Reputable Lap Band Surgeon In Socal

I used S. Lyass. What can you tell by talking with your surgeon before hand? Good hygiene? A southern draw? His poker face? Really do some research on a doctors name, his reputation and go somewhere like this forum and research how the patients overall opinions vary. I have read a couple negative comments about Lyass, but to me he was fine, surgery went well, my incisions healed very well. So hmm... with my insurance I paid ZERO. ( a small amount to the anesthesiologist). Good Luck
  5. My opinion the licensed Doctor should also know the amount of CC's that band should hold. When filling he should never have filled it up that far. It was either leaking not inplace correctly should have been first to his mind since he is the professional. If this is the route you want or feel you need to take just go talk to a lawyer, listen to what the details are. The 1st doctor may be broke as hell and not even practicing medicine anywhere so do some research first. Good luck.

Substituting Soda After Lap Band Surgery ?

My doctor advises against soda. I have tried the diet drinks and well... it leaves my mouth dry and I just dont like the after taste. Sooooo this was my cure. I take and pour just a little juice in the bottle of an empty bottle or glass (20oz) and add water. I try to stay away from sugary juices like ones with the word cocktail or lite, shooting more for the ones that say diet. Best bet is to read the label and look for sugars and carbs. Good luck, hope this helped.

    Lap Band Newbie

Well I have had no problems at all with Isopure zero carb protein powder. Im full after having the shake and love it. Comes in many flavors and I have read it to be recommended for atleast the 1st month due to the limited diet. Being on this diet I have already lost 10lbs in just 5 days and hope it keeps coming off. I never realized just how many carbs I ate before until now. Good luck.
  8. For the 1st month I read that Isopure Zero Carb protein shake is the best to have due to its high amount of protein per shake. As far as preparing it I bought a shaker glass and just mix with water at the beginning. You can always try different things to mix it with just remember it likes to clump up in heat (found out the hard way in broth..lol ) Just remember the Lap Band doesn't do all the work for you, it is WORK. But pretty easy. Good Luck to all.
  9. I will also note: Anyone that would like to compare notes or just need someone to listen that can relate, just add me... I'm usually on everyday. ( Remember to SMILE , it makes people wonder what the heck you are up to...lol )
  10. I was banded 11/21/2011. I LOVE food, I'll admit it. I think the way to look at this is we can still love food, just less of it. I have had to do alot of soul searching to see why I ate when I ate. I found a lot of times I just ate out of bordom, depression, etc. I also love to show off that I as a man, know how to cook better than most women...lol This is a journey, a lifes decsion to be thinner, not just to be smaller, but for health reasons. And no, this isnt easy, not at all. But I "HAD" to make a change. It has been a week and I can already feel a change in my self, I feel happier and seem to have more energy to get up and do things. I try to exclude almost all carbs and starchs which were the basics of my whole diet before the band. Good luck on your journey, and never be afraid to ask for help or advice.

    Lap Band Newbie

I too just had my band done (Nov 21st) and have a low BMI. For us I think the trick is to pay attention to what we eat and how much and how often. This is my 6th day and have already lost 11 pounds by simply living by the material they gave me ( with very little adjustments). One word of advice I will tell you is to start your day out with some benefiber! Oh lord I was dying...lol But besides that just stick to the 4 oz (3oz protein to 1 oz of veg or fruit) meals 3 times a day and eat right like they tell you too. If you ever have any questions or concerns dont hesitate to ask your doctor, you can even ask me or this forum for more support too. Good luck!

2.5 weeks out and no energy

Patience and persistence are 2 good words to remember with this road of life we have chosen. Remember we didn't gain this weight in a week, so it goes without doubt that this is going to be an on going "life change" that will in due time pay off 10 fold. Don't panic, remember the simple steps, don't compare what you eat to others around you. You will do fine.

    Feeling like crap

If you ever feel as if you might call your doctor, you should do just that! Before my surgery they made sure to stress to me to get plenty of bed rest for the 1st 2 days, no exceptions. I was feeling badly at the beginning due to the whole diet change and read different threads here and BOOM... 4th day post op and I feel great. Keep up the good work just remember to give your body time to heal, and be very patient. Good luck.

    Day After Lap Band Surgery....

Thank you Msfotobug, I love and need the encouragement! Good luck with your surgery, just remember to be patient.
  15. I received my surgery on 11/21/2011 @5pm. Feeling a lot better than I thought I would. Still fighting the hunger pains and the occasional "kick to the gut" feeling. But the lap band is all worth it if everything comes together like I was told. <crossing fingers> I know I can do this, I just have to stay on track.

    Day After Lap Band Surgery....

Don't get me wrong "legnarevocredbu", I only had a couple small bite and made sure I chewed to a fine mush, drank very little water with the tiny meal. Took my time and when I was full I stopped. Im very pleased to say after just the few bites I was full. Don't let temptations creep in, stick to your goal. I'm sure there are going to be times ahead when I just feel the urge to cheat again, but remember to do so in moderation (a bite), savor it...slowely and try not to do it very often. That's my plan anyways. Oh and THANKS... I'm trying very hard on this.

    Day After Lap Band Surgery....

Thank you guys for the encouragement! I cheated a little yesterday, it being Thanksgiving and all, but didn't do to bad. Was suppose to still be on a thick liquid diet but cheated and had a bite of turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie. Funny how all it took was a tiny bite of each and I was DONE! LOL But that's what we have to do, live and learn our limits. Today I'm back on the thick liquids. One thing I can highly suggest is making sure to get some BENEFIBER, it will truly help you with the gut pains you may acquire by day 2-3 due to the sudden diet change and lack of fiber. GOOD LUCK to you guys too... have faith in yourselves, you CAN do it!
