Tender Port Area - 3 Weeks Post Op
Julie norton replied to harmony11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have also heard of ports being placed in different areas. Some by belt line, some by bra line. Wondering what is common. Mine gets a bit irritated when my bra rubs it certain times. Any one else? -

Julie norton replied to ilikebunnies's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for the info. I am always interested in what is new in the WLS world. Sounds like it is working for you. Please keep all of us informed of your personal journey. I, myself , was banded in 2006. One of the best decisions of my life. Not without pitfalls however. Sure helped with the onset of menopause( whole other post) best wishes for success -

Fell Off The "band Wagon" After One Year, But Getting Back On! Any Help?
Julie norton replied to hokiemama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I liked what you said about not being huge. EVER. And I could have gone that way. In my previous self. Not now. Worked too hard. For too many years..... to go back to being so tired. And not liking ME. That being said. Life is about choices. And a cocktail shall be my choice next week!,,with diet lemonade -
Fell Off The "band Wagon" After One Year, But Getting Back On! Any Help?
Julie norton replied to hokiemama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for the comments. Like I mentioned it is nice to see some seasoned bandsters chat about the long haul. 4 years for you. That is great. Think if you hadn't done it and the weight kept going up. Crummy week to not lose. But you did it. Menopause is not helpful in my case. But also me and my personal journey. And vacation and cocktails coming. Fun !!! not helpful for weight loss. Sigh. Still. Looking forward to it❤❤ -
I also say keep trying. Perhaps a little $ to his office and a mea culpa. Better than regaining all. Your doctors attitude is important. But not more than yours. Another doc is a possibility. Probably have to pay up front... Worth calling and asking about. Please don't beat yourself up. We are so good at that with our uncooperating bodies. Aren't we? It is sometimes hard for us all i bet Learning daily !! to love myself. Most days are great...sometimes that old love/hate thing rears its ugly head and I think this site helps Keep on your journey

I truly see no other prescription that people insert themselves between the doctor and dispensary. Seems like a quandary I think in general most people listen to and trust their doctors recommendations. That being said I do live in California. Rather be around a smoker than a drunk if I could choose other peoples status. Which I can't ❤

Fell Off The "band Wagon" After One Year, But Getting Back On! Any Help?
Julie norton replied to hokiemama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So nice to see some seasoned bandsters chat about how it is not just unicorns and rainbows for years. The honeymoon does wear off at some point, does it not? I think it is difficult and I choose to be not too interested in food. I.e.Don't want to chat about recipes, diets etc daily. Just want to eat right. Work out. (got a new bike today!) be healthy. Not fight myself! I'm not at a perfect weight, but am very healthy and happy That being said I am not quite at the sweet spot. Scar tissue prevents full fill, so it is mostly me. Which it is REALLY in any case. Right? -
Did You Keep Your Surgery A Secret?
Julie norton replied to KanesMom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No I did not share operating info with everyone. Didn't know the outcome yet. Did not want naysayers. Just wanted to try something besides the same thing after god knows how many diets ,programs, therapy etc❤ -
Help...i Am Gaining Weight! Need To Get Back On Track
Julie norton replied to citygirl4616's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Boy. This is a slippery slope isn't it? After the first few years things change. The sweet spot is hard to find and to get it right without regaining or regurgitating is very hard for me my dr. Is 3 hrs away so that makes it more of a journey Work and life and all Usually I do well but some days. Ok well I got a new bike today so I am very pleased. Kinda like a kid. A big cruiser bike tho 5 1/2 years and still I struggle. My dr says scar tissue prevents from full fill. Ok sigh. Hope to chat with a seasoned bander soon Julie❤ -
How To Start Breaking Free Of Overeating, Stress, And ?Too Much On Your Plate?
Julie norton replied to Melissa McCreery's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great article. It does seem like its all or nothing. A small step indeed. Got a new bike today. Fun -
Some days are just hard String cheese. Or a protein drink (from Costco) helps me often. I think one of the tricks is to reduce food exposure. For me. No cookbook. No Food channel. No Tv in large periods. Commercials are good at selling food! I like this site too. A walk is great but often not as easy for me to plan Working out is great I only go 2 x a week. But it helps a lot !!!

Thank you for your help. After 5+ years I could use a group support system. Sometimes it is difficult to continue on by myself. I like this site

Santa Cruz area. Anywhere close would be great

I live in Santa Cruz area and would like to have a group support meeting anywhere close. Any ideas?

It has been over 5 years and my personal thought is the band works if you don't fight it. The sweet spot is the hardest to find and keep. I am due for a fill. Too much or too little does NOT work well for me. Good luck
