  1. I'm going in for a sleeve revision October 4th. It worked well for me, and I am not back to my starting weight. However, a revision is strongly encouraged at this time (there are additional medical issues). I have decided to forgo the insurance process, even though I know I would eventually be approved. "Eventually" is the key issue here. I have a small window to create this to where it will not impact my work or home life as much, and waiting for the insurance approval would take over a year.

  2. I was sleeved in January of '12. I've had ups and downs but nothing that you could point to and say it's related to the sleeve. Normally I'm active. I teach yoga for plus sizes, work, etc. In the summer of '16 (as far as I can guess a time) I began to feel fatigue. It was easy to become frustrated, I would forget small things. I had to get prescription glasses in August. I had at least three "colds" from October to January. January 24th I was admitted to the hospital from the ER due to excessive abdomen and chest pain, fever, headache & nausea. They found I had an enlarged spleen, a "blockage" in my intestinal tract, and of most concern my red and white blood cell counts are really low. I was depleted in magnesium, Iron, B Vitamins and potassium. I hadn't even noticed but my left leg which had been slightly bigger than my right for over a year now is now, minimally closer to 4" in diameter larger in the calf, more on the thigh. I've had test after test after test, the results are still coming in. I've been in the hospital a week and I'm feeling better than when I was admitted to be certain. That's not really saying much unfortunately. My question is not to ask anyone to diagnose me. I do wonder if anyone else has experienced these symptoms. What it was, etc. Mention to my doctor that someone else with the sleeve experienced x,y,z, etc. Thank you for your time! Sent from my A0001 using the BariatricPal App

    Halloween challenge

I don't weigh in that frequently and I am currently not setting any official goals...however I am getting ready to do a 40 Days Challenge with one of the yoga studios I practice at, so maybe I can keep track through the challenge. It end on October 17th and begins next Sunday so it does make me curious about the weight loss, although this is more a celebration about having full use of my arm again. and ANYTHING Halloween...lol
  5. I want to reassure you with out deceiving you in any way. Yes, there are complications, and YES they can be serious but get online and read reviews of your doctor provided by previous patients. The more recent the better, variable change and it is possible for a lackluster doctor to improve practice and it is possible for a good doctor to slack off. Choosing a good doctor and hospital removes many risks. Still, be aware - it's surgery. It's hard. It has never, ever been easy. Harder than seeing my life fly by as I struggled under an extra 100 lbs? NO. I have to work at it. I have to keep my emotions out of my kitchen and me out of my kitchen when I am having issues. However, I am in remission fro type 2 diabetes, and I am 100 lbs lighter +/-, it varies. I teach yoga. I swim, dance, climb and crawl (I have bunnies). Don't let fear decide this, but allow caution help you proceed. Good luck.

    Yoga---It's for US!

If at any time anyone needs modifications or just wants a softer practice please feel free to get in touch with me. Between the contacts I have and the years of experience that equals to I can find something for you. About a week ago I took a 500 lb lady through a full practice (after about 3 weeks of practicing) and she could not lay flat or bring heart equal to head at all...but she practiced, practiced and we worked on mods again and again. She did downward dog in a chair, and did a very full expression of warrior 1 & 2 for the first time ever...so excited (we cried)!

    Missing....

I haven't had soda in years and don't miss it at all...I don't even think of it. There are ample drinks that aren't carbonated, and once you get past the desire it's totally worth it. I think the diet sodas and such made weight loss harder, in hindsight.

    Awesome NSV

The improvement to our health and quality of life it affords us are the very best NSV's! No skinny jeans can match the feeling
  11. The bad habits and addictions that we had before the surgery do not so away. The sleeve is only a tool. IF you are at the point that you can do all of these things, there are several possibilities, but the most likely is that you just aren't feeling the damage you are doing due to the nerves healing after surgery. Get these food options out of your house. Do not allow these things to be around you. Start your purees and be gentle and kind to your body. Please get some support, try and locate an overeaters anonymous if nothing else. Good luck!

Go check in the forums that are for local areas too. Good luck!
  13. I am considering finally getting plastics for basically the same reasons - I think it upsets my balance also. That swaying back and forth of the extra skin has begun to create some painful situations. I have tore the "wings" on my arms while I was active in a shirt that had open sleeves. I guess the motion of the skin moving back and forth did it. I had big bruises and the skin was weeping and chafing. I didn't notice it until I got into the ocean, however - owwww. The tummy and leg skin and folds (and others) are creating concerns that as I age, especially if I suddenly found myself unable to take care of my own hygiene that it could create serious medical issues. It is a routine as it is! Keep up posted. I have talked to doctors already, but I'm going to begin to follow up with the doctors and make a decision of who and when probably in the winter, with the intention of getting it done before the heat of the summer. Houston is not the best place to heal from surgery in the humidity and heat.

What does your daily menu consist of?

sleeved 1-4-2012 no refined sugar or grains - sugar hurts and I have decided no more grains. No treats, they trigger responses I do not want and honestly, don't even taste right anymore. No fast food, no chain restaurants. about 70% raw fruits and veggies, nuts, etc. about 5% foods that travel well when needed - canned spinach, tuna, peaches in Water, olives. Mindful Protein. I only eat things I have hunted, know who hunted them, or know that they were raised humanely. Unpasteurized milk and free- range eggs bought straight from source. and coffee and wine and mustard and a few dressings, but not enough to goo my food. This is not a "diet" or a "style" of eating, however - this is what works for my body right now, and I keep a journal that includes my food, exercise AND my emotions associated around the time I eat, and how I feel after. I consider the journal as vital to my eating as chewing.
  15. It is something that is needed, attendance mandatory to proceed? Or is it you need to talk? If you just need to talk to someone, you are welcome to message me and we can talk over the phone, or skype. I don't know if it will help. Also - check your extended area for some support group meet ups, and keep a calender of what you find, so you have it at a glance, should you need support.
  16. You need to contact your doctor and let them know you are off your meds, like NOW. First - you are already expressing you lack patience and potential rage, and so you aren't going to like what I am saying. So stop, catch your breath, and respond rather than react. If it might anger you seriously, come back and read it when your kids and husband are not around. I don't know you but I want to offer some suggestion before there is a worse case scenario. I have dealt with a worse case scenario with a young lady I was advocating through her WLS journey. You don't want it. Please get your children with a family member for now. Have a really forward conversation with your Husband, make him aware. Anytime you describe rage as a recurrent emotion, no matter who you are or why or whether or not you are off meds, never been on meds, etc. it needs to be addressed and understood and a plan of action to remove that. If it is a cycle with another emotion, that needs evaluated also. Get back on your meds, in some form, no matter what, ASAP - with your doctors guidance!!!! Those meds are not meant to just drop. Good luck. I am NOT a doctor, or a Pharmacist, or a licensed Therapist. Just experienced.

    Im 450lbs

you are, I think, going to have to go into it resolved to loose the weight, but also open to change, and exploring your habits, studying what happens to yourself when you slide backwards, and in general prepared to work on it everyday - sometimes more, sometimes less - for the rest of your life. I suggest reading a book called The Power of Habit by Dughill. Good luck!
  20. Wow! I wish I could go. I didn't even know about this. Our company goe live globally with a new program october 1st - no way in Hades I can get away that weekend. Good luck! Have you tried contacting someone with the event, to see if they have anyone else in the same position? Also - look for better priced rooms than a convention, expo, con location! I bet if you goto priceline and name your price you could get something for 70$ or better.
  21. talk to your doctor and give him all your symptoms. Leaks are very rare so chances are you are oK - you may have delayed gas - try walking. do you have any heart issues you know of?

    Yoga---It's for US!

Thank you. If you ever need modifications I will be glad to assist you. I have been doing yoga for over 20 years. I have practiced at the height of my physical abilities in my teens and early twenties, and I have practiced at the times on my life I was at my heaviest, as well as when I was in the most pain or the most ill. The beginning of August I will be in Austin training with Abby Lentz, for some additional teacher training for a type of yoga called "Heavyweight Yoga". Yoga is for everyone, yo ujust have to listen to your body and breath, and do what serves YOU, not what serves a 100 lb. 22 year old yogi (even if her intentions are the best in the world, which they most often are).

    Planking

Planking is great! If possible get a full length mirror you can lay sideways so you can check your alignment as you do the plank. I dislike the way the hands are placed in the picture, however...I would place my hands flat and play my fingers powerfully open, not forgetting to press the palms powerfully into the floor as I do the plank. While you are focusing on the abs, don't forget to keep you ears away from your shoulders, shoulder blades back, ends coming gently together. You can also bring your knees to the floor if needed, if it is hard on your knees use a bolster. When coming out of the plank, keep your arms in place, and gently allow your lower stomach to come to the floor, and you create a gentle back bend that will probably feel delicious!
