Why am I holding onto my fat?
Julie norton replied to JustWatchMe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Bandista What a great soul searching post. ???? I learn a lot here about each of our trials and tribulations. Life goes on. Yet we each keep going along working our newer ways of eating and living. I am happy at a size 10-12. I may never reach a drs ideal goal, but I really like life at this size.... 8 + years ago I was a size 22. I'll keep doing my best at Protein, Water and exercise, but I refuse to be unhappy at such a healthy size... I ADORE being "normal" ( to me) in this world. -

Welcome house calls, Hope you get a lot of information that you can use on this site. Everyone is different but Protein, Water and exercise seem to be a common theme after WLS . I have to remind myself about water all the time. Ask questions... We are hopeful for positive results and have lots of different people trying different ways to lose and maintain weight loss. -
JWM YOU ARE GETTING STRONGER! And your soon to be ex is doing down right immature and hurtful things. I'm sorry for your girls... It is not their issues. Now, you can be the mature one and rise above his pettiness. It is difficult, but you can do it. Just like the 5K... Hard but worth it. I'm hoping things get resolved.... At one point I had to bifurcate ( separate the divorce from assets). Just to keep moving along... Just a very distant memory. Like I hope yours becomes????

Seriously thinking of the lap band
Julie norton replied to buzzly36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many (most) of us are here because we could not successfully lose weight AND KEEP it off. It is a personal choice to change your eating habits with WLS but so many of us are thankful! I spent 50 years above my ideal weight. About 10 of those obese, before I knew I did not want to have the next chapter if my life involved with negative internal dialogue and failure on my weight control. Research all avenues and chat with those that have gone before you And best of luck... It is easier once you commit in my opinion. I don't know if I would have believed that 8 years ago... We do change! -
Dr. Notes: fit, well nourished 60 year old
Julie norton posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just picked up my records as my doc is retiring. Color me surprised.! Not overweight or obese description. Finally! Loved the well nourished part he titled my very last visit. Happy to accept that lovely description of my health. Feels wonderful???? -
Speaking just for me, my port is about 2" circumference. Yes I can see it a bit and feel it. It hurts if anything pressed it hard... Mostly I don't notice it much. Good luck and keep posting.

Plastics: Before & After (post your pics here!)
Julie norton replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My doc supplied the wrap around compression and recommended daily use for about 8 wks. Toward the end, I did use pull on compression for dressing for work... Then changed when I got home. Jamie. My favorite part also is my real flat stomach and the difference in posture. So worth a crummy week or so ! -
Walker Liz, This is the new you. ????Years out, people think you have been relatively the same size... They don't know, and I, for one, mostly don't enlighten them. Do any of you tell when someone assumes you've been in the "normal" size all along?? It might also be the amount if time you've enjoyed the same size? Do tell.

I like to try Smooth Move tea also. two bags in one hot cup the night before and it appears that is an apt name! Love the pineapple reference That shall be the go to name for the awful once a year issue!????????????

Am I really that vain?
Julie norton replied to Sylvia13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We are nice and friendly here! Just don't cross us with talk about food funerals and how quick can I loseX Pounds.... Nah. It seems we answer almost all questions respectfully ( well .. Lipstick girl gets testy ). Haha Seriously. I think we have peoples best interest in mind with their new Bodies!!! -
You are welcome.. I'm not much on crystal light type additions either. I do put a teabag in my water sometimes just to amuse myself. It's been a lot of years and water is still one of the things I have to remind myself to keep up on. I'm Good on protein and exercise.... Just the liquids. Protein shakes help, but only if I have had food first. Otherwise my body sends stomach acid to digest and upsets my stomach I'll just keep doing what works . That's why I had WLS ????

"I fit into it!" Clothing milestone!
Julie norton replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Glad you have happy times ahead and you will be a sharp dressed man! -
I believe some of us put a teabag in our water for flavor... So I would guess that lightly flavored tea, crystal light, flavor drops etc would count as some water... I try to do some plain water too.... sigh ...some days are better than others!

Boy. Shopping really is 1/2 the battle for me. I try to shop in the am if I can. I'm not so hungry... If I buy it and it is here, I will eat it. Even years out, everyday (like lisacaron said) is another chance to make good decisions. Some days are better, and I do think not having something in the house I will eat a lot of ( sweets for me) helps me get thru the day????

Glad to see you posting C G. I am sorry about your dog.. That hurts. Yet we open our hearts again... And it brings us joy. ????I am in between dogs and kinda liking the independence of having two sister cats so I can go away a night or two. Another Monday starts. Sigh -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Julie norton replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ok sorry got thru the repeats and am now enjoying the personal issues that drove us , in part, to having WLS . 24 years ago, a dr at the ER and emergency surgery center said " you are the fattest person I've operated on". I was probably 230 or so and I'm 5'7" So it a real stinger and poor bedside manner. Glad she was not my regular doc or I would have switched docs ASAP . It would be 15 years later I hady WLS and I'm fairly certain that won't happen again But OUCH.... People can be ignorant ....even educated ones???? -

Happy Father's Day to dads ! ???? Even if yours had to leave us, they are still in the Fiber of our being. I miss talking to dad, he has progressed in his dreadful disease to non-verbal, and bed bound for 5 years... Still warm and cozy at home. I shall go over and watch the ball game with him though and be happy he is here for another year. Hope the dads and grand dads have a wonderful time being honored⭐️ -

Julie norton replied to amber22's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Joe Congratulations on doing something to change your life. I often feel that navigating this life from a " normal" Size ( whatever that is to each of us) Is much better and easier than what I was before. It has been years with my band and I am thankful daily. And yes, sometimes she is a b@&ch and fussy, but life is very good. Good luck and keep posting! -

Butt hurts when sitting
Julie norton replied to jmabry's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I also find sitting for any length of time gets uncomfortable . Even hair appts w/ cut and color last too long. OUCH. Guess it is better than having all that stuffing there. -
Great giggles today. Thanks. I really liked and needed this today!!

A little over two years out and thrown right back into my fat days...
Julie norton replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
Even years out, I am at a loss when people I have not seen in 8 or more years us say "how much do you weigh? Or how many pounds have you lost?" I'm just not a number sharing person ... I look average sized and dress nice for work but I do NOT want to talk about a number on a scale... I was a slave to it for a decade and now feel very different. I will chat about workouts or other healthy topics.... Just not sharing such personal information with people I'm not CLOSE to. These forums are one of the safe places to talk about size! Thanks????
