Why would first BF contact me after so many years?
Julie norton replied to betrthnever's topic in The Gals' Room
Oops. Those days might seem to be the most fun in their life. I know I do not respond to inquiries from my first real boyfriend. But the memories are sweet and dear we are both married and I see no wonderful ending resulting from remeeting -

Should you recommend surgery to obese oeople struggling?
Julie norton posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't know the answer ! When I see aquaintances that are gaining large amounts continuously, I am torn whether to casually mention WLS as an option. I am not suggesting any put downs. Just an autobiographical. "This worked for me". Does this sound right to other seasoned bandsters? Sign me Unsure -
Confession: Need a reboot

Your life is gonna be what you make it. Do what kick starts you. Go to a dr. Pay for a series of exercise classes. Go a vegetarian cooking class. Whatever helps YOU. No one else can really make those decisions for you. Happy you have the band already. Recommit to it?? Best of luck Ps. Lots of us have veered off track Gotta get back on hopefully ! -
Good luck. Sounds good. Bread can be difficult for some bands. Soup works well for me a lot weather is changing????

I am wishing you good luck. It is a life long journey and sometimes we do better. Sometimes not. There is always time to begin again. This tool can work if we work it right. Let us know how you do

I'm sure I would. Ups and downs but happy with keeping weight off for 7 years. Didn't know it was possible before. Much happier!

Good luck! Don't get down on yourself. Just begin a new journey. You deserve better health. Keep trying

Worst part of the band so far
Julie norton replied to LapbandLo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find the hardest part is not eating much in the am a protein drink. 1/2a banana. Or maybe a protein bar. It is only after about 2-3 in the afternoon I am thinking about a dinner meal. Works well for me because I work out a couple days around 1-2 and can't work out full. But I am aware the consensus is eating well throughout the day is preferable Just can't eat early -
I try to drink a protein drink. (Costco ) to get 30 grams in by noon. Often a protein bar. I happen to go online and order so I can get a decent protein to calorie ratio. Then later on the day for me a tuna /chicken/ yogurt/string cheese Hope you find what works for you. It is trying to get in 70 grams of protein a day. But worth it!!

I too tried pineapple juice with no luck. Seems when my band gets irritated it just takes 24 hours or so to stop rejecting everything. Sometimes it seems random. After close to 7 years I am fairly disciplined about water, protein, exercise etc. just once in a while. 1/2 a banana. Or a protein bar starts a chain reaction Anyone else have random bouts of food rejection?

I agree you need to work with your band. And realize this is a life long commitment I appreciate the band was available and worked for me. Apparently this is not the same for lots of people. I did regain a small amount after the first year however I am so happy to have my weight be low for menopause. I choose not to do hormones and will blame the slight gain on it! Happy and healthy. That's what I like!!

So thrilled to be on this site. Don't usually add much. But knowing I could join seasoned bandsters made me try more. Thank you. Looking forward to more happy years

Weight Gain?
Julie norton replied to VegasMommaof1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am no friend of the scale. I will use one infrequently. But I know my clothing well and seem to always have great weekdays. Weekends are a little challenging. But all good -
Wow. Amazing you have changed your life so much. Happy to see positive answers to this question. Lots of negativity. Don't want that. Happy for us!

Congrats on trying to find the right fill for your body. What a joy to not be so hungry all the time. It is one of my favorite things about being banded. And the point that the weight stays off. I could lose before. But keeping weight loss off was very difficult. Keep going!
