Lying about Weight Loss Surgery !

It is one of those things that is up to the individual. Leave space for those who feel more vulnerable in this process. This part of the process is a "walk a mile in someone elses shoes" thing. There will come a time that you want your conversations to vary from the surgery onto the habits you developed, and the healthy things you are doing. It is a phase of the process. Time tells so, so much. Sleeved 1/4/12 5'10" from size 26 to 14.

Indeed! to us all!!! We did it, or you will get there! Yay for us ALL!
  6. Mine was not mixed with anything, but I was told they mix it with blue dye or strong dark purple colors sometimes so that if they did somehow miss a leak, it would be unmistakable coming out of the drainage tube.

    My doctor said...

Ask him will the be the follow up doctor after the surgery. Also, request he clarify " I dont recall" answers. He is a doctor. they HAVE to keep track of their complication rates - they know these things to a precise degree, if for no other purposes to report and be assesed by his practicing liability insurance. Discuss what type of anestisia will be used. Also what kind of pain medication. Just suggestions! Good luck!

    No longer SUPER-mobidly obese!

That is great. The smaller you are at surgery is less complications. Avoid the food funeral jitters! Good luck!
  10. What an awesome NSV! Keep it up!
  11. You may want to ask yourself what is compelling you to even try to eat those things. Why would you even be eating that?!

whoa....everyone, find your breath. We all have different experiences, and doctors are beginnig to recognize the advantages of implementing a sleeve in the same surgery as a lap band removal in some situations. the strongest arguement, Healthwise might be the aspect of having to afford the sleeve. I would assume recovery will be longer, but still... better that the alternatives. I was sleeved at the same time they took out an aggressive (but benign, thank GOD) tumor that had begun to separate the lining of my stomach. They will work on you with other problems. The sleeve is done in the face of many situations, WLS is a late comer to the sleeve - cancer, tumors, trauma (accidents, war) - and more. They can and in my opinion should offer it when having to remove a band, as the rule rather than the exception. Remeber, not all docs give the same info, and not all information is most current.

just when I thought I was ready...

Wow, a recliner? lol - hubby tried that! I said no and pulled my dad's old one out of storage - and never sat in it...(save your receipt! lol) Good luck on you for the cardio - I do not recall if I got one or not - I think I did during one of the marathon test sessions I had to schedule to fit it in over the holidays. The hospital I had my surgery done at scheduled these in "group sessions" for people who were busy. I paid a bit more for one visit, but broke down into trips back and forth, waiting and individual co-pays it was cheaper. There was probably 15 people getting their work done at the same time.

    What's yours like?

I was at 3-4 drinks a day, salad, mild protien. No added carbs, very little fat and no trans fat, refined sugar. That is about all I can recall. Alcohol and soda was a no-no, with the exception of 2-3 oz of wine a day, and coffee until 3 days before. Oh, and Water, water, water!

    Gym, first time, tomorrow

consider yoga. The "yoga for weight loss" programs are bunk, in my opinion. yoga is not for weight loss, but facilitates it. Find a studio with good teachers, a wide variety of times, it does not have to be a beginners class if you are in the right studio! Pose modifications exist so that anyone can participate. PS- but cardio is good too. yoga does not replace cardio, but it enhances EVERYTHING!

    HELP.... TIred All the time!

Whoa on the coffee to start, you will need to add that is some small doses first - trust me. Consider a nap at lunch...or, seriously, pull off the side of the road and move around a little - you might be experiencing a chemical imbalance that has nothing to do with tired...see if you feel that way when doing other, low-key repetitive sitting 'stuff'. Never fight drowsiness in your car. Good luck.

    2/11/13---My Sleeve date

We all had moments. I talked myself out of surgery for 10 years. I am grateful, however, in a way because it would not have been this procedure, and nutritionally I have no idea where I would be, nutrition-wise if I had had a more invasive procedure. It's not easy, but it is worth it. Good luck. God bless.
  25. You are AMAZING. Thank you for sharing, and I am so inspired by your success. Keep up the great work.
