ANYONE STILL AROUND FROM 2009 OR AROUND THERE?
Julie norton replied to 123crod's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Add me to the happy list. Since dec 2006. Could be antique by now but I'm keeping it! -
Funny story.... Truth be told I believe lots of us fight those night "should I eat or go to sleep". Demons. Mostly the angel wins.... Other times.....

You and jack I think are the veterans over 10 years. I am almost 8 and happy to feel "normal". Whatever that is to is all

Absolutely no regrets and would do it again! I was so thrilled to be on the other side that discomfort didn't seem so bad. Certainly had to change my life and I am grateful. I have the feeling my size would have crept UP instead of dropping down each month. Yikes

The freezing issue is much better recently on my iPhone. I find it enjoyable again to peruse and not be frustrated. Thanks -

Thanks whoever mentioned smooth move tea earlier. Now I see it again. This site is so nice for all kinds of suggestions. I like it also at night and seems to indeed get things moving -
Body Scanner at the airport....
Julie norton replied to intelirish's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have flown quite a lot in the past 7+ years (today even)and never had the band cause an issue. Thanks for the heads up in case it occurs though. I'll know why they are patting me down. It would help if they were young hunky guys oops -

Sara I am one of 2 banders in a large group. I know what you are saying unicorn... Funny analogy VSG is the most common WLS in our group 90%. Some bypass. Lots of good stories and nice group Happy to hear others have the same experience -

I have seen posts about starting over with 3 days of liquids. Seems to shrink pouch a bit. I don't personally know about that but please read others who discuss this. Glad you have a dr to work with -

Please read some forums and posts. Lots of people have had ups and downs .... There are also some "reset" ideas from some seasoned bandsters I think This is a great site to help with ideas, sorrows, laughs and inspiration. Please let us know how you are doing. Keep trying and reading and maybe set a dr appt? The most common ideas here are protein, water, exercise and awareness from what I see posted Best of luck -

Would you have WLS again? What kind?
Julie norton replied to Julie norton's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am thrilled to see such positive responses! Often people seem to use these forums to emphasize the complications and revisions, yet not one of us would trade our banded life today.. What a great endorsement for the weighty (ahem) issues we have all gone through!...Physical and mental metamorphosis. Many responses were from seasoned bandsters.... (All are so truly welcome... )But years down the road it is a different path than that excitable honeymoon phase ( we all seem to have that golden year or so) and I appreciate hearing your stories. It helps me daily. Please keep posting about life -
I really want to be me. Might sound silly or smug. Not intended to be I would have liked to changed habits at a younger age so one of my sons would not be dealing with being overweight That would be a perfect world

I am so happy to find a group of WLS (pre and post) who share great stories of the literal ups and downs of this journey! It Took some searching, but at least 40 people show up each month! It is inspirational to hear different paths we are all wandering down. Although there are not many lap banders (VSG seems to be in favor) we all share commonalities with weight issues. Just grateful .., just like with this site. It helps me, so thanks to all who contribute.

Jack's Big Road Trip and the Slime Dogs from Hell
Julie norton replied to Jack's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
So glad to see veterans post about the fickle band. One irritant can stop me for 24 hrs. Nexium... Hot tea... Any other ideas to calm a restless band? -
I would at least try some hot tea or hot broth to get fluid and perhaps help calm things I find this sometimes helps me. Good luck. Hope your dr has some answers too

Death and sadness.
Julie norton replied to LindafromFlorida's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Kyrickchick. You have been through so much! What a rough patch that life had you on. I so hope you can get what you want. And that includes your desire for WLS. I think it can change your life. And it sounds as if things have to get better Thanks for helping me with this new widowhood. I truly underestimated grief. I had lost my dear mom years ago. But never could understand this depth. Sending caring thoughts -
I am grateful to read others posts on this journey. It truly helps to see others discuss daily up and downs Glad to be here .. Especially on those rough days
-
Thank you I do feel a bit better. Some kind words helped. I will put one foot in front of the other. This site does help me and I am grateful

I too am striving to stay positive and engaged. Really hard. Widowed 4 months ago and I just want to hide and mourn privately. Not finding much joy anywhere. Just sad. Work ,work out and home. Not laughing a lot. The kids coming to visit helps. But it is not their job to heal me. Seeing a counselor. Still just really sad. Everyday. Lots of crying Thanks for listening On the bright side. Weight the same or a bit lower. 7+ years out. That is all I can think of that is good right now

Ps. Hot tip. Put them on from the bottom. Not over your head. Who knew? Thankfully my dear friend with me
