    Port Sticking Out

Marilyn I was just looking at my side profile nude the other day and noticed a bump/lump, my port is sticking out. I've been banded 5 months now and it seems to have surfaced more now than before. My curious freinds are amazed that they can feel my port. I don't sleep on my left side very offten. I also have a slight tilt downward but when I lay down it gos flat. My fill doctor has no trouble accessing my port, I'm not too worried. When your husband gets his first fill, under Fluro, the doctor can check everything out. I don't have pain though, you might want to call his doctor.
  3. I've noticed the bunless burger and the low-carb craze that's sweeping the nation. Hardee's and Carl's Jr. dumped the bread from some hamburgers last month, going lettuce-wrapped instead. Now its Burger King's turn to jump on the bunless band wagon. The bunless Whopper has 3 grams of carbohydrates, compared with 52 for a regular Whopper but what about calories and the fat? Note they cost the same as a regular burger. I haven't ran out to try one just yet. Subway partner with Atkins Nutritionals to make the Turkey and Bacon Melt Wrap, with Monterey cheddar cheese, and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, with Swiss cheese. Both Atkins Friendly Wraps have 11 grams of Carbs or less, and the wrap itself, which is made with wheat gluten, cornstarch, oat, sesame flour and soy protein, has only 5 grams of Carbs. Now this got my attention not because of Atkins but the advertisements make them look really good. So off I went to Subway and got 1 of each, they look smaller then the ad and they cost $4.79 each. I was amazed on how easy they were to eat, being banded and at a moderate not-too-tight fill adjustment. I still wasn't able to eat half of each one and I ate slowly. So I give it a thumbs up for fast food on taste. But on the nutritional level, the wraps are among the worst items at Subway in calories (480 and 430 calories) and fat (27 and 25 grams). Only you can decide what to eat! Oh yea what ever happened to Jared Fogle? Reporting on the latest craze...

    2nd fill question...

Hi GingerRenayd2 First I noticed your weight-loss about 42 lbs thats great! Your internal organs, stomach lost fat too which could explain why the doctor didn't think you have had a fill yet because the band is fitting losser??? I'v heard of small amounts of saline lost through osmosis. At my 2nd fill about .25 wasn't recovered from my first fill, at the time we also saw alittle air which was puzzeling to me. I defenitly have questions for my Fill doctor next time I see him. In your case .75cc seems like alot, did your doctor say where it went? I'm curious to hear what doctors say about the lost saline. It just occured to me maybe he didn't take all of it out on purpose. My tightness kicked in right away and in 3 weeks seemed to get even tighter(more restricted) now at 9 weeks since my last fill, I'm not as restricted but statisfied. Having your Fill done under fluro gives the doctor a view to see that everythings alright and you get the proper adjustment. I'm no expert...just expressing what I've felt.

    The Flu and the Band

Being sick is miserable isn’t it? Sorry to here you go through so much pain. I was sick about 4 weeks ago with a sinus infection and slight flu, my symptoms weren’t as sevrere. I couldn’t breath through my nose, a cough, chills then sweats, and a temp. The problem I had was, I had to take antibiotics which I cut in half took with plenty of water then lied down. 15 minutes later a half a pill got lodged and was very very painful, it finally passed. I have learned don’t eat anything and lye down for aleast an hour. Was the upper GI, to check out your band for slipping? Hope your feeling better.

    Excited!!!!

Brandi This is a story I LOVE NSV Non-Scale Victory! Don't it feel good.
  13. Fiona Thanks for posting I can glup water pretty good, but I can't even eat 3 bites of toast. You know your band and somethings not quite right. I just noticed 4 lbs dropped in a week(post-cycle) and I lost alittle restriction. Since your port is on its side and its been a few months, I would be curious and see about getting alittle fill and to check for leaks as well. Keep us posted
  14. Nicely said Alexandra I also think that as you loose fat around your stomach and it shrinks, adjustments may need to be made. I don't know if the "sweet spot" when you feel the optimum restriction, last for very long? I thought I'd mention NSV(non-scale Victories) whats your latest? my wedding ring fits on my index finger. Carol It was nice to meet you! Keep sipping the Water, in a few weeks you'll be gulping it. Did you meet with Marty the nutritionalist? Did she have any good suggestions? So girl, you own a Harley, cool.

    How did I do it?

Yes I remember Claudia, Sounds like a nice guest house. I stayed at the Hampton Inn, about 10 min drive from Santa Engracia Hospital. What's neat is alot of us went through the same airport... the same hospital..hotel... just in different times, maybe even the same hospital room. Just around the corner from my H room was a chapel room that has a 4 story's tall murral painted by the husband of Rita ..OK I forgot the last name.. but the valley there was named after her. She was an artist well know, a movie was made of her life.
  17. Hi Grant It was nice to meet you last night! No More Macaroons for you! Besides my family this Forum has been my biggest Support , I'v learned alot here. Welcome to Bandland:cool:
  18. The only time I felt simular to that was when I was getting my first fill. It was done under flouro, once the doctor got the needle in he installed 5ccs. I started choking and coughing I felt like I couldn't breath. Slowly he removed some saline till I could at least drink the barium. I remember the feeling in my esophagus/chest area, almost like a vise. I would have to say that you might be too "tight". Its been a few days since you posted, how do you feel now? Hope your feeling better.
  19. Welcome and Congratulations Peggy! You sound so upbeat and positive, I'm gald to hear your doing so well. It really hits me when I hear/read the C word and that your free of it, thats wonderful. Keep up the good work and welcome to bandland! Kelly- good luck with your fill, let us know how it went.

    How did I do it?

Leannie:D I was thinking of you over the Holidays. Welcome back and congratulations! I wasn't scared either, Annabell and the pre-op staff are wonderfull and caring. I remember jokeing around about Ricky Martin music and kissing Dr. Sanchez right before going under. Did you get an AMI or an Inamed band?
  22. Vera

    Differences in bands

Sarellano Empty, No saline when they placed my band. At 6 weeks(Sept 24) under fluro I got 1.75ccs. On Nov. 21, blind fill, the doctor removed all but .25cc and filled me to 3.5ccs where I'm at now. I know that Dr Sanchez prefers to place the AMI around stomachs with alot of fat, and the AMI is like a tie-wrap with notches, it can be placed tighter on some people which is determined during the calibration process while in sugery. Karen and Barb on this forum also with AMI's have large fills, I believe Barb is at 7ccs. Who placed your band?
