  1. Congratulations on your weight loss. I see the other posters here have given some good advice. One more piece of advice I can add is, do not weigh yourself everyday, it will send you on an emotional roller coaster. Pick one day a week and try to weigh yourself at about the same time of day every week. Good Luck on your journey.

    Newbie Bandit...trying To "adjust"

I'm glad you are coping with your new lifestyle and, sorry for the loss of your friend. I know that these times can be tough but I myself had some issues and I found that a psychologist was a great help to get me through the hard times. If it were not for one of these people I would have failed in my journey so far. Getting help does not mean your crazy but sometimes it helps to be able to talk to someone who will give an unbiased opinion. Good luck on your journey and I hope I may have said something that helped.

    Help... Newbie And Scared

When you first have the surgery, the band is put into place but it is not filled to allow for the swelling to go down. The reason they put you on those diets is to prepare you for what is to come when you have your band filled. I would recommend to follow the doctors suggested diet closely so you can prepare for what it will be in a few weeks. I didn't get my first fill until 6 weeks after surgery.

What To Eat/drink Before And After Workout?

I'm sure everyone is different but, as for myself, If I eat before a workout I get sick during the workout so, mine is to eat after the workout. I do remember one of my meetings where they mentioned drinking Gatorade G2 or Powerade Zero as a replacement for the water you lose during a workout. Good Luck I hope you figure it out.
  5. I just saw an advertisement on this site as I was signing on ... it's called Unjury
  6. Thanks .... I myself lost 28 pounds in the 2 weeks I was on the liver shrinking diet. I hope the best for you .... Good Luck
  7. The diet they had me on allowed 1 fruit a day. To be honest I see a lot on here where they are on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery, that's new to me. I will say that my biggest help was non starchy vegetables, I was able to eat all I wanted, green beans and carrots was most of my diet for 2 weeks. My doctor also told me that the key to the liver shrinking diet was to keep the carbs down. I reccomend doing what the doctor says but if you should slip in a banana in your smoothie, who's gonna know

    Thinning Hair???

I do not have that problem but, I have been told by my nutritionist that insufficient protein levels will make your hair fall out. They recommend at least 60 grams a day. I try to do at least 100 grams of protein a day. Hair loss can be caused by other things such as illness or genetics but I would start with trying to add a lot of protein to your diet.

My Fitness Pal - Wanna Be Friends?

You can add me. I am new to this site but have had my band for 3 months now and I'm willing to help any way I can.
  10. I know that right after surgery your stomach is still swollen and you cant eat but a little bit, My doctor had me on a liquid diet for a week and mushy foods for two weeks and then I went to regular food. I can say that the feeling never changed for me until I was able to eat regular food. you can buy instant dry milk to help get more protein in your diet, just mix about 1/3 cup in a dairy product and you'll never know the difference. If your doctor didn't fill the band during surgery then you will notice that, as the swelling goes down you will be able to eat more and, getting your water in becomes much easier. good luck

    Working Out ..

I workout all the time. Right after surgery I did what I could because of the limitations. I realized something, the surgery and recovery was a breeze. It probably would not have been that way if I had not been working out. Lean muscle burns fat and helps fill the skin that becomes loose. You have to consider it this way, Do you workout and build the muscle that helps you burn the fat, or do you not do anything and you still lose weight but, you have a bunch of flabby skin hanging off of you
  12. Right after surgery there is some gas and sometimes it does cause pain. This pain also shows up when you eat or drink too much or too fast. I would recommend to slow down and make sure you are chewing your food enough. The next thing you have to learn is how much you can eat or drink before you get to that point and stop. If you eat any more after this point it will cause major chest pain and there are only two ways to ease it. 1 you can wait for the food to pass 2 if it gets too bad it will cause you to vomit. Remember to not drink for 30 minutes before, during or, 1 hour after your meal. I will suggest you have some Papaya Enzyme on hand to help with digestion when your having trouble.

    It Happened

I know that feeling and about the only thing I can recommend is to go buy Papaya Enzyme or a papaya. This helps break down the food. I will recommend the enzyme, it's much cheaper and can be found at Wal mart or many places that sell vitamins.
  14. I hope you do well with your diet. If you take the chicken or turkey and turn it into a salad, you could be eating it during your temporary mushy food stage. Just another piece of advice, learn these diets because when you have a fill you need to follow them again. (liquid for 1 day and mushy foods for 2 days) As for myself the only meat I have trouble with is beef, ground beef is fine (you can do ground beef during your mushy diet as long as you have it in a sauce) I have major trouble with steaks. I hope something here may have helped.
