I've got that much for 'em and more...

Hey Audrey, I'm with Regence BC/BS, but I'm a fed employee, they don't do pre-approvals for us. I'm sure they'll cover it afterwords because I called and discussed it with them and I met their requirements. No supervised diet needed. BTW, cute pic!

Dang, and I even looked for a thread for us! LOL. Anyway, Hi, everybody!

I thought it was hilarious, honestly. But I'm really really really not PC. I have gay friends and have been called "breeder" more than once. If we were really honest, most of us say intolerant things at times. We have intolerant beliefs in our heads. It's part of being human. She's no different, except she says it out loud. But she also meant that in jest and WANTED to create outrage, which is how she makes her money- key issue. Most people don't really care what Ann Coulter thinks, except that she says witty and outrageous things about political opponents and so they hire her to speak. They buy her books. But she isn't all shock value, either. Have you have ever heard her speech about racial profiling and terrorism and airport security? I gave that speech a standing ovation in my living room after seeing it on TV. She's not stupid, that's for sure: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH4SzjwO9UU]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/ame] This latest "outrage" will probably deepen her pockets by another 2 or 3 million, too. And good for her. After all, we do still have free speech in this country. Love her or hate her, she does give us something to Rant and Rave about!

Good for you, Jodie!!!

Banded, Confused, and Bummed Out...Should I Remove It?
TheCascadian replied to bbw1924's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
bbw- love your username! Keep your chin up, this is only the beginning. You have not even had your band for one year yet- Very few of us can just effortlessly drop the weight, especially not when we are struggling with the mental portion of weight loss! I agree with what others said about some counseling, maybe even ask about some pills for compulsive behaviour? I dunno, I'm no doctor, but I do know there is plenty of help out there for you. If the people around you aren't supportive, you have to FORGET about them for a time and focus on yourself. As you said, they aren't struggling with this so it's easy for them to judge. You are doing this for good reasons and you deserve to succeed: don't let their expectations and attitudes ruin your efforts. And we have a rants and raves section on here to let loose on anybody who really steams you, so feel free to let it all out down there. Good luck to you, no matter what you decide. -
First Six Months of Lap Band: Average Weight Loss??
TheCascadian replied to bwaydiva's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Maybe it would be wiser to revise or re-issue a poll asking what PERCENTAGE OF TOTAL weight everybody lost at 6 months??? If you need to lose 60 total and were down 50 pounds at 6 months, you'd be at 83%! But if you were 150 pounds overweight and lost 50, you'd only be 33% there. Whaddaya guys think? -
What are your "automated meals"?
TheCascadian replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great thread! Keep it up, we pre-bandsters are lovin it. -
Okay, gotta jump in here and say I'm voting Libertarian. It's a protest vote, so it doesn't really matter who the Libertarians nominate... I just don't really think there is a functional difference between the two big parties. The majority of politicians in both parties want to raise taxes, increase spending, make war, offer their corporate and special-interest buddies some tax breaks and give big speeches all while eroding the Bill of Rights. No thanks, I'll "waste" my vote... ;D

Do I really have to give up Diet Coke
TheCascadian replied to JackSpratsWife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Diet Coke is only midly addictive. But Diet Coke with LIME is the cocaine of coke flavours. I'm seriously addicted, man. I'll be letting it go flat and then weaning myself off of it- IF I can... -
Hey guys... Is it just me or do we lose weight a lot faster than the ladies who are banded? Do we have a big enough "sample size" to make this generalization? Am I just nutty?

One procedure I really want to have... (other than the band)
TheCascadian replied to kyethra's topic in The Lounge
Okay, I totally thought this was about breast reduction! LOL! I was going, "I can't BELIEVE I didn't know that slang term! Turbinates? Whoda thunk- huh? ALLERGIES? NOSE? Ah, shucks..." -
Fat People are Harder to Kidnap... CLASSIC! My favorite was: "Preparing for Famine" LOL!

I just wanted to point out that most threads don't get killed. Usually the conversation just sort of ends. This thread will be the exception to that rule.

+1 to everyone who said 5 pounds either way doesn't mean a thing. Weigh yourself less often, like once every other week or once a month and this "non-yo-yo-ing" won't be as noticeable.

I'd like to hear from Hypoglycemics, please
TheCascadian replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used to have these attacks a lot, so I'd love to hear this as well... -
I honestly don't know why I'm fat. Frankly, it makes very little sense and I've always felt it was a bit unfair. I was a very active kid who also ate big. However, I should point out that my friends often ate just as much- despite being half my size. As an adult I do eat more than my much smaller friends, but not by a huge amount. They will get a cheeseburger, fries and a regular coke. I'll get a double cheeseburger, salad, diet coke. We all finish our meals. I exercsie, they don't. I'm fat, they are thin. I eat around 3,000 calories a day, high Protein, high fat, moderate carb, low sugar. If I had to honestly say why I THINK I am fat, it is a strange combo: 1) Excessive hunger/no satiety response, probably due to hypoglycemia/insulin resistance 2) abnormally high carb/calorie absorbtion I tried Atkins and it worked wonders, even though I was eating 4,000+ calories a day. When the weight loss started to slow down and then reverse, I cut back on the calories. At some point I was just plain starving myself- and exercising. I quit when I started looking and feeling sick. It was at that point that I realized there was something very wrong with my body, something that was quite literally out of my control and clearly unrelated to food. I don't have any mental issues with food aside from the "clean your plate" habit many of us learned as children. I don't think about food when I'm not hungry, don't binge, don't constantly eat sweets. They've tested me for all the thyroid conditions and other problems, but the truth is I'm healthy as a horse. And weigh almost as much as one. I'm just hoping the lap-band will keep my hunger in check so the exercise can actually have an effect on my weight. I'm excited to get running again, to be doing pushups and situps and weightlifting... I want out of this fat-prison. Of course, I ate my way here, but I was helped out by some unknown disease factors that allowed me balloon up over 425 pounds before I could even legally drink... I've been fighting a losting battle with this for the better part of a decade and now I'm going to get some help eating my way back out again.

How is a working person suppose to get all these pre-op tests done!?
TheCascadian replied to Candle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lucked out due to scheduling at my crazy job and most of my appointments just ended up falling on my days off. Had to take off one hour early one day and one whole day off, except for the actual surgery which will be quite a chunk of time. Sucks, but has to be done. -
No, honestly this thread should be stickied. As a testament to how NOT to leave Lapbandtalk.com!!! LOL.
