Sleeve Regretters
Julie norton replied to mollydeez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lots of agreement here that WLS is intended to work with you and all the CHANGES you make to your life. Attitude, commitment , water, protein, exercise, all play parts in revamping a life that didn't work because we were too big . It's for life is all I can say... Fight it and lose or cooperate and most likely live a healthier life( nothing is perfect) Sorry. I am banded and posted in sleeve. But I think my thoughts are relevant . I do understand that WLS just does not work for some. I truly feel for those that have tried hard, but couldn't get results ... For many reasons not in their control. It is not one size / type/ fits all! -
Sounds convenient .... I don't know of anything that dense w/ protein.... Except protein bars. (Not clear on the concept of one quick bite instead of enjoying and savoring something you like tho) I have seen "mug cake" recipes on here. But they use a coffee cup. And protein powder. They are thick. They are in the recipe section. You might have some better ideas from others in that area. Good luck.

I feel we all have to compromise somewhat for the gift we have been given ( and worked hard for ) of a healthier life. Some here want hair, some want pizza, some want alcohol. I guess we must be willing to take what is handed to us and deal with it the best we can. In my heart, WLS is worth a lot of compromise.... (Considering what obesity can do to many as we age)

Weight Loss After 1 Year ?
Julie norton replied to BigHarleyGuy1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations on losing 100 pounds! That is a huge achievement and makes your body a whole lot healthier I'm guessing. 20 lbs may seem real important this moment, but others mentioned here that In the long run , KEEPING your weight off is of utmost importance. We seem to all make our destinies in different ways here ... Good luck on your new chapter of life at a lower weight! -

I hate shopping...wait, what?
Julie norton replied to cindyw41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sail away. I also adore inc clothes. Macy's carries them here and I find I like their sizing and cut. They cost a bit but I usually have a Macy's coupon or promotion so it takes some of the sting out of shopping there. I find that brands quality is very good . -
Great job by your surgeon... Those scars will fade in no time. I still have one section in the middle of my stomach from my tuck over a year ago that is red... But fading slowly. The sides are fine and blend in. Yours look great for how fresh your operation was!

MAKING THE SCALE BUDGE DOWNWARD, WHY AM I NOT LOSING THE WEIGHT MORE
Julie norton replied to eatlightjudy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Judy My opinion is size 12 is lovely. It is smaller than the average American woman and I think it is easy to find clothes, fit places, and generally navigate this world at that size! I'm in California; banded 9 1/2 years and would be happy to exchange words. Jules -
Weight loss and then stall after one week?
Julie norton replied to Zenlife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree it can be frustrating.... But look at the long picture... You are doing everything right and you need to have faith. For the long run. Your loss will most likely be not linear, but WLS really does work for most in the long run!!! (For some. It is a short run) I never would have believed it if I hadn't lived it for 9 years... All those failed attempts jaded me towards diets. This is a new time to shine!! Keep on doing your dr instructions and have faith... Ignore the scale ... As hard as that is... Just believe this time it is DIFFERENT!!! Keep posting[emoji171] -
I am fighting the gain train also. Need to lose 7 lbs to be where I like my body more and feel healthiest. Apple season here. The apple crisp was deadly. No more! I'll make something I don't care for.... Lemon something!!

Nice car.... And you look so healthy.... Get in and drive!!

What a nice post. You are a great mentor to many on this site. I think 209 is workable in a normal way of life...I'm guessing 450 really did not work ... Which is why you put all the effort into losing 240+ pounds. !! Congratulate yourself... Many people cannot do what you have done. You have such a better healthier life to live now. I'm glad you are helping others[emoji122]

I do recognize the tip that these are easier to put on from the bottom up...Difficult to do from top down

Wearing a corset, friend or foe?
Julie norton replied to BL.banded.3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It might depend where your port is. Pressure isn't helpful to mine and makes me sore. Shape wear is another option to explore. It may be gentler for you. Please let us know how or if corsets work for you. -
Not so fast.....

How long will my lap band last?
Julie norton replied to JuicyDew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also a long term bander. We are around. I think you don't hear too much from folks when life just goes along well. Following bander rules and keeping the band a bit under inflated may help for long term . I thrilled to be headed for 20 years in December!! Doc says my band seems fine for life. Yahoo!! -
Things that I'll be taking to hospital

Very different NSV!
Julie norton replied to rydersmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think it is fabulous to not feel self conscious about standing up in a group. Or getting in and out of seats for baseball and movies etc and getting by people. I never liked that before. Now, I just don't take up much space and I simply don't care!!! Much better feeling. Thank you WLS -
Thanks for the laugh. I needed it!

The struggle is real and why I'm going through with it.
Julie norton replied to walkermy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WLS works! For the long term for many. Much better chance at succeeding at living at a lower weight than ANY other option. So thankful it allowed me to get off the weight roller coaster and live! For years and years. I could not do that before I got my band . Best of luck to all that want to stop feeling like they failed at losing weight. -
Keto stick test - do we remain in ketosis post op?
Julie norton replied to trekker954's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My brain also did better than the "fog" that descended when I was ultra low carb. We all try to find what works to keep our bodies in losing or maintenance mode. I'm still liking protein shakes... Even after years. They seem to help me not require more food daily than I should have to stay where I like on the scale. -
Missed our resident dancer posting her outdoor concert pictures. Glad all is ok Deb3

Swell Hell and HUNGRY
Julie norton replied to Indieflickers's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Echoing above remarks. Speaking about TT and Lipo only. Yes it took way longer for swelling and results..... To my surprise, about 9 months later all had settled and the loss and smaller size were here to stay. Thought it would be a lot sooner.... Also thought the first week would be easier. Not true for me Best of luck. We are all different I see by our postings. Age and skin type and health may have much to do with this ?
