    Problems out of the blue.

It sounds like there is a good chance that you were exposed to something that inflammed your stomach eiher after you ate, during, or possibly before. It could be alot of things, more that the article lists. You probably do not even have to consume them. I had an allergist tell me that now that he has seen alot of patients with VST he is convinced there is much more of a correclation to environment and gastritis. He believes the allergies you are experiencing outside your body are reflected inside much more than the medical community widely recognizes at the moment. It is enhanced when we have such tiny stomachs and have had stomach surgery, to boot. Also, sinus drainange probably aids to hits to our immunity due to calorie readuction, stress of upcoming/post surgery, etc. http://www.buzzle.co...ach-lining.html everytime I have anything near that hit, it does, indeed, go hand-in hand with allergies. Alot of people find relief with Zantac. It has a antihistamine as an ingredient. I am sticking to benadryl. http://www.buzzle.co...flammation.html

Were you experiencing any sinus issues at the same time? Allergies?

    Hiatal Hernia

It means there is a good chance, depending of course on your insurance, and whether or not you were using it, that you will have at least part of the surgery paid for. Keep on top of it, the covered procedures can be alot higher for hernia repairs than to assist with the VSG (so I have been told).

    Just for the ladies

I had regular periods, and one of two things happened (sorry its been awhile). I either skipped a month or it started up early...but it has been regular again ever since, but the cycle start date changed by about 10 days.

Dr. Illan an NSV my first

I have been in full remission since March of '12. It is an awesome feeling (although I will never give up 2x week random tests and A1C tests every 4 months).
  6. Hello everybody. I just wanted to remind everyone of the VST Community Group called Houston Active Sleevers. I started it a very long time ago, just after my surgery, so that makes it about a year and a half old. Orignally the intention was to hopefully get a monthly group together to meet, talk and laugh and exercise. I thought we could center each meeting around an event or a new location each time so the same people would not have to drive huge distances to attend. I also want to share my favorite hang-outs and places to exercize, shop for awesome healthy foods and just kick back and enjoy my new self. If you are not a member, please consider joining. If I can get 100 members, I am going to make a brief monthly calender of things to do in Houston that provide an opportunity to get out and have fun and be active and awesome!!! If you are not nearby I encourage you to locate a group like this in the communities for your area. ***DID YOU KNOW HOUSTON HAS A BICYCLE SHARE PROGRAM ??? WE DO!!! http://houston.bcycle.com/

  8. http://www.northwest...-rides/saturday These bike rides are every saturday, they are group rides. The link explains further. I will be out with a friend that has never rode the Zube Park area (extreme NW Houston, up past Cypress on 290), so we will be going it alone but you could join us, join one of the group rides, etc. After we are probably going to make smoothies, maybe some yoga an dthen probably a run to the Rawfully Organic saturday location. http://www.rawfullyorganic.com/ Everyone is welcome, but you will want to touch base with me before hand so we know you are coming and so we can find each other! There will be dozens and dozens of people, and lots of groups (this is a favorite place to ride on weekends!). Just PM me here. I will check for the last time earliest AM. We will arrive about 7am, leave about 7:30 am. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes. It will get warm, fast. Do your best to start hydrating yourself ahead of time. Bring a helmet!!!! (in '09 91 percent of the people who died in bicycle accidents were not wearing helmets).

    Yoga

    Love my yoga!
  10. http://www.northwestcyclingclub.com/index.php/rides-and-events/club-rides/saturday this is not what we are doing, but it has alot of information, including location, etc and including maps of the 6, 20 and so-on mile courses. We will be in the same location. You can join any of the groups mentioned on the page, or you can ride with us. I have a friend that has not rode the Zube Park area before so we are going it separately from the group rides tomorrow. A friend and myself will be exploring the roads, so there is not a set course for us tomorrow, and the pace will be moderate. Anyone is welcome to attend. I anticipate to leave the park about 7:30 AM, so you would want to be there at least a half hour before that to get parked (parking is tight), unloadedm etc. Please do not forget your helmet and Water bottle. Don't forget to hydrate your body ahead of time. It will be important. Dress to keep cool, it will get warm very fast. We may even end up going swimming or juicing some awesome smoothies for Breakfast afterwards! Also, if you are interested in another bit of awesomeness, you should consider joining the Rawfully Organic Co-op. the larget non-profit organic co op in the USA!!!! http://www.rawfullyorganic.com/index.php

    No more meds

AWESOME! yayayayayayayeeeee! Feels great, doesn't it? the last time I took my meds for type 2 diabetes was pre-surgery, and then three months later I ot my A-1c reading and it was 4.5, and three months later the same and has never moved more than +/- .2 - that was 20 months ago. As of now I am in total remission. My body has been confirmed to be releasing and processing insulin regularly now.

    Eggs

The only thing I did was to not cook them too long - to keep the moisture and to not beak down the protien in the white too much.

confused - are we talking about sex? they told you to wait a year or two?
  14. I think the professionals that work with us sometimes can be not so professional. Even passive-aggressive. Perhaps you should email him and let him know how dissappointing his remark was, and how you feel he could go about handling it better with the next patient. Would be very interesting to know his response. I say this ALOT, but I really do think it would help - please post doctors names in the subject line, it helps people when searching for information related to a doctor, when choosing one.

    is something wrong

Do you mean content or volume?
  16. I am getting probably 1200 or so now, but I also work out alot. I do not know that I ever measured the calories on a per meal per day, however. Now, I DO still look up or refresh my memory on calorie content. It does affect my decisions sometimes.

    loosing to fast?

Fill in some gaps for us...did you discuss calorie intake? Exercise? are you overextending yourself? If you are eating too few calories, in some way, some how that is going to manifest...you need to be very good to your body now. You are making decisions that will determine your success and well being for the rest of your life. When we eat too few calories, eventually we are going to feel that, no matter what we have left of our stomach. kinda fading off point, but still relevant: I read an article from a gentleman that had his stomach and part of his intestine removed after a very bad motorcycle accident, and he was normal weight, never a weight issue, not an excessive eater, not a mild eater, no major habits associated with eating, even - yet he reported being "hungry". His story was a recollection of a journal he kept in the 60's, before the options of how he could feed were as advanced as they are now. His malnurition eventually manifested in his head as hunger. Even if he had no desire to eat, he had a sensation he needed food. His body knew, and the "second stomach" conveyed that information. I think this can happen to us too, if we progress too fast. EDITED: also, ask the doctor WHY, ask them in detail, ask them to support the information they give you, where you can read what they are conveying to you. We have lost weight but it does not mean we are always aware of what is "going on" in our bodies, let alone yours. There maybe something in your history that makes them say that. Alot of people who are on medications also need to be aware that your mass can affect your meds. But if that is so they should address the need to scale down as you progress, and when to start doing so.

    Time line?

I self paid (in most part, but eventually fought that with insurance and got most of it back)and started my visits early Novenber, sleeved January 4th, but I also had a bit of urgency due to a tumor in my stomach.

Amazing change there! What would you say is the most signifiant thing you notice, other than appearance?

    4 Days Post Op

The larget incison can hurt really bad - one of the stitches they put it was tacked a bit too high for me so once I ot up the weight pulled on it...ouch!!!! It fades! Set your phone or an alarm to go off in 20 min increments and drink a half ounce of Water each time. A goal like that helps. EDIT: IF you can drink that fast...dont push it. set the time/volume to your pace.
  21. Lose too much weight? No but I had concerns with malnutrition. My lifestyle now includes dedication to no old school eating. All raw, ripe veggies and fruits and enough protien to provide support to muscle growth and development. I could actually lose alot more weight and be ok. However, for now, I am more concerned with getting used to eating like this, and feeling good. As long as I do not gain, I am ok.

    im so disappointed..

You need another doctor. You also need to recover any costs associated with him not reading your file. Such as pre-surgery prep, visits, anything you will have repeat, pay again, do again. This is malpractice. He by admittance did not review your case enough to matter until the day he was going to cut on you. You are in a meat-mill, in my opinion. You are having your stomach tampered with in either situation. RnY leads to excessive mal-absorption issues, but makes him alot more money. You should also rate this doctor and put your experiences in detail here, and tag his name.

    My first NSV!

For me, it jostled things around alot - and gave me an odd sense of vertigo like it was my inner ear, but coming from my tummy & throat. couldn't tolerate it, and I used to be able to tolerate anything.
