Pookeyism replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PS - go buy a tshirt that is too tight - really clingy - all over and keep it for when you need reassurance you are loosing. It is as good as any tape measurer! lol. -
Ok Everyone, What Did You Buy?
Pookeyism replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too much! Buy as necessity proves a need - and be sure you really need it. Don't be afraid to but samples and such, rather than big tubs of protien powder - especially if you start to show a trend of tiring of a drink quickly. Switch it up too! Good luck! -
I am having pain that seems to sit below my tummy. It is central and forward (maybe on the forward). It is at a point that I feel it most when I am sitting upright at work, and the longer I go (sometimes) the more it seems to hurt...it is being accompanied by nausea but not alot of throwing up. I have been keeping a spanky on during the day to keep me from jiggling as bad when I am running around the warehouse...but it isnt exceptionally tight. I am not trying to shape, just hold in. It seems to be relieved when I can get off my feet and stretch out, or have a more substantial BM (sorry TMI I knowwww). What could this be? Anyone else with similar symptoms care to relate what it turned out to be? It is seriously beginning to affect my day. I have been at work today and between fidgeting and trying to be even somewhat comfortable, and in the bathroom feeling like I am going to throw up, I have got almost nothing done

Anyone Heard Of... The Cottage Cheese Test?
Pookeyism replied to TheSkinnyCow73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:/ hmmm..... not sure, just hmmmmm...... -
Yes make the doctor aware. If it is gas the only thing to really stop it is the walking, because it is accompanied by presure. Try a liquid pain med...it worked better for me. Did you do the barium swallow? Good luck.

Eating More Calories
Pookeyism replied to desertmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say you could at least follow it a few months to see...I think I do better when I am on the higher range of my calories. Even if I don't lose as much weight I feel better and have a better outlook. Good idea about the protien, I have been toying with that myself. Natural fiber, it seems, is much better than any supplement. I really seem to be doing well (mentally - feeling sharp and alert and sleeping better) since I began to stick to my "5 best foods" blueberries walnuts EVOO or another good fat source either a spoonful on tambiko, or salmon, or talapia...often made with the evoo. Prune, or apple peel, or squash - and just maybe a little oatmeal. REAL oatmeal, lol!!!! Smaller amounts but nearer real suggested amounts. also if I can: pumpkin sunflower seeds hummus cauliflour just soooo much stuff now that I seem to enjoy on a different level, it is like my body knows to enjoy it. -
Talk to a good seamstress in your area, and have her confirm how long she would need to make some size adjustments on a specific dress, then order a nice dress that has easy lines to tailor. Your seamstress may even be able to offer you a list of garments for sale - and be able to take it up. Don't hesitate to ask. Good luck. I tried to get married in kakhis and bare feel but was overuled by all...

50 Years Old 226Lbs Sleeve Date 22Nd April 2012
Pookeyism replied to mammy5's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Read all you can, the books, on here, the online content with organizations like the American Metabolic and Bariatric Association. Stay calm, get you hospital stuff packed now, so it wont be a last minute rush. Good luck! God bless! -
Not fried foods and such but yes...and these are things you want to work on. You will deal with more than that. There are going to be alot of things that brig up emotions you will not anticipate. Contunie to go to counseling if you can - and read, read, read the books that are available. You should consider getting a sleeve buddy, someone yo ucan talk to on the phone, and text, etc. Good luck.

I will keep you in my prayers!

What Is The Difference Between Grazing And Eating Several Small Meals?
Pookeyism replied to Globetrotter's topic in Food and Nutrition
Grazing is a bit more unplanned, and can be really constant, even if only little increments...your meals and snacks sound planned and structured, grazin isnt... -
We have all been here, and one day you will be looking back at the newbies too - and be just as happy for them as we are for you!

Plateau After 4 Weeks?
Pookeyism replied to Harmonic15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just my suggestion but a guy at 6.4 and only 4 weeks out keep to the protien shakes (the ones with extremely few carbs) and meats that are not sauced....focus on Water intake also, get a Multivitamin in every day - a b supplement if you can. Amp you daily routine, as well as exercising...walk a little further to the entrance of a store or mall, vaccum the carpet 2x...be more vigorous in scrubbing counters, windows, etc...it sounds silly but it is a little bit that goes in abig way. Try to stay in ketosis! I would think you need about 90 g protien, minimum! Probably more...and yes that just equals to more calories than you are getting. Measure your waist, thighs, chest, neck - you will see weight loss even when you stall. Get sleep - you have to sleep. I have always had metabolism issues, so I anticipated avery long stall and I am in it...but it isnt the same - just remember how much you have lost, you will loose more...and if you are careful you will not gain it back! Every pound is a true victory to us now. -

I am going to need a new phone soon, and I am with TMobile... Can anyone recommend the best phone or a phone they have, that works really well with the fitnesspal app, and doesnt clog up with several apps running? I am not trying to promote anything! feel free to message me personally if that helps. Thanks! -
Consultation Tomorrow!
Pookeyism replied to MyGastricSleeveLife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so excited for you! This will all pass so quickly (looking back, anyway!). You are going to go through so much emotion - stick in there! This is some of the first days of the rest of your life...you will always have "before" moments that you will never forget, good times and bad - but you now have a whole other "rest of your life" than you perhaps thought you might. make the very best of it! God bless! -

Secret...forget It!
Pookeyism commented on 2BonederfulAgain's blog entry in My Journey to Onederland!
I have decided to post it to Facebook, but not just yet - and I am going to write a very long note about the journey, and what it has done, and how much of that was never possible before. But just not quite yet, lol... -
Very brave for you to post this. Keep it up.

"Drink whenever I can"...that is alot of calories, possibly the 20 lbs or so you gained. Perhaps it is time to see if you have replaced food with alcohol, and get some real help...and discuss this with your partner.
