Surgery Oct 16 All Post Surgeries Question
Pookeyism replied to berthaeaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On the foum? that is a bit of a sweeping statement, I have heard everything from a travel battlship game, to pillows, lotion, books, kindels, etc... Where is your surgery, how close to home, how readily will there be someone able to get something you need/forget? -
Help Please! Pre-Op Vs Post-Op
Pookeyism replied to barbi1281's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just be sure it is foods...thing is solid vs. liquid protien should not be producing headaches. Could it be that eating is still a big enough comfort that it is eliminating enough stress to take the edge off? Also, where does it hurt? May I suggest you experement with chewing ice? if it is muscular this will help also. -

Which Way Do I Go? Sleeve Or Bypass
Pookeyism replied to Mich grand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You mean insulin as far as type 2 diabetes? Did your bariatric doctor tell yo uto go off insulin or your regular doctor/endocrinologist/diabetes specialist? I see people reference the bariatric surgeon telling them sweeping statements like you will be able to be off your insulin. You cannot take this as gospel. Diabetes is more than just weight, and you should not select your surgery based on that. A big factor, in my opinion, is to ask yourself do you need the malnutrition issues that a bypass would include. www.asmbs.com Lots of info on the above link....and always, ALWAYS run what your bariatric surgeon has said by your regular doctors. Your surgeon is just not who should be deciding your overall health. -

Pookeyism replied to ladyscorpion's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it doesand glad you are doing so well. Keep it up! God bless! -
nutrition and Water helps the most - this is an internal struggle...but any good moisturizer helps. Do not underestimate the value of consistent, low impact body toning!

Frankly - and this is not because I had the sleeve - I decided against the band 3+ years ago - just too many complications, and eve nif you have it emptied, it is in there! http://asmbs.org/ read through the site thoroughly. it answers so many questions - and those we have not thought to ask.

consider freezing cantelope and strawberries, grapes, apples, peaches, berry mixes...and get a GOOD blender - you need alot of crushing power but needs strong vertical motion & also MUST be easy to clean and I recommend glass, too - now, get unflavored unjury and a low-sugar juice - tropicana now has 50/50 which is half the sugars...experiment until you get a frothy brew you like! - you are almost guaranteed to find one

How Do You Know If Lactose Intolerant?
Pookeyism replied to jennrus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/tc/lactose-intolerance-symptoms -
If you use Mootopia it is a fortified lactose free 1/2 sugars milk...cuts calories but ups the protien - a cup is 12g protien.

Liked you post not to say "haha" but to say yup! been there! But it is a learning process. New foods in extreme moderation quickly became one of my top 10 rules.

Unjury make s good protien powder and so does Chike.

New Member. Is The Pain Really Bad Right After Surgery?
Pookeyism replied to FrankenSleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pain after surgery varies so much. talk to your doctor, get an understanding of who will be your follow up doctor (mine was NOT my surgeon and this was not explained to me, so all the discussions about pain meds and such were not heeded - indeed not even passed on). Make sure that your doctor had sent follow up instructions for your pain medicaton DIRECTLY to the head nurse on the floor you will be on and yes, they should be able to do this. Not trying to scare you or anything at all! But the time just after surgery is important to have as much arranged as possible, this is when you will be sedated, possibly uncomfortable, etc. Handle it ahead of time. Good luck. -

Does Only Having 50-60 Lbs. To Lose Discredit Me Wanting Surgery?
Pookeyism replied to akwitham72's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you go by the weight I was when I started all of this (not my highest, that would be much more) I am aout 80-90 lbs down and I could stay here (did for awhile) and I would be a-ok. Doing great actually...and at 60 lbs down I was no longer diabetic, knee hurt much less, and not to mention the general quality of life issues and getting so much more active again - so yes. If you are ready to make a lifetime commitment, it would be worth it, in my opinion. -
Getting Back Off Maintenance Sucks...
Pookeyism posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I say "sucks"? Oh well...it does! Limiting the calories again is ok, because it was a chore to get them in anyway. So I am off maintenance to see how I feel about going a size or two smaller. I did just fine on maintenance, and now, well, 2 weeks into it again and I am still at the same size and up 2 lbs ...lol HMmmm.....(rubbing chin) hmmmm....don't like it at all. Feedback??? -

Getting Back Off Maintenance Sucks...
Pookeyism replied to Pookeyism's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I run, hike, ride bikes, do yoga, kick box, and swordsmanship, and walk upwards of about 4 miles a day for work...and weight train. I also fired my gardner as of 2 months ago. lol -yup, I think I just expected more, sooner... -
Ill take it!
