It is a scary place to be where you are now - and there will be other scary times as you go along. Just stick to it, educate yourself and read here, read books, read websites...good luck

Wife Is Getting Sleeve, I Need Help
Pookeyism replied to David B Smith's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I will message you... but also, just remember - low carb, low sugar...and since you are sharing, consider looking through the books "eat this, not that". Atkins cookbooks are good, too. -
Four days in a row no day skipped without at least one "meal" of real food. Yesterday I even reached my calorie goal by eating 4 small meals. I am paying for it now. WOW! I hurt. Just below my tummy and just above my pants line...not moving the way it usually does, as if it is discomfort passing food. :/

Duck tape - duck tape solves everything.... What trainin does a life coach entail? I have found myself wondering if I should not be in a more one-on one role re:career - but not a mortician (I have a degree in Mortuary Science).

Pookeyism replied to MamaT's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is a really good point - I have decided to keep a fav list on my phone, email and on a card in both cars that not just lists my history but references quick, thorough info on the sleeve. I hav ebeen to 4 doctors in last 3 months that didn't know what it was. Any other ideas out there for when we need someone to understand in a hurry? -

Not UT alumni but got - in- with a young lady there in college that I had an opportunity to spend lots of times in the Foresic AC. Amazing experience. We (Hubby, Hubby's family and me) have an organic, cruelty-free lamb and veggie farm in Jonesboro, TN (well, we are still a bit mean to the tomatoes)... -
I also have a group that I started "Skype sleevers" with the intention of face to face chats - I have like 3 members...

Of All The Crap You Took To The Hospital What Did You Actually Use?
Pookeyism replied to TinkerToyz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Almost nothing - I was having surgery about 20 minutes away from my house, so I took my phone and laptop (for waiting in case they shuffeld me around) toothpaste, a mouthspray that simulates saliva because I couldnt drink for awhile, pillow and my blankie...hmmm...robe. they provided socks, someone combed my hair but I think I recall forgetting my comb the first day...when it became obvious I would not be leaving the second day hubby brought my groming supplies for the shower, etc. On the way home no coat was needed - but I wore a hoodie and sweats, oh yes CHAPSTICK, lol - this is to the best of my recollection - but I knew I had my hubby, and about (it seemed like) half of Houston waiting to help out, should I need something. This list is MUCH different than my first list - this was post-conversation with a hospital surgical liason - which showed me the room I would prep in - or one like it, the gown, socks, lotion and more they prefered I use - so as they went down the list, my take with lessened. -
You say you know, but yet you keep getting in wayyyy to little...yos hould work on that! All of our "I know I shouldn't but" or "I know I should but" - these are things you need to address as you lose weight - hopefully a good counselor explained the importance of observing the word "but" in your discussing habits and actions and feelings re: to WLS. If not - replace your counselor and find a better one. Eat more, protien first...exercize, and you will lose - and do the tight tshirt thing - you will see ti get lose even in a stall...yo uwill lose inches, even in a stall.

If you like the app be sure to look at ti online, much easier to negotiate on a regular PC! And welcome!

I fit what I think it is, once i burped I was fine...also I dissolved tums sugar free tabs successfully after about 2 weeks out, and before that tums strips. It helped, but you will still feel it for awhile - going by my experiences.

Are There Any Bad Side Effects After The Sleeve?
Pookeyism replied to mufasas-mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes there can be issues, and you can possibly even die - You really need to discuss this frankly with your doctor, read the forum (search "help" "regret" and other key words. Strike up personal conversations with people who have mentioned issues - they tend to be more open on a personal level, its just human nature. I had complications and would be glad to discuss them and how I think they came about...messge me if you are interested. I am NOT being negative and you probably won't have any or severe or long term...but we all deserve to understand, this is abdominal surgery! They are cutting out your stomach - you really, really need to be prepared. If you are not, however, it is no one elses fault. I did 95% of my research on my own, and I am no internet guru! -

get a timer and make yourself UNLESS there is actual pain, but small amounts, sipped, and in intervals...you really need your liquids. Congrats! -
Help! Could Eat/drink More Than Now, 4 Days Out
Pookeyism replied to KikiCC's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yes what do you mean "eat" there should be no solid foods this early - or pureed, or even thick liquids. That is, frankly, regardless of anything a doctor says... -

Just Decided To Make The Switch From Lapband To Sleeve
Pookeyism replied to mufasas-mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you planning to stay on a puree/mushie stage till 2014? it is doable to be sure, I know at least 2 chemo patients that have had to do this. Soft food diet, I mean. -
You would not have to go back there - but check and see wha tyou will pay (you have to have follow ups somewhere) out of pocket to cover office visits once you are home - it might make going local more reasonable. NO experience with Mexico, but I would not.
