NSVs - the little things that make you sooooo happy!
Julie norton replied to Djmohr's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wow congrats! Size 12 is awesome... Smaller than the average American female which is size 14 I read -
Liz I'm joining the above opinions.. It is such a personal option. It all depends on how you feel in your own skin... Literally Personally, it took me over 8 years post op to have a TT .. The scars are fading since march, but still obvious. I'm glad I took the jump, but it took a lot of thinking.... And some pain Canceled the boob job that I was to do at the same time... Just like above. I'm 60. Probably not going for perky. Never say never tho....

Julie norton replied to tia92's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think we are a mostly friendly bunch with lots of ideas and opinions. I didn't note that you had a specific question or I would try to give my answer. Feel free to ask away.... I think you will get answers... Most of us like to chat about WLS ! -
Is / was your nutritionist all that helpful?
Julie norton replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Well. I feel like a lot of you had some good advisors. I had the wife of my surgeon for one hour with 2 other WLS patients. She talked about portion size...period. No grams of Protein, carbs, etc. I did have paperwork indicating the food that was a yes or no for the first 3 weeks. There was a list of protein sources.... A weak list... This was 2006 and I'm so thankful the process has changed for the better. I'm glad to hear more on these boards too. -
VIP's. Please post something about what is on your mind. Miss you????
Julie norton replied to Julie norton's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm posting due to another thread.... Having WLS later In life seems to me to have some advantages. I'm just not sure if my 20 year old head could take on a new, life long term commitment like my 51year old head did 8 years ago. I was not thinking of my whole life then... I also did not happen to be overweight iny 20's. That came with a not happy marriage and 2 kids in my 30's... I had over a decade of gaining- Losing-gaining cycle (that I did flirt with in my early teens)....that took me to 249 lbs. then I was serious....I'm just not clear that many 20 year olds can project a lifetime Wondering??? -
Why Getting Sleeved was the Biggest Mistake of My Life
Julie norton replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Loved this thread....really lit up the boards! Lots of good info, incorrect info, personal stories , some judgement..... Heartfelt admissions, newbies and veterans....something for everyone! Really interesting. It made me, for just a moment, retreat to a 20 something year old mind.... Frankly, I don't know if I truly had the wisdom, long-term thinking and tenacity my 51 year old body had when I had WLS . That is a TRULY interesting subject to me. Seems like some of us more , ahem ,mature people here have a much different perspective and success than a 20 something jumping in 2 weeks to surgery.. Not defending any point of view ... Just youthfulness has its innocence and naivitivity.... -
5 years + with lapband and happy
Julie norton posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Though I would throw this title out and see who is satisfied 5 years + post op. I'm unsure how many of us there are. Many sleever conversions, but looking for bandsters still keeping their band. Personally, I am 8+ years, and keeping the Fluid low has helped me to not reject the foods I like and depend on. Wondering how others are doing years out? Please post if you are in this group, no matter how it is currently going. Thanks. -

Julie norton replied to The Candidate's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congrats on being on the other side! Hope you never see the weight number you started at again! That is the beauty of WLS to me.... Losing and keeping weight off... For YEARS. What a fabulous life changer for most of us. Best of luck. Keep posting.... Before you know it, you will be a veteran ! -
Joining in with a long walk around San Francisco. Mission Delores and park. Ended by eating Brussels sprouts in a little cute place .... Where everyone was 30 years younger. What a place to people watch!

What happens when you don't exercise post surgery...
Julie norton replied to chunkyloverlovesyou's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can turn this around very fast. Just a new clothing item from Ross or thrift store, a quick hair dye job, and you will feel better I predict! Good enough to walk around the block I hope. Sometimes, the hardest person to please is yourself. Your thirties can be good!! -
I'm right with you bandista I need to put more pounds. Sigh. On my ticker The TT and flu had me my lowest since high school. Wonderful while it lasted.... Back to the set point I have been at for over 7 years. Being realistic , but still aiming for it again. Seems like normal life to me????

Tummy Tuck Questions
Julie norton replied to mentalistfan's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Great results! It is such a luxury and gift to be able to sculpt the body. Yours looks like you wanted I hope. A bit of pain.... But nice on the other side of surgery. -
I think that it is a real dilemma for many of us bandsters. Too tight and we lose pounds, but can cause some physical problems.... Too loose, and we struggle with food and satiety issues. It is a fine line to find the the right fill.... and a good mindset that seems to work the best. Even years out, I struggle with the thought of another fill???? Or keep trying my hardest to eat right . Then I have to factor in appt, distance, and $300 every try I want to change my fluid amount. Sigh No easy answer.... But I want to keep my band forever so I err on the side of caution... And keep it under inflated Best of luck. I hope you keep posting⭐️
