    Not An Oz Lost!

Thanks B-52 you just put it all into perceptive for me.I have been really getting on myself lately. I just need to step back and realize I am still healing and it has only been a month. It's not going to disappear over night. I can't wait to get my first fill next week.
  2. That is great. I can't wait till I can say the same thing. I know one day I will!!! Congrats!!!
  3. This is a good question. I personally don't have a scale at home. I think If I did I would be weighing myself everyday or more than once a day. I know I would be a compulsive weigher. So..I usually weigh myself at my mom's house or at work. Last week I made a trip to my mom's just so I could weigh myself. I felt like I had gained like 20 pounds. It was just my "vistor" making me feel bloated. I am really wanting to get a scale for home but, I feel like it might be a bad idea. I know I would get discouraged. So...I guess mom will be happy I am coming over to visit more often.

You Say The Band Didn't Work

I too have seen the Bandster haters on here. I really don't let their negative responses get to me. I am newly banded and still have alot to learn. Before i had my surgery I did a massive about of research. I was totally informed about what I could expect. i knew that it was not going to a miracle weight loss cure. I knew that I was going to be changing my life forever!!!! So, with that said I must also say I think that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just think that if you have a negative opinion I want to hear exactly why it was a negative experience. I have not read why she is unhappy with it. Just that it didn't work for her. I know I have read other peoples negative experience with the band and can relate to why they had a bad experience. Example, surgery complications, slippages, and other complications. I think that it is good to hear the good and the bad in this forum. It helped me when I was in the decision stage when I was just a lurker. I must say that all to good out weighed the bad for sure and I think it will be one of the top three decisions of my life!!! I look forward to my 1 year anniversary December 16th of this year and seeing how for I have come.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

I suggest sip sip sip the water. I think tea or broth was the best for me after surgery. The warmth of it made my belly feel better. Also...walking helped my gas pains. Just walking around the house or going to the store for a little shopping. Some people have said that Gas X helped them. I didn't try it. The walking did the trick for me. My gas pains were all gone about a week after surgery. Hope you start feeling better soon. Remember it is going to take time.

    Plateau During Period????

I was banded on 12/16 and had my TOM last week. Up till then I had been dropping weight pretty steady. I figured that my TOM showing up and I have added a little more mushie/semi solid food to my diet. My doctor said it was fine to start adding a little more to my diet.He said that just to make sure I really chew up my food. I have mainly been adding fish. I haven't had any problems. Nothing has made me sick or stuck. I eat really slow and chew like crazy. I have really been just listen to my band. I feel the fullness and I am done. I feel like that this week since my "friend" is gone I am sure I lost some weight this week. I am thinking it was just bloating last week from my "visitor". I must add....I have PCOS and have had irregular cycles all my life. So, when my "friend" showed up last week I was pretty excited. I am pretty sure it's because of the weight I have lost so far. YAY!!!

    Do You Chew ???

I started chewing it because about a week after surgery I felt like I had horrible breath all the time. I have never before surgery had a problem with swallowing gum and don't think I will now. It doesn't upset my stomach or anything.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Hi all you December Banders- I was banded on the 16th. I have lost a total including my pre op diet. 22lbs. I have been feeling pretty good. My incisions were looking good but, yesterday they started turning red around them and itch like crazy. They have me a just a little worried. I know that the scale is probably going to slow down now that I am eating more and not just liquids. I am still on mushy foods and that is going pretty well. I must say that I think I have been pretty good. I have not ate anything that has made me sick or over ate anything. I am listening to my band!!! I am watching how much I put into my body and learning how to control my urges. It is a beautiful thing!!! I have been doing a little bit of walking. I am looking forward to hitting the gym next week. The treadmill and I are going to be best friends!!! Looking forward to seeing how everyone is doing in the new year.
  9. I think you still have to heal and should not worry to much yet. I can't believe you have 6cc already. I went to my follow up appt. last week. I was banded on the 16th. I have lost 13lbs since my surgery. He said that I have about 1 to 2 cc in my band. They put some in to check it at the time of surgery. Then on the first fill they usually put 2 to 3 cc in. He said that since I have lost so much total including my pre op diet ( 9 lbs). that I should just weigh myself once a week the next 6 weeks and when I start to slow down then call to schedule a fill. I am still doing liquids and soft food. I have been trying small amount of foods just to see if I can handle it. I think just take it one day at a time and heal yourself. Your body has been through alot and it takes time to get it back to normal.

    My Emotional Meltdown

Thanks everyone! I I think that it I was just overwhelmed by all the changes. I just feel so blessed and thankful. I can feel how this is going to life changing for me. I am so excited. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.
  11. Today way my follow up appointment for my procedure. It went great. I lost ten pounds since last Friday which was my surgery date. A total of 19 pounds lost including my pre op diet. My incisions are healing up well. He said that I am doing very well. He didn't even want to schedule my fill appointment yet. He wants to see how well I do for the next six weeks. If I start to stop losing weight to call and schedule a fill. Wants me to take it slow on the muchies just easy my way into them. He wanted to try a little for my dinner tonight. Just a few bites or something with Protein. He suggested Beans of some sort. So..it went well. I drove home so proud and excited about the weight I had loss and the idea of my life being changed in such a wonderful way. I got home and shared my exciting news with my fabulous hubby. He was so excited and proud too. We started talking about dinner and what we were going to do. I have not been to a restaurant since my surgery. I really didn't want to go out but, I didn't really know what I wanted. I just started to break down. I just felt like I was starting all over. Like I didn't know what to eat or what would be good. I think it might of been just the realization that this is really going to work for me. To lose 19 pounds in three weeks. Is just amazing to me. I can only imagine once I start exercising and being more active how this is going to be such a fabulous decision I made. My husband said I was probably having a break down because I have been so strong and dedicated so far and I just need to let some of the fear I had out. Which I think he is right. I have all the list of foods I an have I just need to start trying different thing to make some variety. Just feel so lucky and I think I was a little overwhelmed. I am so thankful for this forum. I have learned so much and so grateful.
  12. I was banded on Friday Dec.th. I was planning on just taking off that Friday and go back to work on Monday. But, I figured I have the time to take off I just went ahead and took a whole week off. Which I think was a great idea. I think I would of been alright to go to work on that Monday but, sure glad I didn't. I got a lot of stuff done for Christmas and lost of needed R&R. Everyone is different. I just mainly felt tired easily and a little pain where my incisions are. Good luck and remember to just listen to your body.

Knot In Area Of Lap Band Incision

I just had my post op appt today and my doc said the same thing. Scar tissue forming. My port is on the right side where my biggest incision is.
  14. I was banded on the 16th. I am still having a little gas pains. I do think that walking helps. I have went out a few times the last couple days and walked in the stores. The pain meds have helped me through the night. I just keep saying to myself it will get better. Each day has been better. I have my follow up appointment Thursday. I am looking forward to it. Hope you start feeling better.
  15. I did the two weeks of liquids for pre op and then the day before was clear liquids only. No bowel clean out. I don't think that there would of been anything to come out. I was pretty clean after the two weeks.

    PCOS.. Who's got it?

I found out I had PCOS when I was about 26. After ttc for a year on our own my ob/gyn referred me to a specialist. We did some fertility treatments and nothing worked on helping us have a baby. My ob/gyn put me on metformin and it helped drop some weight at first. I was always in the bathroom when taking it though. My doctor just kept saying lose the weight and you will get pregnant. I had tried everyting, diets, pills, and everything else. I have never had regular periods my whole life. So...I am hoping that my lap band will be my assistance that I need to get healthy. PCOS is such a mystery for some people. it is different in everyone.

    December Bandsters!

Tomorrow is my big day. I am so ready for this. I am already feeling my appetite shrink. After the first three days of that pre op diet it has been pretty easy. I think it is a good think I love soup. I have had some cravings but, when I think about it I grab my glass of water and sip away. I am looking for my mini vacation from work too. Just a little bonus of having the band done. I look forward to my new adventures and being part of the band family.

Dr. David Bruce - Hello?? Anyone out there??

I am in the Dayton area. I find that this website is a great support source......so far. I think there is alot of info on here. I plan on going to the ladies premier fitness in Huber heights to do my workouts. I had already joined there last year in a attempt to lose some weight and it helped but, not enough. So..I am hoping that I will have a better outcome. When did you get your band? Did you stay the night when at the hospital when you had it done? I am getting pretty excited and nervous. I would love to stay in contact. I actually don't get on facebook that often anymore. So, you can feel free to either find me on here or email me at my personal email dianadaisy72@yahoo.com I would love to hear more about your experience with the band. Talk to you soon, Diana
  22. I am only telling a few people. My husband, my mom, sister, and a couple of close friends. I only choose this because I know how most of my coworkers are and I just don't want to deal with them. I plan on just telling them I am on a diet and working out. It works out well with the start of the new year resolution time. I think maybe later if someone ask I might tell them. But for now I think that this is the best way for me. I have a lot people in my family that have had some sort of WLS and understand. So, I will probably eventually tell more of my family. Till then..the diet and exercise thing will be my answer which is the truth. I think that each person is different and the people around them are different is accepting peoples down falls.

Liquid Diet Is Making Me Crazy!

I am on day 9 of my pre op diet. I must say the first three days were the worst of it. I only really had cravings for something crunchy. I had planned on eating some stuff that wasn't on my diet tonight. We had our christmas dinner at work tonight and tomorrow is my birthday so I figured I would have a little something. Which even that I stayed under 1000 calories for the day today. Had my shake this morning. my broth for lunch and my christmas dinner. Which I think is great. Back on the liquids tomorrow. My surgery is Friday. I am getting excited and nervous. I wish all you pre op dieters luck. Just think of it as a stepping stone to the new you.

    Pre Lap Band Surgery Diet

I am on my pre-op diet right now too. My surgery is the 16th. I have been on my sugar free, pretty much liquid diet for a week now. I have been having broth, soup, Jello, pudding, applesauce, popsicle s, and oatmeal. I have been following pretty well. Today, we celebrated my sister and my birthday. I had a salad and very small slice of pizza. Which I think is alright. I have been counting calories and even with the pizza I came in under 1500 calories. I really think it is like a test run for how to make better decisions for after the surgery. I am going to break out the blender and try some new things just to change it up so I don't cheat. My doctor was not really to worried about the diet either. He said it just makes for a faster and recovery to lose a little weight before. Also it helps shrink your liver so it makes it easier for the surgery. I just keep thinking that if this is what I have to do to start my new adventure in this life then I will do it.

Pcp Says No Alcohol With Lap Band?

My doctor said the occasionally having a drink won't be a problem. he said that it will probably effect me quicker than before. I also wondered about how beer effected lap band patients. I like an occasional beer. I am talking one or two a month.
