Welcome and good wishes for a long life changing journey. Lots of nice people and handy info here. Just have faith and work the program and you will be rewarded ⭐️????

Well. I was thrilled when my TT dr informed me they also lipo the mons area as well as the back of the hips for a smoother look. Last march it was all completed . Previously, I was a bit self conscious in my work out clothes....Now I see a flat area instead of a " hump" in my lady area... Just an added perk I did not know about. But very thankful for!

And it takes longer than you may have thought...and costs $$... They are alike

Julie norton replied to bacon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nice to see you posting again Cheryl We are all at our own levels with this band trip. I go for a fill in about 3 weeks and know I'm up a bit.... But I will resume banded life....and lifestyle Flying home tomorrow ✈️ This is the The best week I've had since being widowed last year.... Haven't cried in many days????There is life out there ! I have faith by Christmas things will be right where they need to be ⭐️ -
Recommended level of carbs in the diet - research
Julie norton replied to RetroGirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Trader joes has frozen steel oats and quinoa. Separate and mixed. Easier for quicker meals. But I don't mind stirring the pot for ten minutes. Some of the only cooling i do ...except bake chicken and make a vege dish! -
Babbs Thanks for those words... There are awful afflictions... My family has a member with mental issues who will never be right. Probably never live on her own.. Doesn't fit in in a group setting. Had thousands upon thousands spent in treatment... To no avail. Don't get me started about meth and other drugs that remove people from being productive members of our society. So an adult child who weighs more than what is healthy seems to pale in comparison.... A job, a partner, a decent home and a genuine nice person. All I need to feel like they are successful.????thanks

You got room for another 'round here ?
Julie norton replied to Dub's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sound so ready to change your life! I adore hearing from those that take surgery very seriously .... And the path that is ahead. Your head sounds ready to have a smaller body to move around! I predict a great outcome ....magic 8 ball....(for older people to get) PLease keep us updated... Some of us veterans live vicariously through the new post ops energy. I do not believe you will be posting about when you can eat pizza! ( one of the warning signs , to me, of a rough time ahead!!????) Best of luck as your time to change the rest of your life draws near???? -
I'm saying you are so much better without him being an anchor... Still he had the power to frustrate you... I'm hoping as your pending divorce goes forward, he will lose his ability to control how you react to him. Most controllers ...in my humble opinion ...Want the control and get very angry and or hurtful at not being to MAKE you do as he wants. Ha!! Not any more... House will get settled I'm sure. At some later point Your bariatric life will continue because you do the work.. Ok. At times (I) we slip, as the years go on, but then it focuses back and another few months go by without hard challenges.... Sending you strength ... ????

Happy you made an appt. I think that is the first step for restarting. Hold your head high and begin with basics .... You can do this! Use your tool to help you get the control you want.... Not throwing up. But satisfied with lots less. Drinking your water helps .. I know I have to try hard everyday on that one Best of luck and please keep posting⭐️????

I am in agreement from my personal experience. Breakfast is not enjoyable or even wanted. A simple bar or protein drink around 11-12 works well for the am After my work day I either work out or finish errands and I get hungry around 4. Time to get some good protein and fiber. Water is still a work in progress for me. But I try daily I guess that says a bit. I TRY DAILY

Interesting, what people notice.

Hope you feel ok and please give us banders the inside scoop on port revision⭐️.....and placement area I gather each doc puts them in different places???? -
Thanks again for the condolences The further I get from surgery ... The more weddings, funerals, parties, vacations. Etc I realize we all have to go thru... Without our long time coping mechanism of overeating ... Mostly I do well. I credit years of band training But occasionally ( with my band almost empty). I realize the food monster is still somewhere deep and can come visit. Looking forward to a fill in three weeks. But having fun on the beach drinking and a bit indulgent on food is a carefree time. I KNOW this too will pass and in a month or two all will remain the status quo. That is the difference in long term life changing habits. So happy to know that deep inside????????

Recent fill def made a difference but..
Julie norton replied to 2babutterfly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is hard with a deflated band. I have 3 more weeks til a fill. And I'm sure I'll hVe to take off a bit more since I am on vacation and the piña colada is hitting the spot!ps lisa told me it is pineapple and cocoanut So it is like a fruit???? -
I see your point. I have 3 shelves of atomizers. But the bigger issue is I DO have too much stuff.. I'm guessing lots of us do. And I need to continue to purge extra stuff. I haven't moved in 32 years. And I will in the next year... So thanks for the reminder... We don't need so much "stuff" ( also. kids can get their art projects etc. Or move them on !)

Thank you for the nice sentiments about Dad... I realize I mourn the strong able-bodied healthy man he was. ... Before he was robbed bit by bit of every use of his body. Walking. Toileting. Moving his feet ... Then no use of hands...Then voice. The ravaged body that was left was not what I think of.... I'm coming to grips that he was so tired and needed to rest????❤️????????????

HAD TO SHARE! protein milkshake is the best for those who just can't on the shakes
Julie norton replied to readyforthislifechange's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Love my protein shakes... With 1/2 frozen banana and a bit of ice, fair life milk, yogurt and protein powder Yum. We ALL have our ways... I've cream does not seem to fit in any equation IMHO -
Cold since surgery - is this normal?
Julie norton replied to Dream4tc's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have seen this issue brought up here. Seems many of us are colder at a lower calorie intake and or lower weight. Enjoy summer! Fall is approaching, and I have heating pads in several spots at my house and an electric blanket just for the foot of my bed!! (My feet seem to be the coldest part of me.... )I have resorted to running a hair dryer into my boots to heat things up! Best of luck! Sad to say that even a small weight gain made me warmer Sigh -
Seems to me that only a select few are mean and spiteful.. The rest of us just read( or choose not to) and laugh... I hope. Or see ourselves. And learn! Or , like Babbs wonder at seeing posters asking about pizza on post op day 10 Always something.... It amuses me⭐️

Yep Hate when that happens
-
I hope we are all here for the long run ... Good and bad... Highs and lows. Literally. Thanks for the insight Liz . 3 weeks til my fill and I'm beginning to struggle. Yikes. Just when I got complacent after 8 years and thought I had it covered! Not so true.

Recent fill def made a difference but..
Julie norton replied to 2babutterfly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm also waiting on a fill. And yes the hunger eventually returns. Need to get back to my routine of small hunger and small meals. 3 more weeks... Want to do well til then... Seems to be getting a bit more difficult. Even after 8 years. I'm starting to feel a struggle. Yikes -

Since this is the header of the topic, I am officially, whole heartedly supporting those who choose to live life with a lapband! I hope some of the other band veterans will choose to help answer questions about a healthy life with our bands. It can be a life changer! For many years! For this one category, can I ask respectfully for no band bashing, stomach perforation, port flipping horror stories? I am very pleased with my years of healthy living with my band .. May it always be so for others too⭐️ I DO SUPPORT any type of WLS for the record. This is just one all place to celebrate banded life. Thanks for listening
