Ewww. Spit After Having Lap Band Surgery
Mandii posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all! I was just recently banded on Thursday, Nov 17th. My healing process has gone along rather nicely, though I do have one concern... I'm salivating like mad. I don't think it's because I'm hungry, because I'm not really and I keep drinking my Protein shakes to stave that off. It just seems that I can't stop salivating, which is causing a pretty bad taste in my mouth. I keep brushing my teeth and everything, but it just keeps happening. I don't want to swallow it, because a lot of bubbles seem to come with it and I really don't need the gas issue anymore than I already do. So, I've been spitting into my sink, gargling some Water, only to have to do it again a little while later. It's awful! How can I stop this? Why is it happening? -
Do You Drink Coffee After Lap Band Surgery ?
Mandii replied to Sharon1222's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I work at Starbucks. Without coffee, I am nothing! I've only been banded about five days now, and haven't had coffee since -- when I go back to work in a couple of days, I'll probably have to start with tea and slowly work myself back to it. I may just have to do a short brew with cream and a half a splenda for a while! -

Lap Band Surgery Dec 13, Scared From All The Negativity
Mandii replied to preciouscrowe1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was so nervous because of the risks associated with the lapband surgery, but at the end of the day -- your quality of life if you lose the weight will be so much better. You'll put less strain on your heart for sure, which could extend your lifespan by years. Certainly there's short-term risks and long-term risks and worries with any procedure, but for me, it will be so worth it if I can just get through the hurdles I need to get through. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do wonderfully! Just pay attention to what the doctors say, make sure you're at least getting Protein and Vitamins in, and you'll be fine. -
The pain is not so bad -- I'm hoping today will be my first day without any pain medicine at all, and I took a small victory in being able to wear a bra today. (oh, simple pleasures) I've gone on to Protein drinks which have helped a little with the hunger. I attempted some oatmeal yesterday that didn't go down very easily at ALL so I've been a little worried to try anything thicker than my Muscle Milk Light. How about you? Also, I added you. Secret group ftw!

Hi all! I'm a newbie here. I had my Lap Band surgery on 11/17/11 by Dr. Hamn in Dallas, Texas. So far I've seen a rousing success, with ten pounds lost in a little less than a week. I'm twenty-three, and my six-month goal is to get to less than a size 16. Currently, I'm 258lbs, previously 270 the day of surgery! I have a blog updating my progress at http://healthier-happier-me.blogspot.com/! Anyway, I'd love to hear from you all! I look forward to posting here more and more.

Ahh! How exciting! That's wonderful, and I'm sure glad to see someone else that - not only is local, but had it the same day I did! I look forward to reading your blog too! Ahhh, onederland - my goal for that is something around six months to the next year, but it's so great that you're already there! Congratulations on your progress so far!

I went to a seminar the second week of September, and went to my Nutritionist appointment and had my Psychiatric Evaluation within a week. On the first of October, I was accepted by my insurance. I had my tests done on November 2nd, and a pre-surgery appointment on November 8th. All in all, it's taken me around three months from start to finish - from my seminar to my surgery.
