Congrats Sherry on your date!! I have only been banded 1 week so this is still all so new to me. This site has been very helpful to me!! I also have BCBS Federal and I had no problem getting covered (except for having to wait until 2007). I had the absolute worst headache for 3 -4 days after surgery due to what I believe caffeine withdrawals..I was a heavy Diet Coke drinker...You are doing it the right way by starting to drink less of it..believe me you'll be happier in the end...(I do still miss it though). Disco Diva, Glad to hear you both are doing good (except for the ole port hole).. I have the same pain there but I'm guessing that's pretty normal. How was the mashed potatoes??? I am only allowed liquids for the first 2 weeks. I guess I'll find out more after my 2 week checkup. I'm not hungry but I do feel light headed sometimes. I don't think I am getting enough protein..How about u? I was told 60 grams a day but thats very hard to do when u can only take a few oz's in at a time..I did get on the scale too. I might be down 10 but that's the 10 I probably gained the night before surgery..lol Are u enjoying this nice sunny weather?? I wish I had a little more energy and I would get out there and walk...maybe tomorrow.. Keep in touch, Missy

Congrats kuebelJ!!! That will be here before u know it....I was banded on 2-14-07 but only knew that date 1 week before. You will have plenty of time to prepare...

Hey Disco Diva, Good to hear from another valentines day bander... Each day seems to get a little better, however I still sometimes wonder if I made the right choice. I know as I start loosing weight I will probably be alot more happier with my decision. I am still sore. I think my coughing has had a lot to do with that. I don't see the doctor again Mar. 1. Hopefully then I will be able to go to soft foods. I miss my food!!How is the other diva doing?? Does she live with u? That is great that u both did this together. My husband of 21yrs in April has been very supportive. He's from New Castle Indiana, were are your grandkids from?? Are you from OHIO?? Keep in touch, Missy

Did anyone else feel a little depressed after the surgery. mine was four days ago and i feel a bit depressed :phanvan ive been getting little sleep and im still in a little pain. help the liquids suck any suggestions?

Hi, I also wanted to briefly introduce myself. (I tried this the other day but I don't think it worked). My name is Missy. I'm 47, married, and have 3 children. 1 in college, 1 senior in HS, 1 sophomore in HS. I work 8 - 9 months a year for the government. I live in the Cincinnati area. I was banded on 2-14-07 by Dr Sonnenstine at Tri State Surgical WL. He is in KY at St Luke hospital. I have enjoyed reading and posting on this forum. I find it very informative!! I have been going thru a little depression wondering if I have made the right choice by being banded. I am still very sore...I had a cough going into surgery and it hasn't gotten better much after surgery. So needless to say IT HURTS WHEN I COUGH!! I still have 1 - 2 weeks before I need to go back to work. Hopefully this will give me plenty of time to get adapted to those lovely liquids!! I've only been doing yogurt, popcicles,broth,Carnation Instant Breakfast, pudding, jello, crystal light, and water. Oh and I add some protein powder to some of that. Any suggestions for anything else?? What are protein shakes and where can you find them???? I could go on and on but for now I'll just end with I'm glad I found this Ohio group of banders.....

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. Today is better!! It's only been 6 days since post op and I know I have to give it more time. I still hope that I made the right decision.... Minimee...Good luck on the 23rd....
