Banded living is so different. Not fair when removed or deflated. Sigh

Living with extreme band variations..... Advice?
Julie norton replied to Keona1323's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My experience is bands are fickle. They will tolerate something one day and not the next. Hot tea. Easy food. Cottage cheese. Yogurt. Helps a bit. But mostly time ... Which is HARD when you are hungry!????good luck. Let us know how it is going -
@go walking. You have a gift for writing. A budding journalist. Keep it up. It truly inspires us Even after all these years I need a good inspirational story!!

I am very curious to see how diverse us banders diet is. I will say that a protein drink and usually a protein bar figure into my day. Also I'm ok with some rice and vegetable. Tofu also works; usually in a soup or with something for flavor. Chicken thighs NOT breasts too. And a yogurt My caloric intake seems low... Tho I'm seeing that is fairly common in maintenance. Please tell us what your daily eating entails. Thanks

All our post surgery members... what has replaced eating?
Julie norton replied to Stacyann81's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I adore reading ... Crossword puzzles. Yes, working out. My house is much cleaner and I don't spend 1/4 of the time planning shopping prepping serving or Cleaning up Food. Much easier Good luck! -
The best thing about my band is_______
Julie norton replied to Julie norton's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Theses are such great responses. Thanks for reminding us bandsters why we changed our lives. I'm so thankful not to fight my hunger all day every day. No more battle with me. Peaceful calm mind (concerning food). Work.. Family.. Still some drama That is my life now and I am keeping it all the same and enjoying it. Never thought headed for 60 could feel so wonderful! -

Ps. I just really wanted to see some positive comments. -
What a great gift to have someone to talk to professionally. Hope your session goes well

So wish there was a better veterans forum. Some place that us "seasoned" bandsters (or any post WLS) could chat about years down the line. Maybe how things change in year after year of working with our post surgery body. It is a bit dismaying to have advice from others who haven't had surgery or read a book and are giving advice. We actually have lived it! Just a thought. Anyone else want to comment?

San Diego is easily doable for me. Might be harder on the right coasters tho
-
Is Branson in the middle of all of the group? Or a spa type place would be lovely. Not sure of costs for all tho. Anyone else proposing places??

I also had to change some of my prescribed meds. With no change in diet but new meds, my weight went up. After consulting my Dr, he changed 2 meds that clearly had weight gain as a side effect. It worked to substitute other meds... It is worth looking up as itwas frustrating til we figured it out. Good luck

Happy to be really alive

I think you are on to something end zone. There is some sort of mourning the loss of your coping Mechanism. we are going thru this because most of us couldn't self control (for years) and I think it feels like you are losing some control or power. Does that make sense? -
Ha. Good one lisacaron Sadly, I bet we would recognize our former selves at the buffets. You know... Getting our "value" by eating more than possibly reasonable
-
Vegas ( minus the buffets) is very reasonable and has decent entertainment. Like Beatles cirque de soleil ??? Or???
-
Would love to do our own meet and greet! I am in Santa Cruz ( by San Francisco) calif. Will we have to meet in the middle of the country???
-
Ps. Just a thank you to all of you! I check in almost everyday and it never fails that I laugh or learn something new. I must go finish a cake for my youngest (25) yikes! How did they get so old and we stay so young??? Yes he will take the remainder cake home!

I'm loving the sassy hair cuts and attitudes! Since a horrible pixie cut when I was 8 I have not cut my hair shorter than my shoulders. I may not have gotten long thin legs in life but thankfully got thick hair that will curl anyway I want. You gals are brave! I feel like it is so personal. Like exposing yourself with no long mane to fool around with ! Cute pics

Not my real name. Jewels is a take on my last name. I guess if I needed a pseudonym .... Just worked for me Gotta go. SF giants on

Good luck Sara Sorry for the reason. Health food stores. Gnc vitamin? Even grocery or longs, cvs have some options. I Bring protein bars when I travel. My band gets a little testy with flying but calms down...hoping you have fridge for yogurt or something that you can get there Keep us posted and blessings -
I, too, was surprised at gatherings that no one really focuses on others plate...too busy eating (ok too quickly I think.. Snarky I know) after almost 8 years a relative just said " you finished your fish" when we were out. So some do take note I guess... Golly.. It's just food. One meal out of thousands. I digress Most people care about their own meal. Not ours thankfully Keep it up!

Thank you Lisa It feels like a lonely journey sometimes. I appreciate your kind words.
