NSV: Massage
Julie norton replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks for bringing up the topic. It is a treat and I should try to be kind to myself more than I am. That is a good reward![emoji93] -
Uh....i think it might be called spanx.

Weight comes off then stops
Julie norton replied to michelledking's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats Ginny I think everyone has to find their way band wise. It is very personal how each fill and hunger work. Something about working out also helps... I don't think it is totally the calories you burn....I think it is body/ mind connection..... Protein water and working out has been a good friend for me and my band since 2006. I'm of the mindset of leaving the fill level a little low.... I truly want to keep my band and the almost 100 lb loss forever!! -
What Is Your Biggest Guilty Pleasure? (Food or Not)
Julie norton replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
Relaxing with the morning paper and a big cup of coffee....ok maybe my other would be nooze yogurt. -
That is great furmama. It is a wonderful feeling to have WLS and feel successful... Many of us spent too many years trying everything else before getting to here . May you enjoy your new life and most of all health!!

The 10 Commandments of the LapBand.... a revisit
Julie norton replied to BayougirlMrsS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like it! And I also miss Lapband talk from years ago. Many of us are not seeing the same people. -
All happening so quickly!
Julie norton replied to futureskinnybtch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations.... Hope you love your-band as much as I adore mine. It is over 9 years post op and my life is wonderful weight wise.... FYI There are some who are not in favor of being banded. You will probably hear from them and others who had problems. -
Bananas are NOT a low carb food
Julie norton replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Food and Nutrition
I just cannot believe this forum has a huge discussion on the value of a piece of fruit.. I do understand carbs.... Many of us keep them low ... However ... This is long winded on fruit vs Oreos for my two cents. And invariably some people get bashed. Sigh. I thought we were trying to discuss living life with a new outlook and determination to change old habits. Doubtful many of us got here from too many bananas... And ps. We certainly have many super- informed people who haven't had surgery yet.[emoji529][emoji529][emoji529] -
A Tale of Two Grandmas

What a better life WLS gave to us ( and we earned it , no doubt) the outcome is a better ride through this life !! -
NSV: Going to the Doctor
Julie norton replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What a change. Congrats surfer girl! I also would choose "not to weigh" at the Drs . Now, I'm curious what the official scale says. It does not have the power to ruin my day and I really appreciate that change. -
Happy to see some cyber friends posting. Feels like fall is coming in the mornings, although occasionally smoke from the Big Sur fire drifts in with the fog. Lately my eating has been fairly non challenging .... Thankfully. Tourists are gone and us locals love it.[emoji93] All is well today.

I have tried the support group here three different times. While there was info to be gleaned, the moderator failed to move the group along. We spent 90 minutes at one and could not get past intros ... There was talk of breaking into pre and post op.... Never happened in the 3 times I tried. My impression was it was a conduit for WLS sponsored by Kaiser This site offers much more in my humble opinion.

Today I am officially not "plus sized" what a colossal NSV for me!
Julie norton replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Welcome to the world of regular people of normal size....(FYI we are ALL normal, but you know what I mean about societal norms) it is a shock for some of us to look at an item of clothing and say. "no way this will fit". The amazement when it does is priceless... Makes up for lots of discomfort many of us had along the way. Congratulations.... You are shrinking monthly!! Enjoy your time ... Wherever you end up is where you need to be for a while.... Keep posting. I enjoy watching others move along this road!! -
6 year.... Bandaversery.... and still going strong
Julie norton replied to BayougirlMrsS's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Glad to see some of us old banders are still around....still working the lifestyle ... 9 1/2 years here and continuing ... Still staying under inflated a bit....same size for years. Hurrah. Happy to be a size 10 mostly. 12 if cut smaller Continuing working out faithfully 2x a week. (HARD WORKOUTS! It works better if I have a trainer pushing me. I'm too easy on myself) Hope some others surface here and give us an update. Good and bad. There is always hope! I miss the lap bander community input. This has not been a linear journey... Some ups. Some downs. But I refuse to go back. My appetite comes back if I don't use a shake or protein bar to minimize input... Always a balancing act... -

Wow. With the exit of so many vets...
Julie norton replied to LipstickLady's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I think so too. Summer can be busy... But it would be great to see some vets posting more. I must say nothing particularly new happening here.... Well there was a sketchy guy yesterday trying to get into a car down the block. I called and the sheriff took over...rare incident in a small town. Used the app "Nextdoor" and found out more from neighbors. Thankful I had it. -
I can only speak to tummy tucks. Yes I was very sore and could not get up or down for a few days without pain. Also, pain pills were a must for the first week for me. My doctor pulls your mons ( pubic area) up when doing his TT ... And also does liposuction there and on my love handles. It really helped! It took about 6 months for all my swelling and itching to go away... The scar has faded a lot in the 18 months post op. Best of luck. Ask a lot of questions is my advice!

Maybe try a member named "bacon". He was a long distance trucker who posted about packing his cooler and walking around his truck. Good luck.

He sounds vindictive. Glad you are away from his toxic control. Deep breaths... Things will work out....eventually... Not good karma to keep stalling. Judges take note of that, I'm hoping. Thinking of you[emoji93]. Hope you move on to the next chapter soon. And close that book... Except for the girls... As hard as it is. Take the high road...it is much more becoming and in the end, more satisfying ( ok. Harder too)

To this day ... Years after my band placement , I still have a protein shake/ bar on occasion . Probably 2-3x a week. It helps with my protein count. Lunch can be a chore to eat. These work for me.

Pre/Post Surgical Plans Are Not Required
Julie norton replied to 4MRB4PHOTO's topic in Rants & Raves
My two cents is people should be ready for a true lifestyle change with WLS . Long term success means changing some bad habits and incorporating new ones... Just my take. It personally took me YEARS to finally adjust to a new way of thinking about food. And I still work on my protein, water and exercise every week. I wish success for all. It seems elusive to some. And for whatever reason WLS does not work for all. -
water & proteins
Julie norton replied to Michilingi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Although pedialyte has sugar, I found out that watered down, it kept me hydrated during a bout with the flu. I'm glad you are aware of sipping water or any flavored beverage w/ o sugar. I sometimes put a bag of mint tea into my water glass at room temperature.... Just to get some flavor and more liquids. Good luck. -
How long will my lap band last?
Julie norton replied to JuicyDew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oops my post says 20 years ...no way!! 10 is the correct number of years I'm headed for. I can't edit it. So I'm adding this. My doc says my band should be good for life... Fingers and legs! crossed .
