2 Days Post Opp Questions & Concerns
Pookeyism replied to Tshaunda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not prescribed blood thinner, so I can't comment on that. The best thing I can advise about the protien shake is congrats on finding a yummy one? Will you please let us know which it is? Try the popscicle thing. Only heat denatures the protien, I think. Not right now, but you can later add your drinks to puddings, and they freeze creamy-awesome! -

First Pics After Wls..one Month Out.
Pookeyism posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
If you have a moment, I invite you to go take a look at my pictures. I cannot believe what I am looking at. I know so many people have lost so much more than I have, but I feel like no one has ever done more, lol. What a rush! This is the smallest I have been since 1999. -
What To Expect The First Few Days After Surgery?
Pookeyism replied to Meredit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are going to be at a friends house you may want them to be very aware of how yo umight potentially be feeling, and make sure they have whatever they would need for any worse case scenarios - such as extensive or acute complications. Make sure they have numbers to your hospital, your surgeon, who to call after hours. Your family, etc. An Ipod or something that yo have music or such to walk around with. Make sure you will be in a position to bathe easily. In a crunch babywipes and hibiclens are very good. Have an understanding that you can't help around the house much, but promise to reciprocate later. My granny would say "don't forget your thank you note!", lol. -

Second picture. I just had not realized! -
From the album: Me
One of the first two post op pictures. exactly one month out. -
Let's play a game: 1) Let's group ourselves into months and years, like February '12, January '12, December '11 etc. and put down how much you have lost since your sleeve date. If you aren't the first person for your month, THEN note your weight, and the total lost so far by members who have posted for your month. We'll see how we are doing, and the newer months can see how it adds up over time. 2) So for me: Sleeved January '12. Lost 22 lbs. since sleeve date. (if there was a running total ahead of my post I would add my 22 lbs. to it and post it here) Let's see the lbs lost add up!

I talked to them and they did not have it. When I asked about creating one, they spoke in terms of seeing where they could buy one and what the overhead was - wtf? I hope they didn't mean it the way it sounded. I am going to print out that earlier link, and mail it certified to my doc, and then email to see if they intend to charge to sign it (something they should offer anyway!) - and I plan on reporting it here. Nitpicking doctors who have been paid very well need to be outed.

Protein Source/type Controversy - Premier?
Pookeyism replied to LoserMama's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have not been able to find much of anything from what I would consider a reputable source that indicates that collagen Fiber is not OK. All of the protien sources "loose" a certain amount in a "pure" form. I have read it is actually nominal. If you take the bullets, you can actually consume enough to balance it out easily. You absorbed protien just fine before, and your stomach will learn to do so again. In regards to whether or not you are getting enough protien, be sure not to forget your Multivitamins, calcium, and keep a "log" of your veggies, so you have an idea of your fiber also. I will say from a purely personal point of view, drawn from experience and observation only. I think I feel better when I consume a bullet protien of choice daily. It does have the collagen, but it also has whey. I have not tried the drink you spoke of originally. I really like unjury. -
I used to do this before surgery! Don't stress. If you can get a small fridge WITH A LOCK, and a temperature gague that shows if the fridge gets too hot. That way you can bring extras, or bring stuff once a week, etc. Does any of your fellow teachers know? Do you have one of those people who always bring leftovers? Perhaps you could offer a small amount of cash if they would bring enough for you too. Soups! Soup, soup...bring several cans and stick it in a desk. Ditto for high calorie protien bars. Tuna "snacks" with the tuna and a whole grain cracker is good and store in a desk too. A bag of apples and a can of Peanut Butter. even just a can of mixed veggies. There is always school lunches. if there isn't anything of quality there, perhaps it is time to bring that up to the school board. (!)

Wastefulness
Pookeyism replied to ChunkyAndFluffy75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still stuck in liquids, but I have discussed this with my Hubby. He is just going to cook like he is cooking for one, since I will be eating so little. We keep tons of green fruits and veggies due to our preferences, and our flemmish giant rabbits, so I will be able to pick and choose for that. Another idea to kick around is the better markets, like Central market (div. of HEB) They have mad selections of soups and a full deli and much more, and you buy as little or as much as you want. I went through the other day with the intention of buying lunch, and by the time I had tried some pestoes and hummus and pommada (spell that right?), and soups and sauces I was full. lol. -

I Haven't Stopped Regretting My Sleeve
Pookeyism replied to Tai29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very sorry to hear you still have regrets. I would have to say that definately it sounds like possible lactose intolerance. It also sounds like you are possibly constantly dehydrated, which will make your tummy even more upset, and it can make you feel physically hungry, too. I would have to encourage you to follow a general eating guideline even if you don't want to. You have certain things that if you don't do you will continue to feel bad. You must get in your liquids. You must get in your protien. Those are the main two, Try a medicine cup and sip in intervals, even if it is just one every half hour. You must be persistent. The very last thing you would want to do is be in the middle of all this and another emergency of some sort pop up. Trust me! Good luck! -
Be careful with Senna. There are many types of senna used herbally. It is a stimulant which can alter your apetite and depending on which species you use it may be a diuretic also - it can also show side effects after a few to several days use. It is not recommended for people who are prone to aniety, heart disease and those who are on medications for bipolarism, paranoia, etc. I have seen first hand what can happen with senna, which was why I wanted to respond. It is most definately an aid for constipation! It is also used to purge horses and such if they overeat.
