well that's not being rude...that's called harassment and you need to report the person to one of the moderators....

I had surgery to get healthy...my goal is to be 170 pounds....and on my 5'2 frame...170 still has me as over weight...but its a heck of alot better than 339 pounds.... I dont think the surgery has boasted my confidence, I've always had high self-esteem...but I can tell you now it takes away my ability to binge eat...I was an emotional binge eater....it was nothing for me to hit burger king, jack in the box and taco bell in one evening because someone pissed me off.... I am still an emotional eater, but I am working on it with therapy...which I have my next session tomorrow... The surgery doesnt clear up the mental issues of being overweight.....that's work you have to do BIG time afterwards....

What you stated is true some people can be more tackful...but in society there are tackless rude people everywhere....what makes this forum any different.... If you are going to post a question in a public forum, you are basically asking society for their opinion...and as a friend of mine told me, opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one... Being rude or even tackless is all relative...just because you think what someone said was tackless, another person can come a praise the person for "tellin it like it is" Its all relative...just like this posting, I can say you are being defensive because I told the truth about people posting stuff that they need to confide in a friend about, not the public....when others can come out and say to you good for you for responding... Its all relative

I think sometimes people forget that when you post on this forum...everyone sees the posts, people you want to respond to your posts and people who you wished looked at your posted and not hit "reply" When you post on here you should be prepared for all viewpoints and opinions... And honestly, some of the questions so people post on here makes me wonder, do you have a friend face-to-face to ask, because the question has nothing to do with VSG or WLS and that people just needs a friend.... Go find yourself a friend and private message them.... Sorry, I'm just an honest person, both on here and in person....

This pic I have of myself on here was taken before surgery....I guess I should put up a recent one...

question about period starting post-op while still in the hospital.
PEvette replied to katikati's topic in The Gals' Room
Having your period start after surgery is pretty normal....I was lucky mine didnt start until day 5 when I was finally at home (I spent 2 days in the hosptial and 2 days with my aunt) -
for those of you who live alone
PEvette replied to Mastiff_mama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed with my aunt and uncle for 2 days before returning home....I was ready to leave after 1 night, but my aunt insisted I stay 2 nights like I did in the hospital -
Estimated Revision cost
PEvette replied to GA peach's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was self pay for my revision, insurance had a total exclusion on any WLS....so I paid $18K for my revision, and I was able to have it all done in one procedure....it was 3 hour procedure, but he was able to do it.... -
you can order it through amazon.com but my local store carries it where the protien powders are, so I grabbed some there...

Frustrated Newbie--HOW DO I KNOW when I'm full?!
PEvette replied to TheLCSpencer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
when you move to solids you will know, trust me, you will know....I felt the same when I was on pureeds, and my NUT told me to just wait until I move to soft solids...and when I felt it I was pleasantly surprised... Now everyone has a different full signal, from pain in the shoulder to like me, you just feel uncomfortable if you take another bite.....I have spat up before, mainly because I wasnt paying attention to eating and I was shoveing food in my mouth and talking...that was a lesson learned.... you will know when you are full... -
Its good, I add it to my chocolate protein shakes to make them taste like a reese's cup....the jar is a nice size and yea it costs $5 but the way we go through food now, $5 can go a long way

Teachers? Where Are The Teachers?
PEvette replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
2 weeks is ok....there are alot of people who go back to work after 2 weeks, just return to light duty, no lifting of heavy stuff.... I had mine done the first week after going on summer break in June, so I had the whole summer to recover....I honestly didnt feel back to "normal" until week 4 -
Chobani and now I am in love with Noosa, its a Australian yogurt, I add a scoop of unflavored protein to it as well as 1/4C of fresh fruit.....its great!

How many carbs are you allowed?
PEvette replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont focus on how much carbs I am allowed anymore, I focus on making my carb choices more complex carb choices...and its keeping me regular -
Houston, Tx Surgeons- Help please!
PEvette replied to jennaleigh1992's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Was self-pay, but I had revision surgery....I went through Texas Laparscopic Associates (TLC) Dr. Sherman Yu....he also does the single-incision if you are willing to pay the extra money for it....but him and Dr. Scarbrough specializes in Lap procedures... They are awesome and the staff is very supportive before-during-after the process -
pre_op liquid diet. Im starving
PEvette replied to Fair2bslimLady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sf popsciles and Jello...try to hang in there....I did it for 3 weeks (the extra week was by choice, I know glutton for punishment) I hit "the wall" on day 3, once I got past day 3, it was smooth sailing... you can do it! stay positive!!!! -
I just feel the need to post this....people need to work on their food issues, they will not go away just because you had most of your stomach removed, even if your doctor doesnt recommend therapy, seek it, it can only help....*off soapbox*

Tossing Around Revision? Lap-Band to Sleeve
PEvette replied to tasbtos's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
1) depends on your policy....I had a total exclusion on any WLS so I had to pay out of pocket for my revision 2) I would have done it again in a heart beat! I'm 7 months post-revision and my life has been great! with the lapband I only lost 40 pounds, then gained it back and then some...with the sleeve I have restriction, I'm doing the right things and it is paying off....love it! -

I'm doing great! ) -
Can you have lapband removed and the sleeve completed in one operation
PEvette replied to girlwest's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yeah, the doctors will tell you that if they see erosion or any major problems, they will remove the band and you will have to undergo a second procedure for the sleeve, but it can be done.. I praise God mine was done in 1 procedure, it took him 3 hours, due to scar tissue, but he was able to do it... -
Seriously? I have to gain 8 lbs to get a revision?
PEvette replied to VSG Tommy B's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
If you want something bad enough you will compromise to get it....its not like you have to gain 25 pounds or something...its 8 pounds, Water weight.....drink alot of water before the appt and you'll probably make it.... Insurance companies say these things just to get these kinds of responses out of people, to discourage you from doing it.... If you want it, you will not let 8 pounds stand between you and success! And I am entitled to my opinion, if you dont want it, dont post questions on the public forum! -
Seriously? I have to gain 8 lbs to get a revision?
PEvette replied to VSG Tommy B's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hell, stop complaining and gain the weight already.....atleast I would, I had to pay for my revision on my own, so if your insurance wants to pay for it, let them... -
I'm in Houston, and I had mine done for $18K....that included 2 days stay in the hosptial

7 months post op's..... Need experience sharing ? Urgent?!
PEvette replied to Teddy bear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 months out at well....you probably need to see your doc about a acid reducer....I'm not hungry all the time, I have the opposite problem, when I eat food that is has a large amount of protien, I am usually full for a good 4 hours, which is a problem because my doc and NUT wants me to eat 1200 calories a day and if left alone I can eat 800-1000 and be fine, so I find myself eating small meals every 3 hours or so because I dont eat past 9pm.... Go see your doc!
