Julie norton replied to Julie norton's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Well. There was pecan, pumpkin, cheesecake, apple, lemon meringue and a pumpkin cheesecake. Entirely too much for our small tribe... sent much home.... I'm with you Dairy.... one day does not a downfall make. And may I say it was dang good [emoji512] -
Stay warm and dry Kathy. We need your uplifting posts!

Are revisions REALLY necessary?
Julie norton replied to Babbs's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
What a nice civil discussion by mostly vets... this is why I like this board. Good info on banders... not many of us left.... I'm celebrating 10 ! Years[emoji322] dec 11.... woo hoo Not perfect, but way better than almost 100 lbs ago I'm thankful -
It's been a whole year now, where did the time go?!?
Julie norton replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It is wonderful for us old timers to see you shrink before our eyes. You look so much happier and healthier and dare I say. Younger!!! Hurrah for you!! -
Wow that's a lot of pork bellys...at least it has protein. (And sodium and fat). I laugh... What was the most unusual dish you tried GW? And do comment on the patrons. We can live vicariously.... I think I'm glad they don't have a bacon restaurant near me!

First stool....painful [emoji20]
Julie norton replied to janicemscott's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My take : Yes on the enema and suppositories and smooth move tea .... some of us vets say it is like passing a pineapple. Ouch! In the beginning[emoji531][emoji531] Best of luck. You may take a while. Like hours today trying to solve this....But feel better !! -
Congratulations on starting a new way of eating and living. My take is that you can get what you put into Wls . Please follow your dr rules and keep going....this can be life changing!!!! Next month I'll celebrate 10 years with my band. It changed my life... and almost 100 lbs. so happy with my decision... Just know there is a lot of push back against banding. It does not work for some ... clearly. I like the keep it under inflated camp myself. Less problems !!

I'm grieving for my children's environment, women, and people of color. Time will tell -
Sounds very nice. What a great trip to look forward to! And kids will not be out of school...more adult shore excursions and shipboard entertainment perhaps? Fun ahead!!

Maybe it is just me, but I look for lap band support under the lap band support group.... one of the FEW places some of us can talk band stuff... now it is revision talk...?? I know some of us are still here working hard on our personal program! Please say what works for you with the band... Protein drink and bars are a good thing for me. And band appt scheduled. Ok water and exercise

How did you decide your goal weight, and did you reach it?
Julie norton replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm in the camp where your body decides. If you eat right and exercise, you can get to a comfortable low weight you like.... The real feat is maintaining a good number for yourself. Where you need to be compliant... but happy and healthy. Took me years to land there -
Nice itinerary ...unsure if it is hot or cold on that voyage? What do you think?

Wls out of town
Julie norton replied to rico31286's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes I had to travel 10 years ago. Made it tough for follow up. Had to take a whole day to drive 3 hours. Appt. drive back. Switched to someone only 40 minutes and find it is better -
Most of us are doing the best we can with our own program. I cannot reinforce horrible choices. But we all have choices to make, don't we? Amazing the defensive behavior that is seen here. You do your program, and unless you specifically ask, we will try to help....most of us wish you success, it is an everyday job for me to keep my protein water and exercise going. Some days are better than others... That piña colada[emoji483]...

Wow Liz. What a trip!! Cruises are such luxury to not move luggage in each destination. The food often looks better than it is sometimes. The sit down dinners are lovely. And they do have a gym and many stairs!!! You deserve a wonderful trip!!!

Yes. Life is soooo different years out... I think it is hard to understand if you haven't lived this life for YEARS. I'm also happy to see the joy of newbies. I just think posting pictures of weight loss at 2 weeks out might be a little too much too soon, but that is just the bitch in me!

Why are all "diet" supplements marketed like candy?
Julie norton replied to Didjit's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Nope. Just glad to have flavored protein. Yummy occasionally after ready to drink gets old -
You can be amazed what you can pick through and lightly eat and others don't notice if you engage and move food around. Don't finish some courses. Get up and help clear or use the restroom. Lots of tactics we know!!

Julie norton replied to Margie122's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Bless you. Taking care of parents is an honor. I was lucky to do so with both... dad left us last year after years of being bedbound at home and his mind deteriorating. That said. It is draining and emotional Glad you have some health started on your side, just remember you!! ' Hydrate. Walk. Counselor... massage. Whatever helps you to be present! Please let us know how you and your nursing skills fare. -
Does anyone else regret their surgery?
Julie norton replied to Torressl1234's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Time is a wonderful healer. This will be but a memory at the one year mark if all goes well!! I don't regret a thing about the Wls. Even at down times. My life is richer in many ways. Good luck -
Hurrah!!! But don't think things can't change if you don't stay vigilant. Just read here for a while and you will see plenty of whoopsies. A bad month and things go south. I'm guessing it's everyday for us. Just keep trying is my motto. Everyday. Most are good Some are not

It seems to me to be the best opportunity of my life to make some deep changes. I can't go back to feeling less than. Everyday I try Most days work well Some don't. I get back off the derailed train and start again. For years. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
