Julie norton replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today's peeve shall be the newbies who want to know when they can have pizza and or a cocktail Ya just gotta change your mindset And wait several months before you can question anything This is not an off and on program as far as I can tell.... Surgery is there to afford you the wonderful opportunity to change your life???? -
Heartbroken... feels like my progress is being erased.
Julie norton replied to NYC1992's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Odd. This is general lap band SUPPORT.... And yet nay Sayers come here to post about "dumping the band" I'm here 9 years post op saying work with the band as long as you can... And I get it doesn't work for some. But can't us banders have one spot to support each other... I'll go to banders #7 and see if the love is there ???? -
Can't stop "cheating"
Julie norton replied to thinatheart13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i do suspect night eating is a hard issue for many, as it is with me.Even years out, that is my hardest time. I suspect part of it is meds, and part is I'm tired and prone to eating something when I'm fatigued. I fight it regularly and I mostly win, but there are nights after which I wake up and begin again... Even more determined to even out my eating.... And string together days and weeks of clean eating. Life is a challenge, but much easier from a "normal"size ( as always, whatever that means to you and your body) Ps. Happy Valentine's Day to all❤️ -

D-I-S-R-E-S-P-E-C-T Find out what it means to me
Julie norton replied to 4MRB4PHOTO's topic in Rants & Raves
"Let's have another party". Like the sound of it , but don't know the tune. Fun thread.... Except the ranting parts which we are all entitled to and which I tend to scroll through if they are not concise and specific. -

I have a complete aversion to exercise--rant
Julie norton replied to LEILE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can only make myself go if I am meeting a friend. We enjoy signing up for personal classes too. Cheaper for both of us ... Shouldn't be ... But paying in advance makes me go....I do more when someone is instructing me at a fast pace. Otherwise, I can meet a friend for a walk, but often those are more chat while we stroll affairs. Find something that makes you not hate it and schedule time each week.... That is my take on getting consistent exercise... Keep trying!! -
addiction to carbs/need advice
Julie norton replied to sbg224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, a lot of the battle takes place at the grocery store. I do try to shop when I'm not hungry.... And mostly do the perimeter....mostly in the morning if I have time. (I know) I just can't say no to certain foods as the day wears on... The tired me sometimes wins if I stock up on certain trigger foods. Then I'm sad the next day and try again. It is a different mindset.... -
Thank you and I am blushing. Oh. Could be the cocktail and sun????????

Ok. Not too many pics of me except before and after. Here goes a Hawaiian photo Aloha and fun!!

Has anyone lost 100+ pounds?
Julie norton replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Losing a large amount of your body weight is totally do-able.... The most FANTASTIC part to me is keeping the weight off!!! Never has it been so relaxed. Many of you know I was banded in 2006, and this year is my 10 year anniversary!!! Would not change a thing about my weight loss post life. (Obviously, losing my wonderful husband suddenly in 2014 was the most painful) But food was NOT the answer.... To any of my problems.... So blessed to be here... -
Glad to hear good news! Things are going well on my Hawaiian vacation. I know... Piña colada has coconut and pineapple... So it's a fruit. Right? Lots of protein bars and ready to go protein drinks... Cannot get them to blend well as hard as I try!!! I'll just enjoy my slice of paradise for a few more days before the real world comes back.... Eating well 90% of the time. That is Good enough for today! Aloha!!????????

These posters have such great advice! Sounds like you are being successful, but I hear some of us veterans issuing a warning about long term eating plans . Many of us eat protein rich food religiously and find a sort of rhythm in keeping our weight and meals in check. I think the last meals had lousy choices and you coped ..... But down the road .... Be aware that it is more difficult to continue great choices unless you have a different mindset.... For me anyway.... Everyone is different in finding their way.... You have done so well!!! Best wishes on continued success????

Anyone having surgery Feb. 15th?
Julie norton replied to songsmith's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's true! Dogs have "frito" feet. I have done work in animal rescue before and breed recovery. Everyone talks about it on the doggie forums. I challenge anyone to smell their dog's feet. I'm not lying! Well, um, make sure they haven't stepped in anything gross before you do. my dogs had Frito feet too and I adored them!Did not know it was discussed on forums.... Funny???? -
Veteran Sleevers please chime in.
Julie norton replied to Biloxigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One formula for protein intake has a gram of protein needed for every inch of height. ie. I am 5'7" ... That would equal 67 grams of protein daily. I do try for more, but that is my low goal... It is the water intake that vexes me! -
Fat Acceptance Movement - how do you feel?
Julie norton replied to needtorecover's topic in Rants & Raves
Well... My two cents is the paradigm is shifting on just gawking and laughing merely due to Someone's size. The other day someone posted a very large man at Starbucks. With ill fitting clothes... On his computer .. I realized there was nothing funny about him typing. My small shift in my head was typing " no fat shaming" and going on to the next email. Hope this catches on in its own way???? -

Fat Acceptance Movement - how do you feel?
Julie norton replied to needtorecover's topic in Rants & Raves
It has surely opened my eyes to pictures that were posted elsewhere with no other redeeming value, except to show someone's huge girth over their pants... That is plain fat shaming, and I won't comment or pass it along! Slowly, some attitudes are changing???? -
new Protein option Like these pouches for traveling. They are approved for airline flights Just shake very well. And use cold liquid. Not a bad option???? Purchased at target in a dry container... FYI. Mix very well!!! Edited to say the powder/ chalky mix never fully turned to liquid... Little rough with the chunks of powder... But thankful to be using them on vacation ????????????

How Long Have You Maintained Your New Weight?
Julie norton replied to careya123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm happy and healthy at the same weight over 8 years now. The bmi charts would have me lower, but I am perfectly happy in a size 12... Sometimes a 10 if it has been a good month. I'm very compliant with my band... Protein... Exercise... Water, my hardest practice... So thankful to have a very " normal " life -
