The incision furthest right for me was where they removed my stomach, and it is a bit bigger due to the size cannula they have to use. They could have also put a stitch down that is tugging. It is fairly typical since you are on your back. I had one and it gave me issues for at least 2 weeks and off again and on again for a couple of months. Do not underestimate the value of a lesser pain medication - what are they giving you? Don't laugh but if your doc is OK with it try liquid ibuprophin. Also, I found I hurt less once I became aware that I was "guarding" the pain, that is, slouching over while I walked. Once I stood up and stretched out the length of my torso and put on a tight 8" ace bandage (alright 3 of them but ah was a biiig girl! lol) i felt much better. Heat helps too. Good luck and yayyy! You are sleeved!

I have talked to several people who think that the fact that they could not do the pre-op diet with our eating carbs was a warning sign, in hindsight, that they would at some point begin to eat sliders and carbs, thus sabotageing their sleeve. Try to at least switch to veggie if you are still hungry, or a protien drink that is not a Meal Replacement drink - there is a difference. unjury in double chocolate it 8 oz and 100 or 110 calories and 20grams of protien. It is not a meal replacement, however. Try that and mix it with crushed ice, and eat the ice as you are drinking te drink. If you are still hungry, sorry, but it is head hunger and while real it is not physical. You will definately need to deal with that. have you discussed head hunger with yor counselor?

It can be a really frustrating process. Follow up and find out why. Get it in writing. Be prepared to go to another doctor. Not sure how much quality post op care you can expect at this point. Good luck!

Dr. Robert Cywes - Why I Left The Practice
Pookeyism replied to FXDF2008's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Problem with letters and emails of particularly long length that do not up front designate the business at hand can be argued that they were dismissed as possibly harassing correspondence - you are not obliged to read a long displeased ocrrespondence on the possibility there is something relevant tucked away within... I am so very not trying to be discouraging! Just explaining a few things I have learned from myself over the years. Good luck. PS - the hospital your surgery was done at may very well have enough of your information that you need never deal with this doctor again. -
Dr. Robert Cywes - Why I Left The Practice

Did you send this to them via a method that requires a signature? If not do. Rewrite or amend your letter to begin with "Remit with out any firther delays all recored oertaining to all treatments, meetings, discussions, prescription, etc to (include all doctor information)" stop here and put a signature directly below this - with identifying information they would use with you, an address would be best. Tell them, up front, it is a time sensitive task, and a deadline that the other doctor needs the informaton. Tell them to either fax it and forward you a copy of the fax, or email you and cc you in the email...give them strict instructions to include xrays, tests from any facilities they have, etc. Turn them into the state medical board if they do not comply...if your state has a penalty for failing to do this in a particular time, make yourself aware of it. Good luck. -
Did they offer you any nausea meds in a patch form?

Someone asked me this, and I have deleted the email or something - but here is the answer: How do you measure yourself, you personally, do gain a real understanding of your adiposity? The BMI, Body Mass Index, is widely used, but generally innacurate. If you want to know exactly where you are now, to the best science can reasonably (expensewise) offer an answer, you might want to consider the BAI - Body Adiposity Index. This requires more than the BMI, which is why it is not used so often. There is also hydrostatic weighing, which I have had done but not recently. I plan on having this done before I began to set a final goal. There are more and I know I missed some - but these two are tests that I know of to be offered by sports medicine docs, and better than BMI - the hydrostatic does not even require an xray. I am by no means an expert, this is personal knowledge only.

1-Week Weight Loss
Pookeyism replied to sid_n_reagans_mommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is really good loss! You have to remember you are really very limited in your ability to exercize, and you can store fluids! -
Yup - you could need a medicine overhaul - or be experiencing low blood sugar...too many reasons and dizziness is serious. If nothing else you can fall and whack your knee or something - my hubby had an ear infection and knocked the crap out of his knee. Weeks later ear is fine but still going to the doc over his knee....
-
That is about 4.5 oz if you are weighing only the fish, that is alto of protien...eat about half, and wait about an hour, at least, before eating the rest - in my opinion.
-
This is a good exercize to see if you are experiencing hunger or head hunger...and also how to deal with a favorite food. If you have the burger, consider it without the patty - remember Katcup is loaded with salt and sugar. Chinese may be your best bet. Some chem braised salmon sliced thinly with wasabi mayonaise, maybe?

Pre-Op Diet And Social Activities
Pookeyism replied to lilly11781's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Carefully...but it is do-able. You need to plan. I did mine with Christmas and New Years Eve thrown in the mix! -
WOW - if you think you had a real episode - especially post-sleeve or on the pre-op diet - you should go to the doctor. Truly serious on this - it is a more traumatic event that you realize. You stressed your heart, your kidneys, your skin, your limp system, your BRAIN...you depleted amino acids and minerals you may not have had enough of anyway. If you can, go get checked out.

So very glad you are doing well - and just in time fore summer! YAY! I start thinking sbout Halloween right about now - what costumes you will be able to pick from!!! -
It is, for so many of us, that line in the sand...it begins to really get surreal from here - or did for me. I kept thinking something was wrong with the scales - I even had them calobrated a month early (I weigh in at work on our mega-outdoor scales, lol).
-
I am having mental issues (the best I can describe it) buying new clothes - I still hate shopping but now it is combined with the feeling of dread that I am going to go in and still need size 20's (I am 14's some 12's) I am currently wearing clothing donated to me by a co-worker and friend - I bought the shoes, lol.

Anyone Done Their Preop Testing At A Different Hospital Than The Surgery
Pookeyism replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes - with the exception of the tests that were ran a couple of days ahead of the surgery - they did my pre-admission orientation at the same time. My was hectic - they had to reschedule do to not seeing anyone because the flu was going around in the staff - so most of my tests were on the 30th of December...if I recall correctly.
