Not understanding why the lap band haters want to hang out in this forum to post total negativity. Perhaps the new surgery type would be where you want to post POSITIVE thoughts?

Happy to see some of us are just working our program as life goes on Nothing is perfect, yet we are still here. Wonderful

I have worked hard for years. Knowing it’s a different lifestyle... you might be hungry for a few hours. You might not want to move much... but it works. And water. Still hard for me. Protein shakes help me a lot Best to all that try! It is a lifestyle balance for me

What Your Doctor Didn’t Tell You Before Weight Loss Surgery: Stalls ‘n’ More
Julie norton replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Thanks for the sensible advice, Alex. It helps some of us older banisters to hear a fresh voice. Please share, if desired, your path these days. Thanks Jules Norton -
Surely there are many vets out there. It is nice to chat with anyone who works with wls and the years that follow? Please post

Who has had the band? Pros? Cons? Successful? Complications?
Julie norton replied to HMA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Many of us are successful with banding . Least invasive and returnable I’m 12 years in and still living a wls life. Lots of us left due to such negative and loud feedback from those who did not have luck ( for many reasons) Some of us stick around.... -
I buried my 15 year old grand-son

Kathy I am horribly saddened by your news. That is not the correct order for family to lose a member. Grieving will be a long and windy road. I can just say: I’m so sorry for your family. Please take care of yourself. And. Yes. WE LOVE YA BABY -
We seem to be a diminishing group; rest assured that many are here and successful years and years . Please don’t hesitate to ask for options. Everyone is different, but finding your formula is priceless!! Jules

I hope you are finding success! Your eating and drinking hopefully has improved. Yogurt, refried beans, and Cheese sticks. All helped me. We all are different . Try try try is true! (Sometimes a heating pad and laying on my left side helps if things don’t feel right) Mostly it seems like good behavior wins a lot. And... jumping right back in when there is a whoopsie . Best of luck. You can change the rest of your life by immersing yourself.

No change after multiple fills?
Julie norton replied to GastricGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great input! It appears to me that anyone undergoing wls should be ready for a huge lifestyle change. It happens in increments, changing long term behaviors. Best to all who try! -
People with no more than 100 pounds to lose
Julie norton replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Best of luck... I have read so many posts from ladies whose weight is around 250....and their desire to be 150-170. Many have done exactly that. ( myself included) I think that sweet spot may not be exact, but it is much easier to navigate this world from a smaller size. It seems to be relative to where you start. 400 starting weight may be happy with 250... all about comfort and control for me. So thankful -

Thanks for being so polite Missouri. It does get confusing at times. Whatever type of wls anyone chooses... it is yourself that ultimately does the work -

For whatever reason , my feet are much more sensitive to cold..for years....my grown kids are forever saying how warm the house is when they’re here. I really don’t care to be cold in my home.

Glad to see other long term banders here. Many cannot keep their band for all kinds of reasons . I’m so happy to say I just passed my 12 year mark...🌟🇮🇹 2006 included a life changing procedure lap band placement in Fresno Yes... a few ups and downs. But still close to my high school weight. (And please don’t think it has been smooth.. I make many mistakes) Very THANKFUL🎄🎅🏼🎅🏼

Qs to Ask Self When Considering Plastic Surgery
Julie norton replied to CarmenP's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
It is such a personal decision. Myself, I waited years after wls, and was happy to see that pouch flap taken off. As above, it hurt like hell, but after a month or so, I never looked back . Ps i was in my sixties when I flattened my stomach and mom’s pubis. -
Well. Although I do have irritatation issues about 1-2 times per year; I am fortunate to be 12 years banded in December!! I either go for liquids. Yuck. Or if it persists A small unfill. Wait months. Gain 5 lbs.. Have it adjusted.. lose 5. Good luck with issues. It is not an easy road!
-
Yes I do have an ancient 4 mm band. I’m steady where I am at 1 mm. Had it inflated higher years ago. There have been times in the last decade that my band has become irritated for no apparent reason and I have fluid removed. If I’m tight, and it is a long flight and trip, I deflate a tiny bit. If I’m not feeling over restricted... flying goes well for me. It is a dance with restrictions and fills for me...about 1-2 times a year. Good to check in also for my health. Best to you and flying
-
My one cent: my band does swell on flights.... I have to Baby it with yogurt. Or string cheese. Stuck in the air is no bueno. I spent too much time uncomfortable or in the bathroom before I learned this. Almost 12 years for me, and still I need to keep certain restrictions at times ...flying is one of them (For long flights and trips, I do have a small amount removed.... not going to Italy on my dream vacation and fighting my band)

Pre/Post OP Advice, Words of Wisdom Do's and Don'ts
Julie norton replied to MariaBe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes on patience.... really look at long term. Changing your life! In 6 months, you may like feeling successful after years of not “keeping it off” In a year.... you may really like your improved life. Please stay off the scale for days is another hint. It WILL happen if you follow your program... short term is nothing compared to having a different life!
