I am just an hour plus south of SF too. Maybe a support group or meeting sometime?

Good luck to you

Love to hear long term success stories. They help us seasoned bandsters keep on. Congrats. It sometimes is not an easy journey. But worth it!!

Not sure what a rev wrap is ? Tortilla like flat bread ish wrapped around ?? ???´???–do tell. And did you tolerate it?

I love this anology. I sooo have a love hate relationship with my band.B 52....you are hilarious
Thanks for the great words. It is an inspiration to me. And I am not easily impressed or inspired. But today I am!

Thanks for all the responses. It helps me to see most people do not think broaching this subject is good form. Only in response to questions is what I am reading.
Of course I knew 7 years ago,Before my journey into WLS that I was interested in something that appeared to last. Rather than taking off 30 lbs. gaining 32. Etc. I would have liked to hear some options. But I'm hearing that is only me. Any thoughts?
-
I don't know the answer ! When I see aquaintances that are gaining large amounts continuously, I am torn whether to casually mention WLS as an option. I am not suggesting any put downs. Just an autobiographical. "This worked for me". Does this sound right to other seasoned bandsters? Sign me Unsure

This was great...thank you....i'm one of those "not telling anyone at work because it becomes EVERONE'S business!!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Good info. I chose not to tell many. Years later I'm glad I did. I can still give info to anyone I want right. Can't unring a bell tho. Good luck

Would love to see a 2 yr.post group. 4 year group. 6 yr group. There are enough of us that things do change a bit after longer periods. Veteran bandsters is good. But not quite specific enough. What do ya think ?

Good stories. Sometimes we forget this is a marathon. Not a sprint. Let us get thru a few years. it certainly helped to get people used to the new you. They go stop commenting. Eventually. Hopefully❤

Went to the eye doctor and you know that thing you have to hold onto so they can look in your eyes? You know' date=' where you have to put your chin in the rest, and keep your forehead on the bar? I remember having to hold on for dear life because my big fat self couldn't get my head where it needed to be. Well, no problem this time. I got my chin in the rest easily and there was plenty of room in the chest area because the big massive boobs are no longer in the way. Loving the normalcy that comes without being obese anymore. In fact, I went out to dinner with my family last week and my sister, who is very heavy, did not sit next to me as I expected she would. I realized she wouldn't be able to sit in that spot because it was too close to the wall and there wouldn't have been room for her so I slid over to that chair so mom and dad would be able to sit together on the other side of me. I fit in that space next to sis just fine and said a silent prayer that I didn't have to worry about table space anymore, or fitting into a booth, or fitting into a chair with arms. It's truly a wondrous thing![/quote']
Isn't it glorious to not worry about. Where to sit??Airplane seats. Restaurant seats. Car back seats
Folding chairs. I watched a close friend collapse am aluminum folding chair. We did change our life!!

I had to wear those genie bras for the first two weeks because they were soft' date=' flexible, and did not press on my port. I am 1 month out now and it has gotten better and I can wear the underwires now without problem.[/quote']I have not heard of genie bras
-
Well put. Ignorance is everywhere Informed is educated. Even in weighty issues❤

I think I need bras. The "girls" just aren't as perky as I'd like them to be. Gotta lift em up a bit. Some bras do hurt my port tho
-
Yes. That word normal again. Whatever that is to each of us. Just didn't want to continue to fight xxl for me. Wanted to be comfortable no matter what the circumstance. Some people want size 6. Some of us are happy at size 12. Depends what your view if normal is! Good luck

I also have a port where my bra touches and it gets sore. Even after years. Other places for ports may be better? Anyone have ports not under your boobs? Do tell

Oh Arlene...I just burst out laughing at that remark. Thanks!
Me too. Couldn't agree more.

My solution when I'm going thru a tough spell of sometimes accepting/ sometimes not. A Baggie can be helpful in the car. Not a tissue. Truly. Just my humble suggestion after almost 7 years.
Wish I could know what sets mine off. I just know it takes a good day or two to relax

Regarding flying. It does seem to irritate my band. I hydrate and all but I have to be very gentle for the first day or so.
I have good luck with Protein Bars I order off the Internet. they don't "stick". I try for at least 15 grams of Protein per bar. Around 150- 180 calories. Gotta find what works for you

Thank you ladies for being so encouraging!Im not going to let this get me down.. Im actually more motivated than ever!

I think of this as a marathon. Not a sprint. Have Long term faith and keep on eating well and doing what you can to move your body. Best of luck!

way to go taraGreat job. Slow and steady down. Beats slow and steady up like before right? Keep on
-
a loss is a loss..........not a race to finish line....keep going' date=' you will get theremaybe not as fast as some but in your time too..great job...[/quote']
I agree about the scale going down slowly. Some of us have to remember the scale would be slowly going UP. If not for this intervention. I'm so happy I changed my life 7 yrs ago!!!

I try to not have diet sodas. I'm just not sure they have any redeeming value. I used to really like them pre op. trying to do better for my old body. Vodka cranberry. Now that I can do occasionally

San Francisco Bandsters?
in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Sounding like there are a few of us in the South Bayish area I am open to trying to meet to be with others on this band journey. Except for this forum, I only have one other friend who had the sleeve surgery. Any ideas?
