Kept my head straight
Julie norton replied to laguerr13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job. So inspiring! Life gets hard, but not as hard as tugging around 100 extra pounds???? -
Some others have mentioned melatonin. I like that option for those nights I cannot fall asleep ...a lot .

Face lift on 9/3/15! Last of my plastics
Julie norton replied to allielee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm really wanting to know about laser resurfacing on your face. Living at the beach all my life has left me with spots.... Of course haven't sunned in decades but still those reminders.... Cost? If you don't mind. Level of pain? Healing looks rather quick. Your neck looks fabulous!! Lucky younger you! -
Really hope you truly embrace a new opportunity to change your life. It is difficult to undo years of eating habits .... But I'm hoping most of us will really try! It is not easy.. Often difficult in social settings, but something has to change or surgery will not have the effect you were looking for. Some of us use nutritionists. Some go to head drs. Some use personal trainers ... Something new. Because the old way was obviously NOT Working (Just my 2 cents as someone years out ) Best of luck... Truly!

Fat People programs
Julie norton replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I watch Whitney also. Happy she can be so positive about her body and size. I so admire that ....as I could not be happy at that weight. I get a kick out of her mom... What a nice family.... I am also surprised no one has mentioned any kind of surgery as an option... Even in passing... Interested in seeing her take and reaction/ results from pre diabetes next. I do like that tv shows a happy woman in a very large size. Unusual for our stupid media. -
Personally, I would not wait a year. Hopefully, in a few months you will know what you can tolerate... And you can certainly ask for a small fill And repeat when you feel it is necessary. You can take some charge of your band and fills... The only veteran advice I will share is please be careful to not overfill your band... That seems to cause many issues on this board.... You can do this! Please keep us updated and best of luck⭐️

Great concept trinn Except real life goes on and on and occasionally, those who have had years of training under their belt (!) Can have a cocktail at a wedding or holiday. I have been conditioned, by my band, to eat a certain way. This has served many of us well. I hope you can reach the point of non interest in your downfall food... Whatever that may be. Life is for the living. Id like to believe we are living WELL. ⭐️and enjoying what we do and eat daily

Congrats. ⭐️ Those pounds are GONE. Not to return.. That is the huge difference to me personally... Never looked back Hope all goes the way you want it to!

Trust the process. You'll likely be home that afternoon.... I did not find it a difficult recovery and I got back my life ... Minus 90 pounds You can do this! You made this decision for a reason Most of us were a bit worried as the date got closer.... That seems normal to be a bit apprehensive ...But don't trade it for anything! You have a new life ahead if you follow some basic rules and follow drs orders and be COMPLIANT!! Best of luck!!⭐️

I HATE exercising! What Should I do?!
Julie norton replied to Sunshine3073's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I find that making an appt w/ someone I want to see and walking with them and catching up works lots of times. This Especially works well if we meet at the gym If it is at our houses in the afternoon.... Uh. ...sometimes it's just a cocktail and no walk???? -
Recommended level of carbs in the diet - research
Julie norton replied to RetroGirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was surprised bananas are so high In carbs. Sigh -
I adore and live by your phrase "without your health, you have nothing". Ask any very ill person, and they will say the same. My dearest friend of 43 years had a great life, wonderful husband and kids, possessed great beauty , lived in a lovely home... And in the end, none of it really mattered.... The illness won. I'm so lucky to regain health and have the opportunity to live a wonderful healthy life⭐️ Thank you lap band!

Why hello there, ONE-derland!
Julie norton replied to TheProfessor's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So happy for you! I hope you never see a 2 in front if your weight again . The band is an awesome tool... With our compliance. Congrats -
Curious subject I'm not sure a fixed object around a narrow tube can change too much.. I get the surrounding fat can diminish, but I'm not clear the band itself loosens. I am careful flying because pressure changes affect me for a few hours, .. Not clear that is the same issue. Would love to read more opinions⭐️

The Path Forward
Julie norton replied to notgonnabelikemymom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also care for my dementia affected dad. Thankfully. I have help. I second the notion of having something WRITTEN about what you want at your life's end. Please do not make your loved ones guess about DNR. Or where your final resting spot may be . It eases everyone's mind to do what you wanted????⭐️ -
There are many naysayers about the band, but also many of us who credit the band with changing our lives! Please trust the process and follow the protein. Water. And exercise as best as you can. You can reevaluate in a couple of months, but don't let the horror stories scare you . I, like many others, have had little to no problems with my band. For years. !!! I credit it with totally changing my life. And living for years without the burden of 90 extra lbs!!! Best of luck and please keep posting⭐️

I ate about 6 tortellinis this morning! I'm having RNY TOMORROW AT 2:00! Oh Lord, what do I do? Should I try to throw up?!?
Julie norton replied to sallymann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The real truth that pmanley was commenting on was this is a HUGE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE your life. Please dig deep and try to comply... Your body and your doc will thank you -
Traveling Home Post-Op
Julie norton replied to JellyBellyNoMore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take a break every hour and 1/2 or so to move just a bit if you can. It helps keep all systems moving if you can stroll just a short bit in a parking lot or somewhere convenient. And yes on the pillow. Good luck -
What a wonderful positive post! ????Thanks JWM. I can count on your posts being real.... and supportive of this different lifestyle we have chosen Even with the ups and downs of life. Although every day is not sunshine and lollipops... They are way better than carrying around that 90 extra pounds. Thanks lapband!

Banded, a learning process.
Julie norton replied to Elled2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on keeping your band. ????And keeping weight off. It is not easy. There are some long term banders around these sites. Many have gone on to revision . I am closing in on 9 years and hope to have many more. It is a challenge to have the right restriction... Mine can change over time with no additional fills. I try to keep my fills low. But fight the weight game Hope you are well. I am much older, but same issues I would guess. Let me know -

Julie norton replied to cslove's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm hoping you ladies get to share the secret that life gets better as you get older! Having just turned 60, my 50's with WLS were better (WLS at 51) than I even hoped.my 40's were a dark heavy time for me and now life is way different .....without the burden and head trip of 90+ extra lbs! Best of luck and keep posting⭐️ -
I am grateful for a truly healthy life that has gone on for years.???? I'm thankful for this board of fun cyber friends that seem to know what to say when life seems hard. I'm happy to be 60 with no weight issues( except between my ears) And feel settled into the next chapter of my life. (Learning to live alone after a long marriage and widowhood has its challenges) Onward I go. I'm looking forward to Hawaii soon. Dreamy place for me!

Plastic Surgery in Tijuana
Julie norton replied to WildGrits's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Today I picked up my galfriend at the airport... She had neck and eye work done in Tijuana , Mexico ! She looked fabulous... Minimal bruising. Little bit of swelling. I was leery, but this is her second trip to the wishing well and she got a lot of value for 3,000 bucks!!! They came to San Diego and picked her up and delivered her to a private residence . She returns in 9 days for a brief check up. I am kinda a USA surgery girl, but I am opening up to the value and quality care available in Mexico⭐️ -
All I want for Christmas is for my TT scar to look as good as yours! Realistically, I'm only 5+ months out. The silicone scar strips don't seem to be doing a noticeable job... The sides are fading but The center not as much You look great. Thanks for showing!
