Ugh I was in your shoes too just a few months ago. It took me over a year to get everything done too! It sounds like you are very close though...I had many delays and played the waiting game for many months ...I was supposed to be banded in October, then November, the surgeon even said himself I would be banded in December!!! Obviously that didn't work out because of unexpected tests and insurance problems...Then finally I got the good news that my insurance approved it in January....was banded a couple of weeks ago. I too thought it would never happen because of all the problems ...but its very normal. Some people get right to their surgery, and some have to wait a freakin year that's just how it goes. I'm sorry it had to happen to you but I know you will be banded this year. Don't let them do this to you anymore- call them up and demand answers as to why they never sent it out, keeping you on pins and needles for 2 weeks for absolutely nothing. If anyone should know it should be them that this process is nerve-racking for us! They should be more on top of things and more caring as far as I'm concerned. Tell them you want to know exactly when the paperwork is sent out, so you can call your insurance company yourself until you find out the good news. Good luck and I know you will be banded very soon...please let us know when you get approved!!!!

It annoyed me too at first, because my goal is 180...but you have to consider ones height also. A lot of those who weigh 199 or so may only be about 5 feet tall or shorter, so their normal weight would probably be under 120.

Question You Wished You Had Asked Your Surgeon
Violet953 replied to lou2247's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Lou. You have made a great decision and it will change your life! I am only a week post op and I can feel my life changing already. For the better. I can't think of anymore questions other than the ones listed but I just wanted to comment about your kid being teased about your weight. Isn't that just terrible? I remember as a child in grade school, there were certain members of my class who made fun of me because my parents were fat. I would just get so angry with them because it hurt to have my parents made fun of like that, I loved them so much it didn't matter! I remember crying about it..My dad later had a talk with those kids parents because I must have told him about it...and of course as years went on I got made fun of as well because of my weight. My mom ended up getting gastric bypass and she is skinny now and doing great. Some kids can just be so cruel! Don't worry though everything will change and those bratty kids won't have nothin to say then! -
When Will I See What Everyone Else Sees?
Violet953 replied to ohaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear this is very common. My mom had gastric bypass 11 years ago and she says it has gotten better over the years, but that thought process is STILL there. Kinda sad huh? She looks amazing but she tells me this from time to time, that until she looks in the mirror she still feels like a fat person. -
5 Day Post Op & Not Much Weight Loss
Violet953 replied to Tband5195's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find it so funny how every single day there is a post like this...haven't you read any of the posts on here about not loosing until your first fill? Yes, I just had surgery a week ago and have lost 12 pounds already..but I think it has something to do with water weight. Because before I went into surgery my ankles were HUGE and after having them up for a week, they are back to normal size again...so I really think that most of my weight loss is due to that, and I may even gain some back! I was loosing every day...but I'm on mushies now and it stopped. I know that I may gain now, and I am prepared for that...you should be too! It is a very normal thing as you will read time and time again. -

11 Days Out From Surgery
Violet953 commented on Tracy Bloodgood's blog entry in Tracy Bloodgood's Blog
Hey loseit...I know you feel like you can eat again...I do too...but you might not be supposed to yet. Take out your packet from the dietition and read about when you are supposed to be on certain diets...because at 12 days I am thinking you should be on purreed or almost off of it? I just saw my doc today and since I get hunger pains he let me go to purrees early...cuz I am only one week out. I am assuming by next week I will be close to soft foods....so its possible that you are ready but you should double check. -
February Bandsters?
Violet953 replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
aw thank you guys so much!! I hope you all do really well too!!! I'm sure you will. I also forgot to mention that I had a hernia repaired too. I think that might be why I had 5 incisions? I don't know I forgot to ask...lol I always forget to ask him things when I see him but I will be seeing him next week. And I was going to return back to work yesterday but I just felt I needed a little bit longer...still just a little too sore and can't lift obviously either...but I'm going back in tomorrow!! -
February Bandsters?
Violet953 replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! I figured I'd let every body know how I've been doing! Surgery was on Feb 8th...exactly one week ago tomorrow. I feel awesome. I saw the doctor today, and he has me on the purred stage of eating now. As far as right after surgery goes, I hardly had any gas pain...never had to use the gas x...I think its because my surgeon is so awesome really...he did an amazing job....I never got that awful shoulder pain that everybody talks about...I was in pain a little longer than I thought, and my incisions are a bit sore but they are still healing, and itchy now. He gave me 5 incisions all tiny except one and they are more under my boobs than on my stomach, which I love! They are going to heal up and you won't even be able to see them! I have been nauseous... and its only been the past 2 days...it was not at all after surgery. I think its because I haven't been eating as much. Or it could be cuz the fact that my whole family has been puking...but I haven't puked thankfully. I saw my surgeon today and he said the nauseous feeling is probably from not getting enough calories in...so he told me to get as much as I could in...with the purrees....which has been going great, everything has been going down fine, and I have cravings of course but its not too bad. Its going away now that I'm eating more. The best part- I have lost 12 POUNDS SINCE MY SURGERY DATE! 12 POUNDS IN LESS THAN A WEEK! All together before surgery- I've lost 40 POUNDS! I am sooo pleased and so is my surgeon...he is very happy with my results and I will be seeing him every week...he says I should have another 4 pounds off by next week even if I was eating 2000 calories a day which I'm not sure about...but I'm sure I will loose more than that! I'm soo happy with things right now! I was really happy to be under 300, nevermind that I weigh 289 now!!!! -
I guess I'm a success story!

Can Having No Problems Be A Problem?
Violet953 replied to morelgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey girl, I was banded on the 8th and I'm STARVING. Do you get hunger pains where your stomach just GROWLS? I think you are doing great. Because I only have gotten a little bit of nausea ..and the pain has been getting better. My incisions are healing very well...never bled or anything. I just crave soooo much more than what I'm eating. -
New And Getting Banded In March
Violet953 replied to wtxaggie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey there. You have made a great decision! I just had the band put in less than a week ago and I have been loosing weight every single day. I can't believe how fast it is happening- it makes sense though, considering I used to live on pasta and bread and cheese. Now I'm just having liquids and some mushies...since surgery I've lost 11 pounds! You won't regret doing this, good luck and ask me any questions you'd like! -
Like I'm sure you've read 1000 times over already in this forum...that is NORMAL...you also loose in different ways...you will be fine...calm down..

A Little Over A Month Has Passed :)
Violet953 commented on kdalesandro7733's blog entry in kdalesandro7733's Blog
That is really awesome, very happy for ya! I was just banded on the 8th..it hasn't even been a week yet but I've lost 6 pounds. I seem to be loosing a pound a day! Just from this intense liquid diet of jello and broth! Pre-surgey I lost also...so far all together I've lost 33 pounds! I too am very happy I did this...although it is a struggle, and I am very sore still. I wonder if you won't even need fills? Some people don't have to I've heard. I hope I don't need to either! lol -
My surgeon told me to come in a week after surgery. So I am going to see him on Tuesday of next week which I am glad about. And as far as my scars go, they look really good and they didn't put bandages on them, they put this large over-wrap thing over me to keep everything tight, and told me to leave it on for 2 weeks ..although I can take it off and shower.

Anxiety Over Liver Being To Large
Violet953 replied to Christy Headley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate chicken nuggets the night before my surgery at 10pm and the doctor said my liver was fine...just don't over do it...I'm doing fine, just had my lapband put in on the 8th. -
I just got banded Wednesday...and the first night I spent in the hospital was very sore. They forced me to get up and walk to help with the gas pains...the gas pains went away quickly though...I never even had the shoulder pain! Now I'm home and just hungry. I have to move very slow though to get up and down. Just take it day by day...it just keeps getting better...until then though...I am on the pain meds day and night..
-
I don't think you should be putting anything on them unless your doctor says its okay. I wasn't told to...and was banded 2 days ago.. and mine look really good like they are already healing up well. So I would def. stop that and talk to your doctor ASAP~!

3 Days Post Op...gas Go Away!
Violet953 replied to Cyndie B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my god you guys I am soooo not looking forward to this!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf!?!?!?!?! -
I have medicaid and my surgeon said that they might try to fight me staying overnight but he requires it...and said I will be. I am very glad about that because I do not feel comfortable having surgery like that and just rushing home asap. I want to be there in case there are any issues. My surgeon said he feels more comfortable having me stay as well...makes me glad that he is so caring and thorough. I love him, he is so sweet!

This is my year too honey good for you and Happy Birthday!!! -
ALL exercise DVD's work- you just have to stick with them and do them 4-7 days a week! I don't like Zumba because I can't keep up with the dance moves...its too fast pace for me but if you love to do dance then I'm sure its for you. You just need to find your favorite one. I do Walk Away the Pounds and that's perfect for me! I haven't even had surgery yet and I've lost all kinds of weight from it...and my body has firmed and toned soo much, I get compliments from EVERYBODY and I still haven't had the band! Next week though!!!

Tips For Starting Exercise
Violet953 replied to MissManders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For those of you who don't exercise at ALL- no offense but I just don't understand how you can do that. You are loosing this weight, don't you want to tone your body? Aren't you afraid of loose skin? I don't get why you wouldn't want to just move move move it makes you feel soo much better! I haven't even had the surgery yet and I feel amazing. I could not imagine getting into this without the mindset that I have right now and I owe it all to exercising. Seriously!
