I hated the four week pre-surgery diet - the worst was the full week of nothing but protein shakes. Day before was just clear liquids - got to hospital at scheduled time and waited 5 HOURS before they wheeled me into surgery! Was NOT prepared for that! Stayed overnight as was required by insurance. went home next day with liquid pain med which I only took 2X that day - then never needed again. Did the liquid shakes post surgery which continually gave me mucho gas! Walking around outside and on treadmill really helped pass the gas. Within a week I was starving and gave up on the liquid. I have always been able to eat anything as long a I chew, chew, chew! At least so far. Had my first fill on 11/4/11. Don't feel anything diff. Can still eat a horse, hooves and all! I fill up faster - definitely, but get hungry in about 2 hrs. Started back to my exercise class at our local hospital after couple weeks. Weight loss is pretty slow - was told it would be getting the lapband rather than the bypass -- hoping the slowness would aid in letting my old saggy skin "retract". LOL -- Most of the weight I've lost was because of the pre-op diet! Hoping for at least 1 lb a week! Feel very lucky I've had no complications or pain! Enjoy reading the other stories - keep posting!
