I think with lots of planning it is possible. Tofu. Nuts. Cheese w/o rennet, quinoa, kale is surpringly high in protein, almond milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs... Google or others here can surely help. Good luck and let us know how you proceed.. You could help others⭐️

Struggling to quit smoking?
Julie norton replied to shancanssleevejourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to the cig quitters. How come no one talks about the benefit of no cig butts all over? I see them everywhere and they certainly go down the sewer drains( to the ocean here) Seems like no nicotine, no awful smell around and on you, and no butts=winning formula. I do know how addicting cigs are and I am in Favor of anything that helps! Do you suppose big tobacco companies are pushing the agenda on no vapes? Just wondering. -
Have you ever gotten tired of eating the same thing over and over again?
Julie norton replied to newstart38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well... Cottage cheese, jerky, tofu, hard boiled eggs, quinoa, protein bars, protein drinks... Those are my go- to foods with chicken thighs and salmon. Good luck! -

Have a fabulous time Liz ! It can be a bit daunting to plan and travel alone to a foreign country .... ✈️ I'm hoping you will feel accomplished and enjoy looking at such a different culture, w/ your sis. Just the signs, billboards, shops... All so fascinating. So proud of you changing your life and now expanding your horizons. Hope you are also as confident! You got this covered... You have shown us how strong you have become in many ways. Best of luck and Please post pics???? -
The dumbest diet you tried?
Julie norton replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I laugh reading these... But how sad we truly tried... White rice and banana diet. Nothing else... One bowl diet. If it fit in the small bowl 3x a day.... Of course I was just a teenager w/5-10 lbs to lose.... I thought... I actually am at that same weight at 60 and of course it is healthy and a good size... If I knew then what I know now, I guess I wouldn't be me???? Wish I hadn't thought I "wasn't good enough". I was. Sigh -
Diarrhea and being unable to drink the protein shakes
Julie norton replied to crussell's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My opinion is you might want to stop protein shakes for a test. Pedialyte mixed with lots of water helped me when I had an issue. My doc says protein tells your stomach to release acid to digest..., but if there is nothing there but liquid... No meat or any digestibles. It can go right through you. Good luck -

Who knew that now some of us put our clothes IN the dryer before wearing so they fit better? I would not have guessed that...lovely healthy life we a get a chance to have now ???? -
Right? I often wish I still had my dog as there are always scraps of something. I shop, cook and eat so much less... It is a relief . Not being driven by hunger and food are wonderful attributes of WLS ⭐️

Tummy Tuck Questions
Julie norton replied to mentalistfan's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I thought the first 10 days after my TT were difficult. I thank the person who invented the pain reliever!! I'm very pleased with the results though. Took me over 8 years post op to do it. Researched a lot, put money away.... Got a support team to help..Finally! Best wishes to those wishing to sculpt their body after WLS ???? -
How did you choose your doctor?
Julie norton replied to semausmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many bandsters chose the least invasive, out patient surgery for very good reasons. Sure, new flavors come along, but often, there is no reason to change what works well for us. I respect all opinions, but it seems unnecessary to go on band forums to express your personal dislike if the OP wasn't soliciting about a personal choice. I am SO happy to live a healthy life. Adore my doctor... Gotta go with what works... Personal decision and I wish for success w/ WLS... Thinking we all want that. -
I don't mean to sound gross but....
Julie norton replied to T.Whitaker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
someone on the boards stated she felt like she passed a pineapple..... I laughed and knew what she meant after that first bout w/ constipation. Smooth move tea or miralax was my go- to early onWishing you many flushes.???? -
Boy... Something about the 50's brings out a " I'm going to get this under control forever" attitude In a lot of posters. Me too! I had it with the ups and downs of weight programs. See- saws. It would appear most of us ahem- mature WLS gals are a bit more serious about total lifestyle changes IMHO. I'm working on 9 years this year and it isn't always smooth but it is forever! and I have the time and will to work on this.... The sixties look way healthier than my late forties and you can color me content!!!! Life is fun. Not a chore to slog through ... Attitude!!!!

Kick starting my metabolism
Julie norton replied to funky_monkey800's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am with you fellow bander... Nothing before noon... Dinner is enjoyable. Lunch is just something band friendly just to have something Maybe a different exercise / work out can kick start a loss? A different Zumba class or bike riding? After so many years, I also stay about the same weight Rarely do I eat differently or not work out. So I guess it's an elusive answer Let me know if something new comes on the board to change our status quo⭐️ Ps. I do increase my water a lot and this seems to help flush off salt weight???? -
Where and what do you have planned for the summer? Some have shared how extra planning helps on those times away from our regular routine. I plan on taking protein bars on my outing. And my refillable water bottle. I think airlines let you bring fruit also ( but not Hawaii) so I will attempt to plan ahead. Share your vacation ideas ????

Usually, I'm pretty even keeled, even on the Internet, but some questions...
Julie norton replied to no onions's topic in Rants & Raves
Great point VSG... Lots of us vets have to be patient when newbies ask about when nachos and pizza enter in... I am thankful I was older when I had WLS and accepted the change in lifestyle my new life would entail. And yes aren't we lucky to live in a place that let's everyone have vocal opinions about anything???????????????? Happy fourth⭐️ -
Food Network/Cooking Channel
Julie norton replied to muzical1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just for myself, I put away some habits after WLS.... Perusing cookbooks, watching food porn ( thanks djmohr) shopping often , cooking elaborate meals OFTEN! I just had to change up my personal habits to make my life different. At 60 years old i feel like my next and last chapter of my life has been wonderful and healthy. 8 1/2 years ago... I could NOT say that. Thanks lap band docs.⭐️ -
Perhaps some watered down herbal tea just to see how your body reacts? Your doc may have reasons, but non caffeinated may be his advice... Call and ask on Monday. His office is there for his patients to ask. I hope?? Good luck
