BrownDoesAll replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi ladies been really busy and side tracked but I do read nightly. Its hard to post from my blackberry so I. Say I will wait and post in the am but get to work and get busy u know. CGJ lady u look marvelous. love the leggins outfit and agree withe the booties instead of the black heels. I applaud your adventurous spirit your not afraid to put it out there. I read wwhere u feel lost and empty sometimes I can relate at 57 I too am thinking what's next? It scares me. So glad we are beyond the food for security stage. Here comes a cyber hug keep doing u cause u are alright. Special shout out to Globe all good ideas about the switchout for thanksgiving meals. Ladies we can get through the holidays without gaining. I try to remember its a normal week with one day of extra. I am going to fast like normal this week. Did my Monday and will do Friday instead of Thursday. Still bouncing around the same stupid five pounds 5:2 is no miracle cure for me. Laura as to capping the group do u have others that want to join? If they are serious maybe we can help. Maybe keep giving advice on the main thread? I don't know? If u had capped earlier we wound not have met me or Sar (sad emoticon here). Oh well head up, chest out, marching forward. Cyber hug to u all! -
What did Brown eat today?

I have a theory. I. Think my body loses best with no carbs. I used to be type 2 diabetic during which I. Cut out sugar and carbs. Of course with the sleeve there was zero to very low carbs I lost weight. I think when I start introducing carbs my weight loss stops. Yes I know not rocket science. But is the delemia. I am so up and down cause carb intake is so up and down. I am always low carb but my. Body likes zero carbs and I can not live real life on zero carbs. URGH very frustrating !! -

Hi Globe I was just thinking the same thing that we haven't heard from Coops. We were in the same slow or not losing boat. I have not lost much on 5:2. I actually like the fast days I don't think about food and I am able to practice control over snacking especially late night. So I will stick with it for a while. Let's see if my new low sticks with me. Have a great day ladies. -

Hi Globe I hear u. I was embarrassed to talk about being at 255 pounds and needing help to lose more. Before I started posting again I would think I am still a fatty these ladies won't understand. What I have come to remember we all came from the same place and our current weight or weight to lose is all relative. I hear u knowing some are inches away from goal and others (like me) have miles to go makes me feel like the fatty of the group. But positive note I know we have all been down the same tough road and are here for each other -
Can You Really Just "get Back On The Wagon"?
BrownDoesAll replied to JessicaAnn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Jessica I don't know how much u have to lose but my biggest regret is losing 75 pounds in the begining and slacking off. Now I am two years out and its much harder to lose. At 4 months out u absolutely can get back on the wagon. Tell yourself ok vacation over time to buckle down again. I agree with Laura pick a day. And go cold turkey. Start to track everything u eat. Allow yourself the occasional treat or carb thing but do count it. Don't miss this great window where your body is used to losing and it will keep coming off. Remember why u started this and where u want to be. Get back on the wagon you will thank yourself later -
Still trying to find the best place to get moving. I have been away on business that has interrupted my search but. I have not given up. I love to dance so looking for a Zumba class right after work where everyone is not 20 and skinny! My have found it at the Y

Hi ladies. I am still here. I have been away on a business trip and they are all day workshops at the end of the day I don't want to see or talk to anyone. I have read all the previous posts I agree the private thing appears to be fixed this is the first time I had to log in from my phone to read from this link. UK thanks for interjrcting some positive we were all in a downward spiral to self hating and we are all to awesome. And strong for that. Strength is what I get from all of you. Strength to keep marching forward (thanks Sar) thanks to know what link to share that will lift us up (thanks GT) strenght to share our sorrows (OD and Cheri its goona get better) strenght to do what's really hard (CGJane u got that) and last to all of us strenght to keep trying to lose weight after haing lost 100s of pounds and we still want to be better in this world where food rules. We are all awesome and I am so glad we are here. So stay strong believe me my next post won't be so uplifting I am right were u are Coops stuck in the same weight for way too long gaining and losing the same five pounds for months in a row. URGH!! -
Not a recipe but I found a Mint Chocolate Power Crunch bar , that tasted just like the mint girl scout cookies. I tried one from GNC and will never have those in my house I would eat a box.

Hi ladies.. I found the 5:2 group. Stupid question. I post from my pc and I don't know how to make a blank line in the Reply to this topic window. Anyway.. LV I saw your last suggestion about purchasing a bike. I've had all of that.. I treadmill, traded in for a bike, seat was too small, gave that to hubby and he got me a recumbent bike. better seat wise. I have no discipline to do it. It sits in my family room with a good view to the TV. I've been riding in the AM before everyone gets up.. but its way to easy to bypass and do something else. I have no discipline to do it myself. That's why I'm looking for outside exercise, if I pay I'll go, and if I plan to go right after work, I'll go. Still looking for the best fit. Has to be at the right place and has to be the right time, and has to have the right things I like to do.. which is group exersie like Zumba, step or Aqua Aerobics. -
Hi.. I found my way back. Feed is right this is like being lost at sea.. and searching to get back to family and friends.. and find a sense of normal. I have only been able to post from my pc.. and the view from my pc is not really good.. our tickers are missing and that looks strange. I started in the lap band section, but I went to update my patient profile and selected Sleeve and I think that will help. I was finally able to use my stored link on my blackberry to find the 5:2 forum.. and can see its not locked out.. anyone can post. There was a full day when we were not able to get in by a redirect from the vertical sleeve link. During that time, and I blame the site being down. I was OUTTA CONTROL!! I ate every piece of chocolate, cookie, candy, chip and crap I could get my hands on. As the site gets back to normal so will I. LOL!!

Now I remember why I have a problem with exercise. I went to the neighborhood gym ( LA Fitness ) and asked for a tour. They have the Zumba classes during the time it will be good for me to take. But the gym is filled with young men and women.. not 50 something year old folks that really need the exercise. I feel so out of place. So I'll check out the neighborhood Y. Eating good on my non control/fast days, so far I've got the snacking under control, despite the large chocolate chip cookie hubby bought home. He really is no help at all. but this is all me so. Hope everyone is having a good days. -

Globe. I missed your post as I was ranting about my problems. I had a friend with MS. she fell so far into depression and outward hatred we are no longer friends. She pushed me away , not sure why, but I was with her long enough to know its not an easy road. She did live a close to normal life. I don't know a lot about MS but doesn't it have stages or degrees. I'm glad your in a place you feel you can get some care. I have no words to express my true thoughts. -

URGH!!!. I'm still here reading your posts nightly. I'm frustrated and giving in to the fact that I need excersise to start losing agin. This is what I've gone through for the past year. Start out strong focused and trying to lose.. I lose about 5 pounds..which takes months.. then gain it all back in one to two weeks. I"ve focused on lowering my daily intake down to 1200 calories.. Maybe lower?? I'm doing the two fast days.. those are really easy. I"ve cut out the snacks on fast days. and doing puzzles at night keeps the nightly non fast days snacking down to a minimum. Only thing missing is the excersise. So.. i'm heading to check out Curves.. and LA Fitness. I like the group classes.. Looking to get into at least three times a week. I saw pictures of myself at the anniversary party. I felt beautiful in my new dress, but when I saw the pictures.. mann our image of ourselves are so different then reality. I looked like a huge blob!.. I'll post pics as soon as I can get them on this computer.. URGH!! Stick with me ladies.. I'm not getting any help from home.. They all love the way I look.. but its me that counts and I'm not happy!! URGH!! -

Good Morning ladies. Everyone has a story, that's what makes us who we are. This explains why we have come so far in our weight loss journey's because we are strong survivors. Everyone has had to overcome something, or in some cases still struggling to overcome something, and weight loss is just one of those things. When I think about it the extra pounds at this point are a small blip in the obstacles some of us have had to over come. UK Cathy I too believe in the power of prayer and send a pray out to all of us, for peace of mind, body and spirit GT I would love to help OD send that book to you. OD I'll PM you to see how we can work that out. It's a fasting Thursday for me. This 5:2 is not moving my scale much (maybe my batteries are bad.. I wish) but.. no biggie. I know what I have to do and I'll just keep on until I do. Keep your heads up ladies, my montra "Stay strong and focused" -

LV - breath. It's so hard to have most mothers in the house.. Short visit I hope. Ending my fast Monday on a good note. It's 9pm and so far no snacks.. that's my recent goal.. no snacks on fast days.. even planned ones. I was trapped Sunday after church by Boy Scouts selling popcorn.. All they had left was popcorn with chocolate drizzle. Two of my favorite things, popcorn and chocolate. To support the Boy Scouts I bought some. But i'm leaving it out in my car. I'm almost certain I wont venture outside in the middle of the night to get a handful. I am almost certain I wont do that. Stay strong ladies!! -
Water Aerobics and water zumba
BrownDoesAll replied to sherry24184's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sherry.. congratulations on your life choice and your lifestyle changes. Personally I hate exercise, but finding it is the best way to get that scale moving in the right direction. Good for you!!.. Actually your giving me inspiration to get moving myself. Zumba and recumbent biking is my choice. -
SandeeD.. Nothing is a sure fire gaurentee, but if you follow the plan you will lose weight. I am two years in and though I didn't lose as much weight as I wanted to or could have (my own fault) I am so glad I have made this life changing decision. The day after the surgery I no longer had to take Metfhormin for my type 2 Diabetes. And two years later my AIC (if your familiar) is way down, no signs of Diabetes. The sleeve is a tool you'll have for life to help with your weight loss journey, and its a journey. As for the HealthCare act I can't help you there.. that is an issue that must be addressed.. However,, you shouldn't worry much about the surgery or losing weight.. It will be hard, but worth it in the end. Relax, make your decision, stick to your plan and move forward. You could stay in worry land forever . Good luck with your final decision.

Way to Rock the sleeve..you should be so proud. Oh the joy of seeing that next size down!!

Almost 9 months out. Opinions on going back on a full protein shake diet for a few weeks?
BrownDoesAll replied to Jenny12's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Of course you have to do what you think will work for you.. I agree with ITsMe switching it up may help you keep moving. What ever you do.. physically, the most important thing is to keep your head in the game, which it sounds like you are. Good Luck!! you can do it -
Special prayers and cyber hugs. You'll be fine.. Hopefully you've been reading the posts and know what to expect. Not an easy road but well worth it
