Do I really have to do two weeks pre op?
Pookeyism replied to Decembersleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your doctor told you one thing and the coordinator seems to have contradicted him, email them and ask for clarification. To be on the safe side, sick to the liquid till you hear back. There might be more reasons than he was clear with - we are all generally the same design, but our circumstances are unique. Thing is that moderate food will offset the liver storage in some cases - the doctor may feel that is yours. Get some more feedback from your doc. Good luck! -
Caffiene is a diuretic, and for people who have underlying medical conditions, it can dehydrate...for us it can most definately contribute to not retaining enough water. Short term I stayed away from it until I could drink enough water to offset my coffee intake...now I have slipped a bit and I drink it like I did before surgery - that is all day, but not the 8 oz in 15 minutes! I supplement with water. With the exception of TOM I avoid caffiene in pain killers, which has more caffiene than most cups of coffee (but not mine, lol). I was sleeved 1-4-12 and I did not drink any until at least March, then by...hmmm...August? I was back up to 2 cups a day...now more...and yes - I know I drink too much coffee. For like the last 30 years (I am 39).

How long has it been since you surgery? Also - what are you eating?

I was sooo nervous! Good luck! Saving you a seat on the Loser's Bench!

Those big steps feel so good! Congradulations!

I did, it mostly went away after a few weeks, but I actually got the sensation a few times again just a week or so ago...I think the first was that they cannot always account for gravity while making the sutures, so they can "tack ya up a hitch" as a country doc explained to me years ago after stabbing myself with a stick in an cycling accident... This last I think may be a little scar tissue pulling. Good luck...warmth, tenderness, actual prolonged pain is not what I am talking about - that needs a doc's attention. Good luck!

I was still active, but the years taking a toll on me too. With someone like yourself, the two most obvious obstacles to me (of course my opinion) is your head hunger/emotional/habitual eating and dealing with your potential muscle loss... Even if your company does not require it, get in some support format - a nut, a counselor, meetings...get your teammates aware, and demand support. Read!!! The Power of Habit by Dughill is amazing. God bless and good luck!

Bet you are so excited! Good luck to you! Lots of green energy headed your way! -
Nope, I would pre-make them sometimes, and keep them in the blender bottle, shake em and drink them (in a cooler usually - don't ever leave stuff out in Houston, ugh).

Nothing to do with weight loss :)
Pookeyism replied to SweetSaso's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What? I am not leaving you out if I address the Christian faith or the Judaic philosophy. I will continue to do so. I am undersoing a life altering journey, and need and want support from those I feel understand and know me best. When people make a statement about their religion, or not, accept it, or not, and move on. Now, what you did not mention is I have seen others post reference to eastern philosphy, native american beliefs, Catholic, Jewish, Wiccan...so why is Christian what you are aiming at? Why did you mention Christians only? Thing is, you tripped over a heathen's shoe, and I do not necessarily care if I offend you at all... and I am calling it BS where I smell it... there are good, God-fearing people here, do not admonish them for speaking their faith, when it has obviously got them this far... -
I like mediterraniean and ethiopian places fro puree stage...finely chopped meats, and hummus and such.
-
Unless you need the calories, I stick to water... Have you tried Mootopia? 1/2 sugar added protien milk...HEB carries it. there is 12 g protien to an 8 oz glass. It amps up your protien drinks!!

Running/walking progress by St Patricks day
Pookeyism replied to Fiddleman's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Whatever you do - just do it...it really is the most important thing...just-do-it! -
With it being water, maybe not, the swishing back and forth will require more effort than you realize...
-
Stick to it! You will feel better that you did. The preop diet is for liver reduction, but also helps you body get used to the extremely low carb eating (or not eating) you will go through, so it helps get the jitters out of the way before surgery, and you feel better afterwards too. Well "feel better afterwards" is an opinion but from what I gleam from people I talk to it is accurate a large majority of the time.

35 year old planning 2 have the sleeve done
Pookeyism replied to toy27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hmmm... Toy27, no offense because I know I am horrible speller and my phone is no help, but consider editing that a bit, so we can follow - it will help you get better responses. Are you saying you have no support from who? siblings? children? in your home/outside your home? Hubby doesn't want to miss work and you are the only one with a license? It is going to be hard with or without help. If your husband does nto want to miss work, then suggest to him he has however long till your surgery to make sure he has other arrangements to get back and forth...his responsibility not yours. Now - make you your respnsibility, since it seems no one else is...find a support group, message me here if you would like. God bless, good luck. -
Feeling old in my skin today
Pookeyism replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can be a sign on dehydration but that is alot of weight to lose...my hands look older also. Get in you Water, you can usually tell by the color or your urine, it should never be very dark, with exeption of mornings ,somewhat. meds can affect this. Use some lotion a few times a day, get in a wide variety of amino acids and you daily Multivitamin. If it is dehydration it will go away, of not that should help a little anyway. Check with your pharmacist (not doc - pharmacist) and see if they are aware of it being an indication of any problematic developments with meds/combo of meds... Beyond that, heck, wear it as a badge. I know people saw the size 28-26 me, I doubt too many people give a whiz about my wrinkly hands, lol. -
