Yoga poses do not have to be alot of bending over and such. There are many traditional forms of yoga, and there will always be an over abundance of trends. Do only what you can, do NOT sign an agreement - you should try to experience many classes and many instructors. Do alot of research on the types and what you want out of it. I would suggest avoiding anything that adds heat, or at least for your first classes. If you hurt - really hurt, you need to slow down. In my experiences many "beginners" classes aren't, and you can injure yourself easily. I have been doing yoga continuously for over 20 years, so not really an expert, but seasoned... I am waiting to get to a weight that I can do acro yoga!!!

I boxed for years and I still keep a bag in my garage. You will enjoy it more if you work on your core also. Balance is really important. It can be really fun!

Before The Houston Heat & Humidity Kicks In...
Pookeyism posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
...which will not be long. Will some long-term sleevers from hot, humid areas mind to give some advice? Any! About anything you think someone could benefit from. Examples: 1) Compression garments - breathable ones 2) Staying hydrated. 3) Did you find it easier to be in the heat after weight loss? 4) Did you burn easier? 5) Anything you used for sunscreen, repellant, etc. work better or worse? 6) How did you avoid rashes? More- anything! Thank you in advance! -
I have a goal set of 160, I am seriously rethinking it - I have a topic on it somewhere in here, lol.

I would have to assume that your doctor is less than what you need. No offense to you, but he sounds almost passive aggessive. What diet could be considered a fail to drop 11 lbs a month? 11 lbs a month is just fine. !Stop dieting and start focusing on learning your new habits! this period is not to diet, really - it is to address all of the things we had done to our bodies before, the head hunger, sabotage, issues, enablers, etc. You do not want to go back into ketosis unless you really have to. Generally it is agreed that some people can be in ketosis up to about 60 carbs a day, depending. Ketosis is hard on the kidneys and is not a long term solution to weight loss, so if you can still lose even a modest amount with out it, I would recommend to avoid it. Kidney problems is one of those things that if bad enough could definately reverse your efforts in a seeming wink of an eye. Good luck - perhaps go to a local support group and network with the intention of getting a knowledgeable PCP, if for nothing else just a second opinion.

Has anyone took a month regemin of Probiotics to get everything "going" again after a slow thick liquids/soup to mushie transition? I was just thinking with the antibiotics I had just before the surgery, and the IV maybe I should help things along. I will do research on it - I really try to do research on just about everything, but I am so busy with school and work right now! Grrrr. Anyway, any info anyone can provide info on if they did this and any advice that was given at the time? Thank yo uin advance.

I think I shall start them tonight! Thank you!

It is what Deb said - non scale victory - and those will be more important to you than the scale ever will be. Some will be anticipated, others will come out of the blue. Some will make you laugh, and a few will be profound enough to make you cry. Here is to everyones NSV's. Past, present and future!

Tuna and apple chunks. I am not on solid foods yet but the combo makes an excellent tuna salad.

Does Anyone Watch Man Vs. Food?
Pookeyism replied to Joiebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw this and I HAD to comment! Man VS. food is one of thte things that really began to impact me on this last pre-op sleeve round of weight loss. The first season it was OK - but as he gained weight he began to change - he sounded breathy and sweated alot and looked sooo pasty while he shoveled food into his craw - he would cause me to loose my apetite! He also made me very aware of what the weight was doing to me. Hubby still loves it and I just cuddle in his lap and read a book, lol. -

Lost 30 Lbs On My Own. Should I Go Throu With Vsg?
Pookeyism replied to 1Bumblebee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My weight loss from 1/2011 to about 9/11 ot early 10/11 was what made me realize I needed to go ahead and get the surgery. I had gone from 279 to about 240. maybe lower, but I could feel the momentum ebbing - it is just such an emotional and physical drain to be constantly hungry & that was with me consuming about 1400-1500 calories a day. -
I Can Finally Take My Son To Baseball Practice
Pookeyism commented on 300PoundsDown's blog entry in 300 Pounds down
I encourage EVERYONE to read! This was an beautiful insight into a profound NSV - not all NSV are celebrated by the person losing the weight. I have not yet been able to have children. Perhaps one day I still have a chance to take my child to baseball, too. -

Pookeyism replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's amazing, but if it is average or not (or what is average on here), or safe, I am not sure. -
I would welcome the opportunity to do this for someone. Houston 38 lost 60 or so, need about 50 more let me know

This could be totally unrelated to the sleeve - and very serious. Please contact your doctor.

Susie, Thank you for sharing what has obviously been a very trying time in your life. The pics will come in handy as we see you fly by 44 lbs, and on your way to onderland. We are here for you in the beginning, and we will fret through every worry, and we will cry (well, I often do) when we see your after photos. God bless your persistent, brave soul. -
I'm Probably Overreacting, But...

Hmmm, not sure - could you have developed a food intolerance or allergy that has inflamed your sleeve? Are you going to the bathroom regularly? -

Coffee Caffenated
Pookeyism replied to PlusSizeKutie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes the acid in coffee is bad, bad, bad - but coffee is soooo gewd! I have finally fell victim to it again. In very small amounts! I have them put it in the 4oz cup they keep behind that counter. It sounds odd, but try about 1/4 tsp. of baking soda to 8-12 oz. of a very blond roast and see if that helps. Some say it changes the taste too much, some doesn't notice. Caffene is a diuretic, so it can dehydrate you fast! -
Psych Eval.. Maybe Too Easy. Your Thoughts?
Pookeyism replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The surgeons coordinator should be willing to let you fax or scan the letter so she can look at it now. The psyche eval is a very commonly underused tool. This is where you are evaluated as a good candidate but when your issues are addressed - and we all have them. The counselor does this too but is nowhere near qualified as a good psyche.
