Mcdonalds Grilled Chicken Snack Wrap?
Pookeyism replied to mattr2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not eat anythig fast food - partially due to the way they are prepared and what is in them, and partially because of the kill procedures used in fast food. so that for me would be "Nay, nay!" -
It can be a hard road! But the benefits are worth it!

Keep Gaining Since Decided To Have Surgery
Pookeyism replied to StrongMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not trying to be a donkey butt. It is something you need to talk about and understand. It does not mean you aren't ready, it just means you need to prepare, and be ready for what is in front of you. Good luck, God bless! -
Good luck! Excited for you!

I use them both - whites when I am making it to go with something, whole when I am just nukeing some eggs.

Question For Vet Sleevers...
Pookeyism replied to Curvy Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are looking for things to be "normal", let me remind you a normal tummy is not what you want! The tummy (I call mine George) will always be a factor in your life. You will be able to eat a bit more, but you should always chew your food extremely well, always eat a bit less than full. The goal is to maintain your sleeve, thus allowing it to help you maintain the new you. I have found I cannot rely on the pleasure of food anymore. It is just not worth it. I have NO fast food, NO trans fat, NO refined sugar. I don't treat myself with food. It just seems to encourage old habits. You may differ. I am 9 months out and for me, myself, this is what I have decided to do - because I want to be here two years out, 9 years out... I really encourage the avoidance of liquids before and after a meal. I have talked with other vets that are very confident that they can eat a bit more now, that it is not doing anything - but when you pin them down, they have unaccounted for pain and such that often follows a day where they had the "more" they are talking about, and I noticed it myself a couple of times during maintenence. So for me: measured portions yes, still the baby spoon at home, no refined sugar no soda no fast food no fried food no white Pasta I just never put all of what I could on my tummy, I always leave a little room. popcicles are good for my tummy aches head hunger is less, but I always take caution, mind my triggers I still burp I find, 100% of the time, hunger that follows within 2 hours or so after eating, is resolved with antacids. I can: Have a bit of honey in my tea eat anything reasonable, enough to enjoy the sensation of nurishment run again fight again (swords) survive the zombie hoards (less than 2 months away) climb trees put off knee surgery indefinitely throw away my type 2 diabeties meds take way less ibuphrophin see how that goes? lol, better than overeating ever was, for whatever reason. -
Onerderland Today, So Thankful!
Pookeyism replied to happilysleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is just something about that number, isn't there...it is one of my best moments in this, still. I weigh in on the scales in my warehouse, lol...so the day I hit onderland I had to walk on back in to the office (we had visiting clients in that day) and walk by everyone and not get to say a word!!! I was exploding in rainbow confetti pieces on the inside however, lol. -
9 months out and I can have 4oz of soft protien, 2-4 otherwise... ...now, here is the tricky thing...I can have more, but I don't need it to feel full, and i think more is directly related to me feeling bad later, next day even. I would keep you portions as modest as you can to satiate your hunger. measure before you eat!
-
Stomach sizes vary somewhat - the length of the stomach is a variable too...the endo channel above is good. I have seen some of the videos.
-
Everyone loses at different rates - but the weight is not all of what it is about. There are times you are going to either not lose much, or nothing and still lose inches. Get in your protien first. Keep your logs. Focus on something other than the scales. remind yourself that you have a tool now that you never did...and be patient. Get a tight fitting t shirt and watch it get loose. Even when you dont lose weight! sleep - you must sleep. A regular 7-8 hour sleeping schedule is as important as anything else mentioned here...yahoo "sleep and weight loss".

Time Off From Work After Surgery
Pookeyism replied to EllaJo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope fr the best, prepare for less! I would have been 2 weeks or so if I had not had some unfortunate events, you can look at my profile if you want. But you need to prepare for more than that. You are obliged to only tell your boss that it is a medical issue...search "time off" "telling boss" "HR" etc... -
Too Much Saliva And It Makes Me Gag!
Pookeyism replied to Cuaya's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did anything like that when food disagreed with me, or I ate too much - rarely, thank goodness. are you on any meds? When you lose weigh, go through trauma or illness, etc...yo ucan experience side effects with medications you did not experience before. -
It was sweet! ugh! I switched to a generic equivalent - equate, I think - and it was less sweet.

Pre-Op Diet Question
Pookeyism replied to butter-fly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ask your nut, but I would try Water, then ice (sometimes crunching is what we are wanting), get away from anything you are doing that is routine, if you can... ...if you are still hungry, consider a high protien/low carb option... again, ask your doc -
Army Wife About To Start Vsg Pathway!
Pookeyism replied to njirieuhgkremvdf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So happy you have lost already, the surgery will be easier for you. I doubt I have to remind you but (always a but) please consider keeping an emotional workbook, or maintaining counseling at least every other week after the surgery...the anxiety you feel is verly likey not to just go away...in a nutshell, you have been hurt enough to not be able to leave the house, and there is a possiblity this is not just weight-related...has anyone else in your family ever had agoraphobia? (I think I spelled it wrong it is the fear of leaving your house, or possibly a defined area... I am in no way trying to be negative, I really want to see you be able to deal with any issues as you go, rather than hit a wall later on... The best to you! Good luck. -
I Stink At My Pre-Op Diet! Does This Mean I'm Going To Fail?
Pookeyism replied to butter-fly's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
May I ask how much reading you have done? about the head hunger and such? Consider reading The Power of habit by Dughill, it has been an AK-47 in the aresnal of my "defense" so to speak... For me, personally, I have learned to define a difference between hunger and head hunger as in if I can switch up my routine, get away from my triggers, and distract myself, then it is possibly genuine hunger...the surgery will help with the real hunger, but you will still need to work everything else out. That is the really, really hard part. -
12 More Pounds Until I Have Lost 100 Pounds!
Pookeyism replied to lisalalani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I wish sometimes I had done it sooner, but I know I was not quite ready - I think I wish I had been 'ready' sooner...and oddly enough grateful for my tummy tumor that finally got me on the table. -

Weird Heating Sensation
Pookeyism replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not to ignore your direct question, but you are going to get odd sensations as your stomach heals - remember you have nerv endings that were severed, blood vessels re-routing, tissue reconnecting - alot is going on right now...it is also why it is really important to measure food portions before you eat, you can actually be too full and it not register sometimes, even when it does others. Let us know what you find out, please
