Thrush And Nasty Taste
Pookeyism replied to klperry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ketosis does seem to be the culprit, but generally it is urged to go see an eye, ear and nose doc if you are having issues after surgery. Yeast and fungal infections of the throat and esophagus can be serious issues. -
I think I am going to have to customize a few bras - the girls are def gettin smaller (not a problem, in my opinion), but as they get smaller, my chest muscles are (!) bulking up again - so they are spaced apart a bit - it is, in my opinion looking a bit ridonculous to try to keep pushing them into the center of my chest, as most bras try to do... anybody else???

Am I Loosing Fast Enough? (Got The Sleeve At 154#)
Pookeyism replied to vssupermodel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think they are responding to some very real concernes...and I would be curious to know who her doctor was. There are always going to be times you are confronted with being asked questions without knowing all the facts, and you have to decide how you will react. I chose to react in saying your face looks extremely thin, and given some of your verbage in other topics, starting weight and , yes, even the online name chosen, please...make sure you need to lose more weight. -
Fearful Of Upcoming Pcp Appt

Yup! You should have a very good relationship with any professional you have to pay to see!!!! -
egg beaters is good - it sounds silly but if you cannot yet eat veggies, juice them and add the juice to the egg beaters! You can make a really good spinach "omlette" that way. Caviar is good. chicken in a can worked for me, roast beef too. Imitation and real seafood - she crab soup blended in with imitation crab was smooth and tasted very good.

I never counted the calories. I aimed as high daily for protien avoiding carbs for about 2-3 months, somewhere(ish/sort of) in there I egan to get back into veggies some more - but always limited carbs/no transfat/no refined sugar and always focused on protien. The last few months has found more of the same, with more veggies and fruit and nuts, etc. I have been with myfitnesspal on and off, so that is counting calories, I guess. It helps me focus, but I do not always like what I see. I have noticed a trend that as work is getting more hectic, my protien is way down. Consider a myfitness pal.com

Whether or not you take aspirin should really be discussed with yor doctor - too late for you but any pre-sleevers or those inclined to kake aspirin ask, because: You are healing, and it involved alot of blood vessels, also this stresses you in various ways that can also affect your circulatory system. Besure you are not anemic, becoming so, etc...new varicose veins, previous ulcers and or blood clots or free bleeding, etc. are all good indications you should not take aspirin now. With that said, I DO know of 1 (yes just one, but) complication directly related to taking aspirin post-op. She developed bleeding on the exterior staple line. not a fissure or leak, but a blood vessel that would not close. The doctor thinks it would have healed on its own had she not been a regular aspirin user.

Exercise And Weight Loss After Surgery
Pookeyism replied to Mrtiger1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The role exeercize takes on is complex...but yes it is important - not absolutely necessary so if you cannot do much, it will still be worth it to do anything you can. On a basic level, it gives you a sense of accomplishment, allows the body to work as it should, as it was designed to. Long term exercize - even very light exercize - but in a routine consistent manner, has been shown to help the body "reset" a negative clock. You can literally reset your biological age with consistent exercize. Lol - could go on about exercize, but I am at work! :/ -
tums sugar free are really good for that - also be sure to work out whether or not it is head hunger...are you getting back into old routines, old "triggers" read The Power of Habit by Dughill...if at all possible to follow any advice I give here, read this book, read it again, and then go through and make notes...it is an invaluable aid, a life tool, in my opinon.

I Haven't Lost Anything In Almost 3 Weeks...
Pookeyism replied to going_down's topic in Food and Nutrition
There is more to your body than fat, and while you lose that, or really "burn" it, you may not lose weight because you body will hold onto other things - it all has mass, and it all has weight. It is a natural progression and often why people slip off the bandwagon on normal diets, and here...stick with it! -
I Almost Cried In Catherines
Pookeyism replied to gaye jarvis's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I told my hubby I am going to make a farewell trip into Lane Bryant - pick up a few sweaters on the super cheap - they always had so many left over in their smallest sizes, lol...and they will still be baggy! -
Yes, nothing we face on a day to day basis compares to what we dealt with then, or would have dealt with if we had continued. I was facing limited mobility - I could do alot "for my size" but as I got older I could feel it. Type 2 diabetic - now in remission for 7months (a1c less than 5 each time). Asthma - not nearly as bad. Inevitable knee replacement surgery (I had a flesh eating bacteria in my knee about 16 years ago and it ate the middle of my kneecap) - not so inevitable anymore. So much more, it changes it all, at least a little.

I use chocolate and vanilla with Water, and I have used vanilla with skinny cow ice ceam, coffee, chai tea, another scoop of unjury strawberry, and more unflavored I have put in green juices, v8, tomato juice, soup, and chicken spread (dont laugh it was good - ok you can laugh, but it was good) I put unflavored in hood chocolate beverage, and I have mixed it with a low cal egg nog... I like unjury the most because it is really versatile.

Your costs should go down, really. Maybe buying in bulk is not as good of an idea as it seems...are you throwing away alot? Is someone eating more than they were? It can be less expensive to buy good quality. My hubby gets lean meats, cubes them into pieces that are sbout 2 oz after cooking, and I can prep or dress them the way I want.Cutting them the way he does makes them easy to freeze, fast to thaw/marinate etc. Veggies should be an after thought...and a daily trip by a market is better for that, in my opinion. I don't know what kind of shake you are buying to see if you could be getting a better deal elsewhere.

Halloween Nsv's - Let's Hear (See) Them!

Gouhls and drools, I have been waiting for this thread for 10 months!!! Let's hear them! Mine are the shoes!!! No boot is too small (well almost)!!! -
Strong bright light headed your way!

compression garments are not going to help that much, it just isn't how the skin is made... It cannot be stressed enough how Water, a rounded, healty diet and light, repetitive, daily toning of the entire body helps the most. Genetics will also play into this, some people are not going to recover as much. I am trying to imagine what you are describing to use to hide your arms...and I must say it sounds really uncomfy!!!

One Week Out?...not Full Off Oatmeal!
Pookeyism replied to 052407's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would avoid the carbs, one of the things that helps the initial weight loss the most is ketosis, which cannot be achieved if you are eating vry many carbs at all. Stick to your protien shakes, and if you can handle oatmeal, consider chicken spread in a can, or pureed seafood - or she crab Soup, pureed...caviar eggs are good at this phase too...but chew enough to pop them all. Scrambled eggs or egg beaters is good too. -
Questions For Long Timers
Pookeyism replied to Cholula's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ar you referring to this site? Because this is almost totally sleevers. use the search feature to find relevant posts such as year out, 6 months out, reached goal, maintenance... I have had alot of Success and am 9+ months out...no issues with Vitamins or such, I take a multi and about every third day whether I have been good with intake or could not get enough food in, etc, I wil have a shake that has he supplements added, just to be safe. I think the long term conditions are really based more on your short term habits while you were adjusting and losing (I was on maintenence but decided to go another size down)...if you treat it as another diet, don't deal with your old habits, tackle the new issues, etc, it can ricochet and be just another diet, but if you continue to eat small bites, not drink liquids with your meals, eat protien first, etc you really can't avoid success, it will happen. -
You will be sleeved on Halloween! Wow! But if I recall you did not Celebrate that much the last time I was in UK in the fall... But anyway! Woo-hooo!
