Endoscopy Tomorrow!
Pookeyism replied to ThikNjuCee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk to your anest. and explain your worries...go over all your meds. If you have Asthma or are on any assistance to sleep make them aware - insist on talking to you anest. before they give you anything to "relax". It should be easy - you are going to look back at this part and go "this was the cakewalk"... Very excited for you! -
I have been eating anti-chili - meat with riced cauliflour and spinnach and butternut squash and lima beans...much better than it sounds!

Problem eating solid foods-can't eat enough!
Pookeyism replied to Holly5.3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Chicken is the hardest for me to eat. Easiest is crab and caviar and oddly, wild boar. Buffalo is good but I have to either put some evoo in it or a bit of turkey fat. Rabbit is very forgiving..most delicate meat ever! -
Steady, stalls and occasional falls.....
Pookeyism replied to KK66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have hit many stalls, I found the scale to be a love/hate relationship. I always went by the fit of my clothes - which was actually the first real reality check for when I began to gain, too. -
there are so many things that are going to make you want to eat - some will be legit but many are body triggers, habits, acid in your tummy - and more. Drink a certain amount, so you know you have enough. Now wait. take an antacid, and if you are still hungry , try to get away from it by doing something you enjoy. Distraction and change of habit have been my biggest allies, and when not used the difference was profound.

Loosing my hair but I can see my feet
Pookeyism replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost sooo much. Cut it all off several months ago (very short) in a do that made it look much fuller. hair is thickening out again, growing really fast (I think the trick there is I never stopped eating my Jello, in addition to multi Vitamins and Water, etc)...I have decided to keep the do for now. One thing that is interesting, I heard of a girl that had a scalp transplant - no s---! Cut the scalp in a t-formation tightened scalp , and redeposited the hair from the t-section to fill in fore-line and either side of her natural part...BUT I CANT FIND PICS!!!! grrrrrr!!!! -
Recent border problems?
Pookeyism replied to amytug's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
There are always recent border crossing issues, and yes, despite whatever you hear, there is always an amount of risk in crossing into another country. Mexico has very different, very real issues that in US courts would be listened to and addressed quickly, while in Mexico your status as an American means very little.Things that get a Mexican tourist perhaps an overnight stay in jail, or even just a ticket, can put you behind bars indefinately. Your Medical Tourism should come with an agent to meet you across the border. Be extremely aware of any paperwork you need, not just upon entry but exiting. I am not up on the situation but there was an instance that the medicine that was filled for a patient was filled in the Nurses name and address, only one of three bottles, but it was a narcotic and it happened to be checked when declared...it was a mess. i don't know how it was resolved but there was issues to jail time, and such...family was able to bribe the girl's way back to the clinic she had the procedure performed, but it could have been worse. Not trying to worry you but it simply isn't fair to be told you are going to be a-ok, okey dokey - understand your risks, read up on the subject - call the mexican consolate and see what publications they have regarding medical tourism. -
pink stuff? anyone make it. good protein and flavor
Pookeyism replied to bbkipps99's topic in Food and Nutrition
perhaps remove whip creme, use only enough water to melt gelatin, then use Mootopia for rest of water (it is half sugars, and 12 g protien for 8 oz)...then as it cools, so it will not denature, add unjury unflavored powder... -
Size 18 jeans and weighing in less than hubby!
Pookeyism replied to Robyn Owens-Miille's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a great feeling, although I wish I didn't weigh less than my hubby (in the sense that I wish he weighed much less, not me much more!). -
Down 15lbs in 3 weeks! Happy
Pookeyism replied to bayareanan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A plocation over a sleeve? i know what you mean, I think - but can you put it into more detail, please? What prompted the decision? -
OMG, I got so self-consious over this once that I stopped allowing my hubby to do laundry - I was convinced he was using the wrong cycle or something and my warehouse sweat wasn't coming off...but it isn't quite like that, it's just, off - like if I were a room I need to open a window more, kinda-sorta...

Taking vitamins but hardest thing ever!i
Pookeyism replied to skinnyfate1004's topic in Food and Nutrition
I take a gummy multi and let it melt in my mouth. Its an agreeable taste and texture, so I have kept it up. Also remember there are protien shakes that have the Vitamins, minerals and such in them , like Celebrate and Chake - you do have some calories in them unlike the straight protien. -
I lost alot of hair, kept trying to figure out what to do...I kept my protien up and took my Multivitamin, made sure to get in foods supportive of keratin production for nails, hair and such AND finally I went to a short haircut. Laugh if you want but I went to Sports Clips, I figured they know how to do the most with thinning hair It worked - now hair is growing back, and growing quickly to boot - I have to go in no less than monthly. Keeping the cut! My stylist has been following my progress and she was so happy for me she hugged me last time, lol.

About 5-6 weeks, but I had complications. -
What kind of advice do you wish you had in the beginning?
Pookeyism replied to college_chick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not necessarily questions I did not ask, but: Confirm he will be following up with you while in the hospital, and not another doctor. Confirm ALLLLLL who will be involved are covered by your health insurance, if going that route. If you have any digestive disorders that run in your family. This can be real important. Get it all laid out how he bills you, and what is covered - to.the.dime. We weary if you are told you have to buy so much of a protien drink or something in advance. This is a red flag for getting a new doctor. Hope that helps! -
nmountrich mentioned a book the other day and I looked at it and I think I might get it..."Eat It Up!" by Dr. Connie Stapelton. the first two chapters are free to review, which is as far as I have got...anyone else? input, please!

Nobody seems to be addressing my ADDICTION to food...
Pookeyism replied to NurseMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is a powerful thing. Scary how much so...get in touch with a counselor and do what you can. Read The Power of Habit by Dughill...it will help you understand alot. It is not a book geared twords overeating, but habits in general...very informative, very helpful. -
I come from a traditional family, and when my grandmother was sick, my grandfather cooked.
-
Look for a book called Yoga for Wimps...it has alot of good workouts.

Pookeyism replied to Anewmeiscoming32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They were sooo helpful! -
Have you tried antacids? It can manifest in some odd ways. I get a jerky feeling superficially ofver my rib cage that goes away when I take antacids.
