Not Sure What Is Okay To Post

PS - rememner this isnt a forum like you see for technical information or such - this is a support group, based in the form of, well, a forum. If someone gets onto you just let it slide, if it is genuinely rude - trust me - you are going to get people on here that will back you up. No drama, hopefully, but a friendly voice. There are alot of repeat posts, because it is in human nature to want to talk about ourselves when we worry - and we are all on a big learning curve, lots of emotions, and yes, we get scared... Good luck in your journey, and your experience here. It is a good place to visit.

Not Sure What Is Okay To Post

If you have a question, and a search has not yielded you a sufficient answer, then post it again. I do encourage the searches, because the answers you find there might even help you refine or rethink you question.

Cost Of Pre & Post Surgery Products

Okay - I talked to a few people, including a lady with the Texas Medical Board, this seems to be the best route for anyone (everyone) this is happening with: Start an email thread about your appointments, etc. what is left - establish that your doctor has plans to operate on you, provided your tests and requirements, etc. are met. Gather your information - email you doctor and tell them you wish to opt out of their product choice. Be specific and tell them you have 1) observed many people discussing that they cannot stomach one brand of supplement very long, 2) you dislike the products in question and 3) you want and need to pay as you go for supplements 4) want your consumer rights to be respected. Then ask them, point blank, why they feel it is necessary for you to purchase that product from them, what difference there is in that product that makes it so, and (this is a biggie) do they make a profit from MAKING you buy that product. Request politely that they respond to each question, and explain, politely, that this has raised concerns with you. Maintain your composure, and then confirm your next appointment. THEN: If they do not step down, file a complaint with the medical board they are practicing in - and follow up. Hope that helps!

Cost Of Pre & Post Surgery Products

Um, is that even legal? I don't think a doctor can force you to buy supplements...Tell them no, list your baseline needs you are looking for in a supplement and so from there. I would check with your state's laws on if this is even legal.

    Why

There are many reasons for stalls, but the hold-slip-hold-slip for most of us is not just fat loss. Yo udo not just lose fat. It doesnt drop off the minute you jump on the treadmill...it isn't gas. It is fuel, but fuel locked in a complex little warehouse...it has to be accessed, opened, broken down and then utilized and ina more aggressive mode, like the retention we call "starvation mode". It will hold onto as much from that fat cell as it can, reuse everything it can. Every pound of fat has 7 miles of capilaries. All this stuff has to break down, be used and flushed away. In starvation mode your body is compensating by holding onto what was left in a (kind of) edematous fashion. It holds (some cases better than others - also depends on triggers it recieves) onto the leftovers and Water, and then will releaswe them - thus the actual show of weight loss, even though you could already see it in inches. There is always the situation that if you know you have a cardiovascular co morbidity or diabeties, have had serious Fluid retention thta the stalls might mean something else - but that is why you should be seeing a PCP regularly during you weight loss. I am not a doctor, and I pulled this from memoery and not from a website or anything, so don't just take my word on it - and I pushed a very complex concept into a small space...just some FYI.

    Mental Issues

The food reference was suprising to me - be very careful though. It does seem a bit much. One thing not often mentioned is that you do not always feel the pain from pushing your sleeve till later - maybe even the next day. I was slow to feel the full mark on mushies, and the next day I would feel bad, sometimes really bad. Once I started actually measuring my food to what I knew to be less than my "full" mark, but enough to feel satiated, I began to hurt alot less. PS - I do nto think it is possible to stretch your sleleve quickly, but with my understanding of internat sutures, I bet it is possible to make it heal at a larger size than it would have by constantly stretching it out with food as it "positions" and heals.
  9. perhaps you could tack them into the bra from the inside? The triangles I mean... Where do you get such a djin bra? How much should I expect to pay?
  10. Apparently I was wearing my bras way to tight, because they are the last things to begin to be big...I hate to admit this, but I hate shopping for that stuff...I actually moved the hook and eyes up on two of my neutral color bras, so I could keep wearing them!
  11. So true! I am getting back into so much I missed! Congradulations on Onderland! It feels soooo good, doesn't it? : ' )
  12. Soooo, yeah....hmmmmmm...uh-huh....

    I Made It!

Walk through the pain - it's a b***h but it helps the soreness, will actually ease nausea, and will reduce the gas pain before it can migrate - you do NOT want the gas to migrate (so I have been told, because I walked). Well, i also took hydrocodone liquid, lol.

This Surgery Is All I Think About

Don't wait for the surgery, prepare now - you will feel better, like you are doing something....read the books and get out to the support meetings, etc. Now would be a good time to get back into old hobbies you would like to start doing again - a jump start, if you will...

What Method Of Birth Control Did You Use?

Realistically, I doubt we will ever be able to concieve, so I have not worried about it. This is just my opinion but my bet is if they ever do a study it will find birth control has a much higher failure rate for post-sleevers. Most of us took antibiotics as a pre-surgery requirement - and antibiotics make bc less effective. You body is changing literally leaps and bounds - hormones releasing, especially estrogen. I think if I did take something it would be something very old school...a daily pill.

    Over Isopure.com

Mootopia! I get it at HEB. It is a protien-fortified reduced sugar - lactose free milk. The chocolate has 45 % less sugar and 50% more protien. 8 oz w/a scoop of unflavored unjury is 32g protien.

    16 Mos Out...disappointed

This far out, with your small tummy, I bet you can get to 1000 being eough calories. Train yourself to not eat till you are full, just satiated...it's ok to feel al little empty. Keep yourself distracted and look over your habits, maybe slipping into head hunger again? Go to a half-price books and find some of the "Don't Eat This, Eat That" books...they will help alot. Keep low carb, keep eating smaller bites, avoid liquids in meals... PS - Even if you only lose a couple of pounds a month from here on out, you will have lost 24 lbs or better, and it goes on...Where would you be at the end of the year without your sleeve? PSS - the bypass is still an option for you. Good luck.
  20. don't forget salmon and talapia and dolphin and snapper and cod...omg fish are awesome.!

    Stalled At 3 Weeks?

You should have more protien. 600 calories may be why you are stalling. Low fat is OK but you should have some healthy fats. Try more water, up your calorie intake a little, make sure you are taking a multivitamin, and get on a sleep schedule, get your rest.
  22. I will be getting my neck, underneath my chin and my jowels done, but not for at least a year. I want to see how much more I lose, how much my skin tightens, and I will probably schedule it with a "first wave" of surgeries, so I have to wait till I meed enough work that it becomes medically necessary, so it will be excused medical with work, and I will get my long-term disability benefits if it extends over two weeks in healing
  23. Consider locating a plus-size specific reseller - check the internet for reviews and complaints. See if you could put yourstuff in a community yardsale - or get one started so you can. A community yardsale has its advantages in drawing a bigger crowd. Facebook it - people may remember that cute dress or nice top. Avoid craigslist. Look for plus size retailers on ebay and etsy, and contact them...have good picks and info on your best items...have them make yo ua bulk offer...a little less money, but timewise comparisons HUGE.

    6 Months Post Op Question..

I don't think it is a set time. I think you determine it by your habits, how much you have lost - muscle mass, etc. Try to find contentment that if you do not stop the good habits, you will still lose weight...if you only lose 3lbs a month that is 36 lbs in a year...where would you be in a year without the sleeve? Take this 6 month point to make sure you are still avoiding liquids with meals, chewing small portions, waiting, and remember- yo dont have to eat till you are full, training yourself to walk away satiated but not full is still a useful tool. Good luck!
