I have been posting so long here that I actually thought of my community here before I thought to call a friend, lol. I am married and happily, commitedly so - so please do not take what I am am getting ready to say wrong - he knows and he feels so bad for me too, which just makes it worse. Circumstances came together a few days ago to require an old, dear, special friend to need a place to be for a few days. We had not parted in the best way, so I was very suprised that they called - but they remembered I promised them they would never be without a home if they needed it. I meant it and so for the first time in a very long time we got to see each other. They were just amazed at the way I looked and could not stop talking about how tiny I looked... ...nothing else... ...and they worked out their issue, and are back on their way. I am not even sure what I am trying to say, which is why I am airing it out here, I guess. I am very glad they got to see I was feeling and looking better - and there was some vanity in it - but not in a negative way. Afterwards there was a tremendous sense of let-down. If I can't express it, how can I deal with it? Is there anyone out there that understands this? I am not trying to create a drama-thread, this isn't a jerry Springer thing! I would however, appreciate any insight anyone can provide. It seems to be that I am sad not because I miss my friend or anything - I seem to get this way sometimes now when my weight loss isn't 'fixing' things. I think maybe because I have focused on my surgery and weight loss for twelve months now...???

I found this video it is brief and really interesting - I think it might answer a little for some of us who begin to eat "normal" foods and can't figure out how the extra carbs seem to be sneaking in. My Norton AV caught an add on attempt off this page - maybe - I had more then one window up. I just wanted to mention it. http://www.delish.com/recipes/cooking-recipes/taste-of-place/?v=ff905ef2-2ebd-4952-a0f0-631d8c2eda4f&from=en-us_msnhp

Hunger Monster Rears It's Ugly Head! What's Happening?!
Pookeyism replied to Dooter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found my hunger so far controlled by antacids or chewing really thoroughly and waitung at least about a minute in between bites, but I am really new to solid foods also - even though I am about twice as far out as you. The protien shake may help. One thing to remember - once you hit a few ounces, even if you havent filled up maybe - you still have a partially full tummy, so maybe after an hour or so (give the food time to pass) try Jello or a crunchy popscicle instead. You may be "craving" texture. I do sometimes. Also if you are dehydrated or TOM can add to hunger. -
One thing I can say is Vitamin deficienies during egg maturity and conception and especially the first few weeks before you would even know you are pregnant can be extremely bad - life altering bad - for a child. I wouldn't leave it to chance - make sure your blood readings are perfect, and be sure you have addressed all the issues adding a child will bring. Just my thoughts I guess I should add. I have no children

Weight Going Down, But Not Pants Size Not So Much
Pookeyism replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are so amny varying shapes and not just for girls...but in general they (clothing) try ti use pear, apple, square, retangle and triangle, from what I notice...I don't think these are enough to lump a person into how they are going to lose weight. I think it has a lot to do with height and also where it comes off of. I also think (when I say think I generally mean educated guess cause I have no direct reference) that pounds lost in ketosis vs. A higher carb diet might affect the appearance also...it is really interesting, however, to see just how different we each are and then to know how generalized our care has been...hmmmmm -
Thank you.

Wls 2/13. Scale Isn't Moving:(
Pookeyism replied to teambrown4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Some of the most noticeable "loss" according to my hubby was while I was in a 3 week stall...I didn't loose any weight but I lost inches. Do your jeans seem loose? Did you know your waist size before? I bet you have lost inches if not lbs. -
Weight Going Down, But Not Pants Size Not So Much
Pookeyism replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the new jeans make it really hard to go "I am a size___". You have skinny cut, full cut, relaxed cut - and then the sizes to "fit your shape". In a men's relaxed cut Carheart jean I am a 38"x32" - so I am going to go by that, lol. -
I Finally Bought Some Clothes!
Pookeyism replied to Lisa821's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad to hear you were finally able to go shopping - I still have not My Hubby says I am the oddest bird he knows...but I think it is pretty common. I give it another try this weekend. -

Nsv And Houston Livestock Show And Rode-O! Lol
Pookeyism posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you aren't local you just might nit understand what a big event the Houston LS & R is, but it talkes over the Reiliant Stadium, Toyota Center, and adjacent real estate (hundreds or acres) and parking lots all around - rodeo, shopping, shopping, shopping, food, food, food, live big name venues every night, every type of farm demonstration and animal, etc... ..oh yeah, and the carnival. I will be riding the rides today, for the first time in years.... I will NOT be eating the fried anything! or the popcorn! I got me a rock-a-billy shirt and steampunk vest, pair of carheart jeans and my trusted steel-toed boots, and my hat with my horns...cause sometimes the missies are the one's with the biggest, er, horns, LOL. -
I Am Overweight, And 6 Lbs From Wonderland!
Pookeyism posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Today was my weekly weigh in and I dropprd four lbs this week! I am no longer obese, I have dropped to 29.6 BMI - I am overweight! I keep saying it, but I really wish I could tell my Mom... -
Get more liquids in, even if it is just a popsicle or something - and yes get in more protien. If you can stand it, try using one of the protien drinks that have your Vitamins in it, like Celebrate or lean - something (forgot) from GMC - blue and white bottle... What I have noticed is my body is fighting to use my carbs first, really trying, but even if it looses them (inches), it is holding onto Water and minerals, etc. like what you would see in a population going through a long, cold winter and spring...lots of dried meats and fish, not so many veggies at this point... I heard it over and over but didn't do it - if you are going to worry then maybe you should take measurements...I promise you will see it in your clothes. I have dropped from 279 to 206 or so in just over a year (pre-surgery included). I went from a 26 w to a 16 ish w & I am wearing a 38 waist in men's jeans right now (I loveeee men's straight leg jeans)...so about 10 sizes in just over 70 lbs.

Is it coming from the back of your throat? You could have a sinus infection, or nodes or something - gargle with a non alcohol mouth rinse - really gargle - kick you neck back and open your throat...you might kick some nodes out. A "node" that I refer to is a collection of throat plaque that gets caught in tiny folds in the back of your throat and back cheeks and can cause very bad breath. You will know if you get one because it will be firm, vary in size, migh break up but it will smell FOUL! I got them for awhile after an accident cause me to have plastic surgery to my cheek through the inside of my mouth, but mine stopped - and I go in every 6 months and they check it all out again... Right after any surgery, it is always good to get a Hubby or someone to "check your breath". Foul odors and where they originate and how they smell have been classic diagnostic tools for thousands of years.

Ot: Sizing Charts Suck. Apple Shaped Women, What Are Your Measurements And Your Size?
Pookeyism replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Apple shaped - you should go in and try your clothing on! I am a cross between an apple and a triangle (not a pear, think with the pear stem down). I go in when I can, but I HATE shopping. lol. You have big bewbs too (I had reduction surgery at about 18 but even at a "C" I couldn't buttin shirts across the chest that fit in the waist with alot to spare. I find, in an educated guess just based on what I see and read, we "other than pears" loose differently, and begin to take on a toally different shape to an extent. I would say I am getting into the "retangle". Hmmm - not necessarily what you asked sorry... -
OOOOKKKAYyyyyyyy...I am going to nibble on a can of chicken spread for lunch, and about 1/32nd of a small apple, no skin no innard, just that 1/2 inch or so of softness - cut as thin as the best sashimi you could buy, lol... I am going to "listen" to george and try to "feel" for the fullness - but I am not going to wait until I feel it. I started about 11:41 CST, and have gone crazy slow...not hungry at all but very sure not yet full, so every few minutes I am going to have another nibble, and after about 1-2 oz I am going to sit back and try to gauge if this time I might be OK with mushies! Wish me luck. I am almost on my 8th week, and I was still on thick liquids and protien drinks!

What Constitutes Being A Slow Loser?
Pookeyism replied to TheSkinnyCow73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would not call anyone a slow looser - there are just too many variables to everyone's invividual needs and other factors. Get in a little exercise everyday if possible. Don't focus on the scales - really truly that is not what this time if for if you really want to be successful in the long term. Note and correct your bad habits - your triggers and blocks, etc. Just keep doing your best - the weight would come off with or without the scale... -

Thank you all! Very Much! Thanks so much for those who helped remind me my Mom knows. It means so much. -
I could nto donate before due to meds I was on for diabetes. I have not been on anything since 1/3/12. I have not been able to transfer over to solids but get at least 65 or go g of protien a day, and my Water needs are met. I wonder if/when I could start donating blood again?
