    Why i want this surgery

Sitting on an airplane without a seatbelt extender, getting up from the sofa quickly enough to catch a two year old, playing soccer in the backyard with a two year old, Not wanting to finish a full bag of chips !! just a few things
  2. The surgery itself is a breeze. It is over before you know it. The first few days may be a bit roughh, but you can do it. Stay positive and know you'll feel better soon. Stay tuned in to this site for advice and encouragement.

Wouldnt it be nice! Ugh!?! :(

Hi Kelsnikol, you've had surgery and your body including hormones are going through things, that will take time to heal. You may be emotional for a while and begin to feel weak. This will pass, your strength will come back and hormones will be back to normal. Speaking from experience, you may want to talk to hubby about more support. My husband was not a fan of my choice. He liked me just the way I was. He was good in the beginning, but as the weight started coming off, he began to bring home little bags of chips, chocolate, cookies and donuts. I finally had to sit him down and ask that he not bring that sort of food in the house. I realize it was his choice to eat like that, thought I wish he wouldn't. It took a while, but eventually he got the idea and his attempts to sabatoge stopped. Your going through the hard part, and need all the help you can get. Talk to hubby, now is not the time to smell pizza. Good Luck, and I hope you start feeling better soon. Keep posting

Another reason to get the sleeve

Hi Fit2btied. First!! Your going with your family and they enjoy your company . Go to the game and enjoy yourself. Many of us have been there, the stares, insecure about fitting in the chairs, having to ask for a seat belt extender on the plane. My first YEAH.. was the day I flew and didn't have to ask for a seat belt extender. Yes.. your headed on a journey with a good ending. But its not a magic bullet.. this journey is in your head as well. You must be confident in yourself, and say HECK!! to the world.. Love yourself, your worth it. Those lessons don't come with the surgery, so start now. Go to the game and enjoy your family. Are you scheduled for surgery?

    Tracking carbs

My NUT said net carbs, to subtract the fiber. That works for me, it gives me more variety. Fiber is good for digestion so its a good thing.

    Califlower mash

Honest, just made it for diner with small shrimp and garlic sauce. Yummmy!!
  9. Are you eating the right foods for your phase? At 5 weeks out maybe your pureed or soft foods aren't soft enough. Don't try to eat hard foods too soon. Take small bites. Hope you'll do better soon. It does get better. Hang in there.
  10. Yes.. a weekly weight is a great idea. Don't panic if you don't see movement. At some point you will hit a stall. Just stick to the plan, stay hydrated and you'll do great. Keep us posted.

Hi new here just sleeved a mth ago

I am sorry your having a rough start. My biggest out the gate issue was weakness. Try to stick to the food phases. Don't rush the progress of what the sleeve can handle. My taste buds changes a lot. About 3 months out things were closer to normal. Its gonna get better.

    The frustration of it all

Hi calicojack42 I can understand your frustration. Trust us.. this phase will pass. to lose the maximum amount of weight you must follow the food phases. You'll want to use this time to learn to control your food urges. Food is out there and all around us. I'm not sure if your in the situation, but most are having this surgery because we have possibly lost our abilty or have a very difficult time with control over our food urges. Check the site for food choices during your stage. look for variety. I'll be honest at 6 weeks out you can't eat like normal and you'll want some things you just can't have. Your life for a little while will be protein with protein drinks. Eggs can be made in a few different ways, I loved egg drop soup. I purchased protein soup.. all things to get in my protein. You'll really want to use this time as designed, you can 't get this time back and this and the next few months are your opportune times to lose the maximum amount of weight. Hang in there..

Glad your both feeling better.. Now follow surgeons orders and you'll be fine. Stick with the posts and follow this site to answer questions and get encouragement. Best advice I can give you.. is don't push the sleeve.. Its new and needs time to heal. follow the eating plan.. don't move forward with the next stages until your cleared. Good Luck and stay strong.

    recovery time

I would say, to be honest the worst part of the journey was the feeling of weakness for the first 4 - 6 weeks. I had a hard time just walking through the mall (which I love to do). I can't imagine having a strenuous job during that time. Now that time has past and i'm in the best of health ( with more weight to reach my goal). Check with your surgeon If it's possible take the time you can. there may be some weakness in the very begining

ARG! Food is evil today and restaurants stink!

So sorry your having trouble. It is important to be able to go out with family and friends and enjoy yourself in that social setting without feeling frustration and sick. How are you with fish? I found backed fish worked well for me at 7 months. It's not has hard to get down as chicken and still has the protein. Most places serve some for of backed Talapia or Salmon. Be sure your not drinking before or during your meal. I also found solice with Chili. I've been at a restaurant and couldn't find a baked meal, and asked to see the manager.. then politely asked for an item that was on the menu as fried and asked them to bake it..they were more than happy to comply. What do you eat at home that goes down well? Hang in there.. Speaking from a 2 year sleever,, it really gets better and your tool will eventually become your friend.
  19. Yes. Gotta have the chocolate. NutriWise by Doctors Best Hot chocolate is Aspartame Free. 80 caloreis 3 carb and 15 protein. I'm not a coffee drinker but love this for my first hot drink of the day. Also add chocolate protein to surgar free chocoloate pudding. Jello chocolate mousse temptations All good for the chocolate craving.. but you must stay in control.

    Cant stop crying!

It's done before you know it!!. Making the decision do it was harder then the actual surgery. You got this..
  21. I'm back!. I was sleeved in Nov 2011, so I will celebrate two years being sleeved. I started my journey at 330 pounds. When I found out I was going to be a first time grandma, I knew I couldn't keep up with a two year old at 330 pounds. Having tried to lose weight for years to very little avail, I decided WLS was the way for me. Of course it was initially tough. The mandatory 6 months pre op, was tough cause I wanted to get started. Then the surgery was actually a breeze. The few months afterwards was really tough. Was so terribly weak for a while, thought I had made a mistake. However, once my body got used to the situation, I started losing and it was great. Eventually lost 75 pounds. Went from a size 24 pant (some times a 26) down to a size 18. Oh. I really thought I was cute!!. My hubby was really happy with me before and didn't want me to lose any more weight. I maintained at that size 255 for two years. Glad to have the tool that helped me eat smaller portions. Glad to have the control to follow the high protein, low carb lifestyle for eating. During the past two years, I find that I can eat anything I want, I can sometimes eat larger portions (though still smaller than normal). During the past two years I've often had periods of tracking my food and not tracking my food. During the past two years I've not gained any weight (beyond the occasional 3 - 5 pound swing). During the past two years I've been very happy with myself, my weight lose and life in general. Now.. not sure why.. I want to move on down. I want to continue my general to a better goal. Most recently I've started the 5:2 method for eating. That is eating regular for 5 days and 2 days to decrease the calories. Theory is by reducing calories for two days will overall reduce your calorie intake and thereby cause weight loss. Theory for this life style is other science that I'm not clear on or actually sold on.. that giving your body a resting period from eating is supposed to be good for you. Let me say right up front.. THIS IS NOT FOR FIRST TIME WLS PATIENTS. you MUST MUST MUST MUST follow the directions for eating from your surgeon. You MUST MUST MUST MUST.. follow the advice from others in your same situation. A 2 year sleeve is much different from a new sleeve. My 2 year journey is mine and its different for everyone. Over the past two years I've been reading the posts and blogs from this forum and it has helped to keep me focused and on track. I use this forum to get good tips on staying motivated, good food tips, reciepes, protein advice etc. This is an awesome forum. At this point I want to begin posting and replying in the Vet forum, and to do that I must post at least 100 times. I consider myself a sleeve VET, because I've lived this life for 2 years, especially if you include the pre-op time. I'm looking forward to now actally joining the discussions instead of simply reading about them. Now that I want to use my tool to continue my journey its time to get back in the game.

Been sleeved for almost 2 years

Hi. Good question why I stopped. At 255 I was in a size 18 I had not been in a size 18 for over 20 years and I was really happy with myself. I got busy with my daughter and new grand son and other life derailers. I mention hubby cause he would bring home my trigger foods. Chips and chocolates. I was doing the best I could to not gain any weight. Thoug I saw 255 daily on the scale I was satisfied with the 75 pound loss at that time. There were times when I tried to focus and lose more but scale wouldn't move and I lost focus. Yes I lost the weight for me not hubby and I have called him out on his attempts to sabotage my progress we have that under control now Laura-ven HI I follow the 5:2 group daily. I was so excited to see others in my situation on the 5:2 plan you Feedyoureye Georgia M2G Coops and Globtrotter are my source of inspiration and now Lisahopes and others have joined You guys are the reason I decided to begin posting again
