ENDOSCOPIC GASTRIC SLEEVE.
Julie norton replied to 2Anne's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This looks very promising as another WLS- type option. It appears it is for low bmi. I'm wondering more about this if I ever have to revise from my band. It is nice to think there may be less invasive and cheaper options! I will keep investigating. -

Family functions post op
Julie norton replied to taramarie523's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well this California Italian girl tries to get soup or meatballs. And fools with her food... And no one seems to notice if i don't make a big deal of special food. Sorry to mention that eating is not half the fun, exciting, entertaining, hours of eating and drinking it previously was. Yet my body thanks me daily for being healthy. Sigh ... I guess I just can't have it all..... Literally! -
Bummed Out After Watching "My 600 Lb Life: Where Are They Now?"
Julie norton replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I watched the episode also. What I did like was the group meeting as they had many previously featured people there. Joe, zsalyn, (I forget the wheelchair gal with her son who was fetching fast food a lot) it was nice to see them talking about their weight loss years after. Many gained, but still had kept off hundreds of pounds which is remarkable... Some may not have lived this long without Dr Now. -
My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin after the sudden death of my husband. It has been ok.... I did not notice many side effects... Bummer I did not lose weight... I'm just trying to get through day by day.... And I'm compliant with my mental health professional. I'm just sad many days.... My entire life is not at all what I planned or imagined. Glad my adult kids are close and come by a lot.[emoji171] Best of luck to you and getting your emotions where you can handle them. Especially on the anniversary or ither difficult days. Pharmaceuticals do have a place to help many people, just not all.

You look younger, happier and much healthier ! Can't ask for more than that from a piece of silicone !!

I get the same issue as all the above. Liquids only for breakfast. Then chicken salad or yogurt type food for lunch. For dinner I'm ok to have a bit of meat, vege and maybe a little rice or sweet potato. Definitely changes from am to pm. Sometimes I have breakfast food for dinner because I miss having a nice breakfast. Glad I'm not the only one! I get the same issue as all the above. Liquids only for breakfast. 1 week post OP, considering smoking Marijuana to ease pain and sleep.
Julie norton replied to fattytohottie2016's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am reading more and more about cbd 's. Which are tinctures made with out the thc from marijuana. These are some of the newer oils made and seem to work well for those with epilepsy ... These are the ones I have read about for use even on children that are having 20+seizures in short time frames and cannot live any sort of normal life. They do not give a negligible high. Research is the key that is often overlooked due to the stigma of regular Marijuana. IMHO I wonder if anyone will post about tincture use and sleep . I would be very interested since sleep eludes me often. -
Crazy how WLS works. I never believed I could be satisfied for years on the amount of food I eat daily I'm telling my kitties to move over.

RNY in T-12 hours. Whaaaa?
Julie norton replied to sassyfrass23's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yaah! We are here to read how it goes. Sometimes waiting is harder than being done with the surgery.... Best of luck and keep posting! You are on the good side now and wonderful things are about to happen to your life! Unlike the alternative, which was a disaster it appears from your dr. -
Osborn I think it is not unusual to have a gain when emptied. You have your tool to help you still tho. Many people go away from the boards when they gain. Stay and keep posting. Please. We are behind you . You had an excellent loss and I bet you felt better. 50 lbs is not as hard as 100+ And I wish you strength for your next phase. Just keep going with the water and protein. You can do this again and get where you feel healthy. Doesn't matter where... Just so you like yourself there![emoji171]
-
Maybe more protein in the afternoon? Lots of water and tea and not looking at tv commercials helps me. I also keep one good yogurt or low cal single ice cream as a treat for the end of my day. Good luck and post how you are doing! We care! And yes. I still fight the demons at night. After 9 years. Sometimes I have to go to bed and give up on the day. Sometimes. Snacking wins. Just not as often!

After all these years, I thought I knew how to do better than I did. I gained 7 lbs in 11 days. Yikes! I was not stuffing myself. I ate lots of big salads I had missed. A few desserts, certainly not 3000 extra calories on 7 days! I just don't feel I get a fair deal on calories in / lbs on dept. I've since had a fill and am back to around 1000 calories a day and have dropped the excess, but it made me really think about the future if my band doesn't work. It scares me after 9 years!!! Still!!!
-
I do let everything rest for a day or two. For me, if liquids are difficult and I haven't had solids beforehand ... I am considering a small unfill. Once my band is irritated, nothing works but protein drinks or bars for a day or so. Then I ease into food Let us know. And best of luck... Ps where are you located w/ 3 Drs doing fills??

Decisions to make
Julie norton replied to Snowbutterfly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Such a personal decision. I'm wondering what has been driving you for 3 years? If it is surgery, consider not going to the back of the line .... If you are like many of us, we could get weight off ... Just couldn't keep it off for years. I don't want to see you have regrets in 2-3-4 years if the weight returns. ( about 95% of dieters do) I encourage you to think about what you want in life. If you are wanting a more permanent solution, consider WLS . Only you can decide and I wish you luck. Many posters here do say they wish they had WLS years before.... Just consider the personal pros and cons! -
You just can't beat the weather in Hawaii. Even with a little rain, it is warm. Special getaway place[emoji267]

Maybe nuts, hummus, edamame beans and edamame pasta, nut butters , "Better than beef" is a fairly decent substitute for ground meat recipes. (Got it at target) Yogurt, eggs, extra protein milk, protein bars....lots of tofu. Baked, breaded, soy sauce flavored.. Just a few suggestions to get ya going Good luck!

I get the rash like bumps on my feet while vacationing in warm places. Maybe I don't sunscreen them? I (do wear flip flops)Never happened when I was young! Yes they itch and I bring spray benedryl with me or it begins to look and feel like poison oak. Always goes away when I'm not in tropical places. Didn't start til my late 40's No rhyme or reason
-
Yeah. Well should and reality don't always go hand in hand. Had a very quick regain after an unfill and have been on the bandwagon since. So long to take off and so quick to return..... Sigh It is doing its job... I think I wasn't . Back to banded life and a refill and it it fits like an old shoe. Regular and everyday worthy. Working hard and feeling healthier daily ![emoji171]

Trying to find the courage to start over.
Julie norton replied to missistark's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm very sorry for your sorrow. I do not know how you go on... And yet life does... Glad to see you here . I hope the posters here can help. And call your Dr. They see it all, so please go see yours if you think it will help. Also I feel the same about the fact that others don't understand what us bandsters go thru. That is what I adore on these boards . Lots of support no matter what stage you are in. Hope you get some care and comfort here and at home... You have a lot to deal with. Sometimes it feels like life can be not so kind. People here can be so helpful. Please know that many of us feel like we reset our eating a few times over the years. Sigh. Good months and not so good months... And another year goes by. Good luck -
9 years post-op and my scale still freaks me out at times
Julie norton replied to Jean McMillan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
And the years keep going by.... Isn't it all so relative? I'm thrilled when my size 10's get loose. Not so thrilled when my 12's feel snug. And again. Another fill or another unfill of a tiny bit.... And another year goes by and still I'm so thankful to be on this side of " normal sized"..... Whatever that means to each of us. And I'm so happy to read other veterans posts because it gives me much hope that my 2006 lapband is staying and doing it's job. I think my ( retiring) doctor said it best I'm my medical records ..... FIT AND WELL NOURISHED. I might want a bumper sticker or tattoo .... It made me feel wonderful !!! -
Anyone gone through menopause AFTER the surgery?
Julie norton replied to Strangefruit's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Menopause is not kind to us in many ways. I had shortness of patience... And slow weight loss.... However always quick weight gain Simply. NOT fair !!! No option for me as hormones will not be ok for my body. Sigh. Mid life! -
Veterans....#1 thing you miss / don't miss
Julie norton replied to Kindle's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum

Veterans....#1 thing you miss / don't miss
Julie norton replied to Kindle's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
@"oregondaisy" If you don't mind, what changed the band to sleeve? I'm asking because I was banded in 06 also and I am scared of having problems with my band. None now, but we seem to be fewer each year. I also rarely think about habits from 9 years ago I know I was unhappy and unhealthy. I'm very healthy, and mostly happy... Except widowhood.... Not expected and threw me for a loop -
We are always here to listen... sometimes life is so frustrating!!!! Many of us , myself included, know the struggle of that dreaded 10 lb coming and going... In fact, when I look at older boards, many posters and banders are not around anymore. I like it when I still see familiar faces... (Smaller ones...deb3!). Makes me feel like my own support system knows how good, yet hard , WLS can be. Some days and weeks seem easy.... Some are damn hard! Glad two of our group are lucky enough to go on vacations!![emoji322]
