10 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery And Feeling Weak
BrownDoesAll replied to MissE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep. I struggled with the weakness for about 2 weeks. Glad I took 2 weeks off work after surgery. Some of the weakness comes from the anesthesia. Obviously your body has to get used to the drastic reduction in calories also attributes to weakness. Hang in there it gets better. For me the weakness was very hard to deal with, but it got better. i feel great!! -
Worst Foods You Can Eat With The Gastric Sleeve
BrownDoesAll replied to shannonbcaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone's tummy is different and everyone will react to food in different ways.. The one thing I've found consistent is the reaction to too much sugar. You may already know, but go to the Eggface website.. GREAT recipes and ideas for food -

Problems Finding Foods I Like Post Op 1 Month
BrownDoesAll replied to wickedmijagabby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seven weeks out and I tried to taste a piece of cake during Thanksgiving. I had to spit it out it tasted like pure flour. Yes our tastebuds changed. I hear that they eventually go back to normal. I would suggest checking out Eggface website.. there are tons of recipes, try different things and you'll come on something you like.. Maybe get used to this time and focus on something other than food.. in the long run that will be a good thing.. Find other things to fill your time with.. reading.. excersise.. talking to friends.. I hear it gets better! -

BrownDoesAll commented on AmberDawn's blog entry in AmberDawn's Blog
Hi Guys, I'm only a few weeks ahead of you, about 6 weeks out, The tired feeling was really bad for me, at week 2 and 3. I thought I'd never feel normal again. Take comfort in knowing your strength will come back. You wont always feel weak and tired. I hardly ever feel hungry. I must remind myself to eat sometimes. I hope that hungry feeling goes away for you soon. I'm sure it will our bodies are amazing. Hang in there. -
Emotions (8 Days Post Op)
BrownDoesAll commented on lifestartingnow's blog entry in Erica Joy Rowsey's Blog
Hi Erica, I also prayed with you, for you, for me, and others that are going through what we go through daily. Lord please continue to bless us as we move through the daily challenges of life. Please continue to place in our hearts the joy and love your grace and mercy brings. We are all flawed and will fall sometimes, but I have faith that you are always there to pick us up, and dust of off. Thank you Lord for giving us a new day to be the people we know we can be. Keep on keeping on!! -
Really take this time to learn and prepare for the sleeve after life. You must eat slower, you must hydrate and drink plenty of water, and above all think protein. during this time you will lose weight and add that to the amount you'll lose after surgery.. this is an important time too.

5 Days Til Happy Sleeve Day... Who Knew I'd Miss Eggs And Chicken So Much!
BrownDoesAll commented on favoredone's blog entry in The WEIGHT and WAIT of my Days
I'll admit the liquid post op diet sucks.. but you may be in some pain so you wont want much anyway.. during that time picture yourself making healthier choices. The 3 week puree phase was easier, cream soups, cream of wheat, puddings were my friends during this time. I got a blender and blended peaches and pears. I blended boiled chicken and added it to cream of chicken soup. I could not get in hardly any protien so I didn't lose any weight during those three weeks. Now I'm in soft foods and can eat eggs, tuna, soft fish and things are working out much better. The other thing I've noticed (and I hope this happens to you), food taste different so the things I craved before I don't crave now, except chocolate. You will make this work, becuase you've taken this drastic step and you'll learn to use the tool to your advantage while still treating your self to the foods you love (eventually). Good Luck!! -

Tell us what you think was the reason for such sucess? -
YEAH!! always glad to hear the sucess stories.. sounds like your well on your way to big sucess
-
So sorry to hear the frustration. When you know something is right for you and obstacles are placed in your way at every turn.. IT's HARD!! I have added you to my growing prayer list. What God has for you no man can stand in the way. Please hang tough. It took me a very long time from point of decision to point of surgery took almost a year. Be prepared.. when it goes to your insureance they may ask for a 6 month diet schedule. Your bariatric doc should have had you on that to begin with.. just in case the insurance asked for it. This site is positive and supportive so you've found one good thing in your journey. Hang in there!!

Suggest you stop looking at the scale daily. The scale will play mind games with you. continue to use your tool. I had the same stall. I actually lost more weight on the pre op diet then I have 5 weeks after surgery. But in reading these blogs and forums of the weight loss sucess I'm encouraged. So let's keep doing what's right and hang in there.

90 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery
BrownDoesAll replied to aliciar97's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great Job!! good to hear positive effects -
way to go.. I'm 2 months out and have not lost much since surgery. Actually I lost more during the pre op phase. I've just stared soft foods, but find I can eat almost everything except beef. I am focused on the protien and water and limited to no carbs. Excersise is my next goal I'm asking.. what do you think has been the reaason for your sucess? Did you have a slow start?

Well I'm 5 weeks out, recently started soft diet. Glad to be able to eat "solid" foods and not pureed everything. Of course my first outing is to Red Lobster with out of town family. It was a victory for me. After waiting an hour I was actually hungry,, which is not usually the case. I shared a bowl of clam chowder with my hubby. No drinking during meal is still hard but getting used to it. Its funny telling the waiter.. no thanks nothing to drink for me.. not even water. For diner, I thought to eat from hubby's plate (he's good and lets me do that), but I really wanted grilled shrimp, so I ordered the grilled shrimp and brocolli. Cut up each shrimp into little small pieces and enjoyed!!.. Then becuase we waited so long for a table the manager gave us deserrts on the house. Most deserts in RedLobster is a la mode, so I had a few spoonfuls of icecream and I was totally satisfied and had shrimp for lunch the next few days. I had a great time with family, friends and my sleeve!!

Nervous About Not Being Able To Eat/overeat...
BrownDoesAll replied to Hetera's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I'm new to this site and recently sleveed Nov 8th. I'm still on the 3 weeks of puree food stage. I had the same question.. how does the surgery take away your desire for foods you know you should not have. Well if you eat the right foods during your normal meals your physical hunger will be gone.. that's step number 1. I've noticed yes physical hunger is gone, but when hubby brings in Cookies, especially chocolate ones my desire kicks in. Its a daily battle and I must learn to control. since i can't eat anything except pureed foods (i tried once and the STUCK feeling is not one I want to go through again) I don't eat the chocolate cookie.. howerver, I know there will be a time when I will be tempted and I will plan in a special treat when I'm allowed to eat. This is a lifestyle change the sleeve is simply a tool to keep us full so we eat less. What we eat is still up to each indvidual. To be a sucess I think we gotta make changes. I've started with limiting what hubby brings in the house.. frankly he don't need the chcolate cookie either. -
Will This Liquid Diet Ever End? :/
BrownDoesAll commented on wantobeskinny's blog entry in wannabeskinny
I had the same experience. During my pre-op diet I ate at least a very small portion of protien and still lost the weight my doc needed me to lose. Do not go crazy stay away from the things that got you here, sweets and carbs. But get ready for several months of this.. The Post Op diet is not any better until your stomach heals.. Hang in there your moving into a life style change that takes time to adjust. -
Feeling Like Food Is Stuck.....help!
BrownDoesAll replied to Texas Gal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The first time it happend to me I called my bariatic center.. They told me I ate something too big or too hard or too lumpy to go down. I found I was eating tuna fish too early. They told me to take a few sips of hot Water and walk around it would go down. Once it did, I've been more careful about the size of my bites and staying within the assigned food stages. i was on pureed foods and tuna should not have been on my list of foods to eat yet. hope that helps -
Post Gastric Sleeve Op Day 4-14 Full Liquid, Suggestions?
BrownDoesAll replied to apebrown's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I found Cream Soups the best during this time. they are hot, soothing and filling. Also if you can tolerate pudding with protien. I'm still in the puree phase and my tummy seems to be made of iron. I can take it all. -
Impressive.. congrats.. Details.. what was your plan? how did you do it?

I am a 15 days post surgery. I started back to work and am feeling much better. I'm still very weak and I understand the blah feeling. I am focused on one thing at a time and that is getting the liquids in through the day. Not an easy task since we can't chug at this point. I find getting the water in and not giving into the blahs makes me feel better. Hang in there.. I hear its all worth it!!

Hi I am 54, married 31 years a mother of 3 and a new grandma to a new beautiful grandson. Actually he's the reason I decided to move forward with this surgery. Like many others I've done everything to lose weight, from medfast liquid diet with Oparh in the 80s, to weight watchers, jenny craig, slim fast, you name it I've done it. When my daughter told me she was pregnant I made a firm decsion I must try one more thing to lose the weight. Being a diabetic with high blood pressure, and watching my mom go through dialysis three times a week, I know I want to be around for my family. So to my family's dismay I took the plunge. Since I began the long quest to get the surgery, insurance, the 6 month commitment to them, then the pre-op diet, so far I've lost 20 pounds but thats been over 6 months and still I'm over 300 punds. Looking forward to the surgery scheduled for Nov 8th 2011, if nothing else but to get it over with and start the hard work. The pre-op diet has been fairly easy.. not very hungry and when I was I would eat a spoonful of peanut butter, a cracker and drink crystal light. No one but "us" really understands our journey, so I'm glad I found a place to write my thoughts. Hope to find a cyber friend to share thoughts and feelings as we go through this.
