    The Last 60 Lbs

It sounds like you are doing fine. There is even a good argument or two for doing a small maintenance period after about 100 lbs. Stalls are common, just seacrh the topic here you will come up with 100's of topics and replies. When we lose weight it isn't just about the burning the calories thus reducing the lipids. You body can store other things it anticipates it will need as you lose weight. It will shed them, however. You can have a stall break quickly, or slowly, a pound at a time, or WHOOSH! You are on the right track, log your foods. If not already consider checking out myfitnesspal.com. You got this, let it take time if it needs to.

I Have A Conundrum Need To Vent....

I don't mean to be the bummer, but depending on your laws he sure can let you go. You menationed he said you were nt perfect but the office liked your work - request (now bot before you begin to train ANYONE) a full assessment of your duties and on a scale of 1-5 how you are performing AND a general ACCEPTABLE or UNACCEPTABLE. If you have a glowing review or even a passable one, and can get i email somehow that they are advising you the training is a temp only basis, yo uwill have a better chance of arguing the disability act - it is harder to prove than it sounds.

    The Beginning Of My Journey

It is a diffiult first step, I looked into surgeries and such for 10 years before I decided to get the sleeve, and while I was leaning to "finally do something" if I had not been diagnosed with a tumor in my tummy I dont know when I would have done it. I was, however, very finally ready, and had already lost a bit of weight, so there is the negative of allowing 10 years to slip by, but the positive that I waited for the sleeve. Good luck in your journey!

    Setbacks

Get a list of doctors they cover, and call and see which ones cover the sleeve, and then provide them with a list and tell them to choose.
  7. If you have any books you are no longer reading or going to use with any relevance to VGS, WLS, food, habits, self-help, workbooks, etc - or anything you think might be of interest in that general direction, I would be most grateful to take them off your hands - or purchase them if the price is right.

I Have A Conundrum Need To Vent....

This is the type of situation I say need a bit of "pessimistic optimism". Spiffy up your resume, make every minute count, undertrain the newbie , and get yor resume out there, just in case...

I Had A Breakdown At Work Today

Jessica, I am getting ready to walk into a meeting, and I so wish I could respond more, but I know I will forget - work get very hectic! I do want to say, what you are going through is really difficult, but please be sure you are ready for this surgery. Understand why you are overeating, understand what it has done to you - if anyone here says that being enveloped in fat for years, and the impression society give to you that they have of you has not hurt and created issues that perpetuate the situation, is not being truthful to themselves. I do not know you personally - I dont know if you rescue kittens or push down old ladies in sales lines, so I cannot speak of a better part of you - I can say that to yourself you must be truthful and just, compassionate and vengeful - you will need it all in this fight. The process by which we are overweight is a little different in each of us, we all have many of the same variables, but not the same equation. Find your issues, define your wants, strategize and if you are ready, make this happen. We are here, there is someone always here - but you must do it, every step is on you. Message me if I can be of assistance.

    New Here.....should I Do This?

I would start with asking you what do you mean by "everytime they test me I am not diabetic"? Be as specific as you can: morning BG where they test your finger? if so what was the reading? AIC? how often/what was the reading? if neither, what were hey going on? Have you ever kept a meter and done a 7 day/2 hour test? it is where you test every 2 hours starting in the mornings while keeping a food log, for 7 days straight, most likely off your menses.

    Dear Rear :/

Fiber provides alot of advantages to the gut, it gives it the proper work out, which allows it to regulate the passing of food better, it discourages (ugh I know) mucousy discharges and for people prone to diberticulitis - depending on other factors, too - it can help prevent it. If you are eating other food other than the protien shakes, it may not be the protien shakes causing it. Consider going off the shakes for a day or two - that will not affect your protien too much. However, drink Water in its place, so you will not miss the moisture. if the, er, issue persists, then you know it is not your drink, resume that. Then one by one take out the other foods to see what the cause may be. It was suggested to me I have a protien screening once when I was having psroblems like that - they feared I might be developing an alergic reaction to a protien. I did not follow up because it cleared up, so I don't kno wmuch about the screening process - it would have been a skin test in an allergist's office, that much I know. I do not always comment on the most common situations, BTW - because I know you will get repeats of the more commmon scenario's - just some FYI.

    Dear Rear :/

Are you only drinking supplements for your protien? Do you get any fiber?

Two Days And A Wake Up!

Two days out I was k-r-a-z-y! Very excited for you! Keep us posted!!!!
  18. Call your doctor but also schedule a visit with a cardiologist.
  19. Email your doctors nurse or assistant and explain your concerns, and ask in regards for you being willing to see another doctor for such an event, and in light that it was nto you who rescheduled but him, to please urge to the doctor you will be seeing the importance of the approval, and that you cannot have a negative answer based on his not understanding your needs. I would (but this is me) ask if your regular doctor could not just issue an approval, you go not need the appointment, justthe approval - offer to pay a "fee" for his time.
  20. The list above is a very comprehensive list, but you really want t avoid getting to that point. Urine is a very key indication to dehydration, among other things. Also - if you are not edematous (sp?) and you are releasing more than you are consuming, that is going to catch up to you. If you have no conditions that consuming some extra Fluid is harmful to you, then I recommend the "pee drink" - it sounds gross but my aunt called it that and I have stuck with it for years and years. (Except on long car rides) Anytime I would go to the bathroom I would drink about 4-6 oz of Water afterwards...from the tap, that is! I have modified it now but it still helps me get in enough water. It did not work as well the first few months, but now I can get in 2-3 oz of water quickly enough to not turn a bathroom break into a 1/2 hour.

    Shoe Size?

I went from a 9-10 W depending on brand and type, to a 8m, and in heels sometimes 7.5 - no kidding. I was told by an orthopedic therapist that is is due to the weight loss off the soles of the feet, but also we apparently store a bit of fat in the structure of the foot itself.

Anyone Eating & Drinking At The Same Time?

Neilsleeve, the process that food goes through to pass on to your gut is very complex, and if you are chewing as well as you should, and then drinking fluids - as much as you say - you are creating a situation that you are possibly "stretching" out your tummy - and at 4 weeks out may not even be feeling the full effect. Cause and effect are not immediate in the world of sleevers. When you mix liquids, they blend with food that has blended with sliva and gastric juices and are churning - not just passing through, still churning within your tummy. Your stomach does not have the ability to sort out liquids from solids at this stage, beyond breaking them down a bit, and you no longer have the great chamber at all, only the lesser/upper portion...if you mix your foods you are pushing the food through faster than you should, and can lead to many issues, including things that resemble irritable bowl syndrome. if your food is contaminated, you also offer it up to your gut faster than your tummy woud be abel to counter said nasties. Food allergies, it has been argued, can also be traced in some instances to this lesser processed food passing through. Back to the "stretching" - what most people percieve as a physical enlarging of the tummy is often a habit develped in the sensory play between the stomach and the brain - you do not stretch out your stomach as much as create either a delayed sense of fullness, dull said fullness, or even create a pleasurable reward sensation for an increasing level of fullness. Read the blogs of the very successful sleevers - the 3-5 year mark, with no more than 10% gain back - you will see a consistent need to keep these new habits in check. With that said, if I want to drink with my food, I do sometimes. I will pour how much I can have into a mug (never more than a couple of ounces), and reduce my food intake as well AND make sure I have ate no complex foods, like a protien/carb/fiber combo...either protien or veggie.

You Guys Have Got To See This!

Very good! That was in 2011, has she updated anywhere that anyone can find? I could not locate anything recent.
  25. If the hunger hormone is removed do you truly never experience hunger ever? That is false, you can and will experience hunger, as well as have to deal with anything you ever dealt with before. You wull have a new tool – your sleeve- but you will still hav eto deal with the habits, triggers, etc. Morbid obesity is a disease, you need to be prepared to fight it for the rest of your life. Yes still have cravings, and you will have to deal with what causes those cravings – get real info and do real research. The online info is good, but often passed from person to person, much like most mainstream media today. You have to discern the reputable information. 3.people vary on when/if they give up shakes. The food process is a variable that is most constant in that it isn’t – read through here and understand you could be in any range given – make sure you are OK with that. All my doctor required was a well rounded multivitamin, and extra b Vitamins – but very regular blood testing. It varies and depends on what you call regular foods – do you mean go back to your old ways??? Old foods but in “moderation” – this will you make you a dead game sport…you will eventually regain, in my opinion, unless you are ready to let the old habits go – and habits include poor food choices. Of course you can eat anything within moderation, if: Your stomach tolerates it, you really, truly don’t mind going back into old habits and setting yourself up to gain it back. Don’t take this wrong but if you are looking for a cure all, and think this will be easy it is not – it is the hardest thing you will ever do, perhaps other than go on being fat. For me it is harder than being fat, but I will continue to do it because: I had a disease, I was fat. It perpetuated other conditions – some made it worse, some it made worse, and it spiraled. I had bad habits, I used my metabolism disorder give me more excuses, I let my aches and pains slow me down when they should not have – and it spirals more – I waited until I was ready, which is the most positive thing I did – waited until I was ready, and that took 10 years. I wish so much I had been ready before but I was not. Be sure you are prepared, take the time to make sure you are ready on the inside, and that you can do this alone, because I have (majority-wise) observed negative spouses and family ot be a huge obstacle. I had support but it was still hard. I do wish you luck, strength and hope…Namaste.
