With the mood swings, staying hydrated helps alot - AND they may not me mood swings in the traditional sense, if you are deep into ketosis, that can make you feel really odd. Analyze how you are feeling - for example do you feel like you could be confrontational? easily distressed? do you feel light-headed, easily disoriented? I usually ask myself how I would quickly respond to a few scenarios, and that helps figure out where I am at on my "map o' emotions", If someone picked at me or laughed at me would I be hurt, or angry or maybe laugh with them, but really embarassed? THEN I do something that I know for me puts me back more in the path to feeling OK. If I am feeling light or easily distracted, I try to do the things that will not take alot of concentration, just consistent effort. If I am easily angered, I try to exercise really hard, or take it out on the punching bag, then get very still and let it go. If I am really upset, I try to find why I am upset, figure out if I need to fix it or let it go, and proceed. I hope that helps.

the biotene, ditto! gas strips too. I took my phone, a laptop, a comfy change of clothes, a pair of disposable flip flops and I think some reading material, a pillow and blankie, some basic toiletries and that's about it. But I was just miles from home and had my Spouse, a visiting sister, two cars and friends willing to help out at a moments notice. If you are far from home you may need to pack better. If you are on any meds that you will continue to take, ask the doctor how he wants to proceed on you bringing your prescription IN, not filled at pharmacy. I know several people that got hit for extra cause they had to supply their daily meds from the hospital pharmacy.

Who is the "they" that told you that you had a hernia? Did they say it could prevent the surgey, or impact it? Either way don't worry too much. Just find a doctor that will repair the hernia and do the surgery at the same time.

How proactive were you?
Pookeyism replied to mage54's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have posted replies to several questions, but my experiences were based on other encounters related to insurance over the years. I had an additional issue that had to be worked on, so the issues I had with insurance were after the fact, etting them to be accountable for their portion, finding out they had misrepresented what they had to cover, etc. I would generally, follow up with phone calls by sending emails, request you be included in paperwork going out either by being included in the email that has the attachments, or a copy of sent faxes. There is a difference in pushing to see a response versus confirming your paperwork was sent. Just let them know you want confirmation they are doing things in the timeline they are supposed to do them, doing them reasonably well, for the money they are paid. Be polite when you say, "no, I wont wait till the last day to have untill to complete something to see if you DID, then have to wait if you DIDN'T, I want confirmation BEFORE that." If you get too many responses that they have till so-and-so, again, remind them that dead-end deadlines are made NOT to fall back on, but to AVOID. You are not a term paper, not a parking ticket, not a Water bill, you are a human eagerly awaiting very important news. Do your best to convey this to the person in the office that matters. If too few people seem to care, perhaps another doctor is best. I went to another doctor because my care was lukewarm with the first. I am not a bath. Lukewarm is not okay. -
I like!

If you are losing, and you are only eating 600-800 calories a day, I would either give your body a bit more fuel or avoid adding a whole other rigorous routine. You could, however, trade out days for some cardio. I did not turn into a skinny minnie after my surgery, BUT I had a deep concern for being able to begin to develop additional muscle and be able to fight again as soon as possible, which is what I do now. My next goal is to begin to weight train in earnest. I am at over 200 lbs. still but I can lift the equivalent to my body weight.

I would avoid cereal and candy. At 7 weeks, meat well chewed in small amounts, and cooked veggies and fruit, hummus and maybe even nut in small amounts should be OK. Nut butters and legumes and such are generally ok. Your tummy will let you know if it doesnt like something. Even more than what you eat at this stage is how you eat it. I really encourage as near to a mono meal as possible, and take notes how well your body handled that food. Oh, yeah - and avoid the nightshade family, tomatoes and such. A nutritionist in your area could be good support for you. Also make sure your regular doctor is aware of your surgery, just in case he would need the info maybe have a summary record sent from your VSG doc to put with your patient file.

Yay for you! Tthings like the football game are do-able for alot of the people sleeved, but just be sure to not have to park too far away, and maybe have an escort through the crowd to be sure no one accidentally runs into you. Consider a folding chair and make arangements to sit somewhere away from the stadium seating??? (when I hear of large crowds I keep thinking about someone bumping into my tummy).

Approved for Surgery & No one to tell
Pookeyism replied to MsK1972's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a stomach tumor also. Even though tumors are rare I apparently 'won' the lottery. I had a deep muscle tumor that was also mucosal, and ran almost the lenth of my great chamber! It was not just polyps, it was folded upon itself, and was separating from the stomach, causing bleeding. I was in soooo much pain. Ironically, they missed it with 3 endoscopies, and 2 ultrasounds. It was found AFTER I had already lost abot 40 lbs. I only had one doctor, but it is a complicated story from there. Good luck, but we are aleady lucky that our tumors were benign! -

It is Ok to be scared, just be careful with your pre-op diet, and make sure you discuss your after pain meds and such with the doc and you should be fine! -

Get your walking in!!! Even if the gas pain has gone away walk if you can, it can return. Sounds like you pulled through very well. It is OK to second guess such a thing. I worry more about the people who claim not to ever doubt any of it! Take care and keep us posted! -
Check and see if you have a support meeting for your doctor, that hospital or just locally before you go in. Also check the local forumn and groups on here and see if someone's profile is a hit.

Family Intervention
Pookeyism replied to duffrebecca12@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only family member that knew in advance other than my spouse was my Sister, and as soon as I told her (from 1500 miles away) said "when do I need to be there?". I did not tell anyone else cause I did not want my Mom to know, I did not want her to worry, she was not feeling well. Whether or when I would have told her is moot now, she passed away very unexpectedly a week to the day after my surgery. -
Good luck!

yes. I do a vinyassa flow in that type of heat sometimes. You have to be mindful of the humidity and aware of your body. Just stay in your breath and you should be ok, go slow if you aren't used to it.

I would ask what you mean by human food, if you mean sliders or the old unhealthy fare I would urge you to reconsider.

spinnach w/dash of lemon, apple, blue cheese, dried cranberries and walnuts - about a half cup cause I am going to yoga soon after, after I will finish it, hopefully, then as much mint tea as I can get in before bed to reydrate (hot yoga!).

pretty freaked out right now sick to my stomach
Pookeyism replied to Gus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just make sure you have everything together, find a way to occupy your time. Go for a walk! take a nice long hot bath - it will be a little while before you can do that again! The hospital part is going to be odd, and the smells are different and the sounds are kinda off cause you are nervous. I can't guarantee what your morning will be like, but if you get up super early then you may nap while you wait, which will be helpful. Good luck! -
Good luck!

(((BIG HUGGSSS!!!!))) it can feel so hard sometimes, but it does get better - I can't promise when but it will. Be very kind to your tummy and don't fret too much about the quantity you can get into it. I swear I seriously think the worrying made it worse for me. Keep some unjury unflavored protien powder around, and make smoothies and juices and add that to it. Stay hydrated and just be very good to yourself. You are on a most awesome journey! you tube 'rawfully organic' for some awesome juice and smoothie ideas. Good luck! -
Also - email and ask to speak to your concierge and let them know you have a food based allergy and give them a list of things that will accommodate your diet. BINGO...sorry i don't fib much but people pay attention when you say "allergy" vs. "I choose", and this is vaycay after all - they are there to serve and accommodate you!
