Don't think I will look like that in a bathing suit no matter how much I lose...ROCK THAT SLEEVE!!!
-
PS - no matter how often I post, or how long ago I posted it - I do not walk away from a post - if you need someome to talk to message me, if my suggestions help, maybe I could offer more. My transition was difficult, too.

She could be seeing stomach surgeries, but the staple line is not the only thing holding you together. No offense, but I would question that - people have a tendency to stretch the truth when they feel justified in their positions. I have submitted your inquiry to The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. If you have never visited their site I encourage you to do so: http://asmbs.org/

How Do Newly Skinny View Those Who Still Struggle With Their Weight?
Pookeyism replied to NDN_RN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still having issues with seeing myself the size I am, so I don't have the before/after thing yet...but interesting question. food for thought! Get it, food? :/ -
Okay - you asked... First, seriously, the forum is thick with people listing the early stages as difficult, the Water issue is common and fades, and there is a protien drink out there that you will like - or make your own. You can even get protien water, and milk fortified with protien, 12 g for 8 0z. Every issue, every one that you ever had with any other weight loss tool has an opportunity to arise after the sleeve - especially if you do not prepare in advance. Now, lets fix this in small increments... You MUST stop stressing and anticipating your body's response to your foods and water. Try some breathing yoga before you drink, losen up your chest, calm down... Do not sit down with your family at the beginning of the meal, find something to do before you set down. Take only small bites of food, smallest, chew thoroughly and ask someone a question - so you can talk, and then another bite - if you are still eating as the plates are cleared, so be it...and that is someone elses job now, too. You are going to take warm bath and let yourself relax and digest. Read, not just here - there are book out there full of insightful, helpful information. If you are interested I will recommend a few. There will be other posts with excellent suggestions. Good luck - it gets better (look at my profile).

At Home Exercise Ideas?
Pookeyism replied to HadToDoIt40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
paranayama yoga - the first best step to yoga, in my opinion...it is the "breathing" yoga...do light steps, or get the book "Yoga for Wimps". Take a balloon and keep it off the ground by swatting it. Take a "body stroke" bath - you start at your head and using a body bar go from your neck to yyour knees or feet in one long AMAZINGLY FEEL GOOD stroke, and do it again - repeat till you feel like spaghetti or the Water gets cold... -
Being Sleeved Has Created A Monster!

You can savor healthy foods now! put your veggies in cheesecloth and boil them in broth, juice some veggies, find a teavana near you (check online and make sure they get good reviews for fresh tea) and try teas - teavana keeps several samples at any time... SMELLS TOO - indulge - get some lotion, some fresh cut flowers, fabreeze EVERYTING in a wonderful light scent - it isn't just your taste buds, you r olfactory senses are going to improve, too!!! -
You need to go to a doc, and get checked out ASAP - right now is just not a time to stress your stomach with repetitive heaving. Even if it doesn't develop into a leak, it can hinder your healing ALOT. My Mom passes away a week after my surgery (six months ago tomorrow), and the crying and such really did a number on my stomach - the doctor thinks it is the main reason I had so much trouble transitioning (some days better than others, still) to solid foods. He said he sees it in people who catch colds and such after the surgery g othrough the same thing.

Important Question
Pookeyism replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you have reached a size you are comfortable with, and you begin maintenance, if you are one of the people who are still readily losing weight it is a matter of increasing your calories, or maybe you don't want to go to the gym as much - the choce is yours... It probably will not be one thing - but I have found the most sccessful people keep a mentality that they have to always work on it, keep a food log, keep exercising, keep hydrated, watch food portions but also make sure they keep eating quality, healthy foods. If you find yourself still losing, first start by lokin gat what you eat - maybe you could increase your good fats, or get in another serving or dairy or yogurt...daily you will probably not need that many extra calories to counter your weight loss. -
Thursday Is Coming Fast
Pookeyism replied to Danielle Beadle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a friend with the same situation as far as transportation - get an early morning window that your mom can take you, and be prepared to wait - or consider a taxi...if your insurance is covering it you may qualify for a shuttle service. -
ABSOLUTELY - and I love getting the bored glance over from people rather than the "OMG please there is already no room" look I would get as I went down the isle looking for my seat.
-
We were already pretty good (when I felt ok, etc) but now it has gone from a few days a week to every day and, well, er, more...lol The best difference is the way it feels to be able to get so much closer than before - no belly in the way...that sort of thing... ...hmmmm.... ...running out of the office to grab hubby, lol...
-
Yay for you - already sleeved here, I will save you a seat on the losers bench.

Post-Op Maintenence Phase
Pookeyism replied to GetNSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Perhaps you could "start over"? Get yourself ready and clean out your kitchen and get everyone ready to tow the line again, find your sneakers, get the air back in your bike tires... Select a date ans that is your start up date again, and start weaning yourself off your bad habit s- no food funeralsm etc. Make every step go to your new start. Start relying on liquids a bit more, get off your carbs, and do a mini-fast/pre op diet mix, and then go back to liquids a few days, then mushies - just like you did at first, healthy, protien first, veggies, fruit later... -
It might be that if it is slight - but also you could be experiencing hair growth due to more testosterone - so I have been told.
-
Why would you give up when you barely started? Almost everyone has stalls, and sooo many posts are about that? Get the throwing up resolved, and back off the exercize a bit until you do, keep hyradted - and get in your head and find out why you are willing to give up so easily. Good luck.

Would Love To Hear From All Of The Sleevers On What Worked For Them To Help Lose Weight Faster : )
Pookeyism commented on baseballmom02's blog entry in baseballmom02's Blog
I can't speek of speedier ways, I was offered medication because of a metabolism issue, btu it didn't help via regulating me, it only amped up my thermostat - speed, basically - so I declined. Exercize - small, varied exercise will help alot, I think - and just dont fret. I have after a long time come to peace with the fact that I am losing slowly, but the sleeve will help me stay on track, and I lose inches even when I dont lose pounds. May I suggest you find things to keep you occupied? Painting, taking a class, or rediscover the things you lost as you gained the weight? I have took up swordsmanship again, and contact juggling, poi and hula hoops - I lose hours and build up a sweat, and the days just roll by...until the day I went into Old Navy to buy a summer slip, and had to get a 12 instead of the 14 I picked out... Namaste. -

How Many Pounds Was It After Surgery Before Your Clothes Were Too Big?
Pookeyism replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was noticing a change at 20 lbs, easy - but I have alot of abdominal fat. Depending on height, fat distribution, genetics (where you keep and shed your fat) and many other things people wil vary... Don't be discouraged if you have to lose a bit for it to show in any one place - it will begin to show, I promise. -
