Regret telling people at work
PEvette replied to iontash's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well, being big or being small, you are going to have haters....I didnt tell but 3...yes 3 people at work and swore them not to tell, and I can say that they didnt, they let me tell me when I was ready....when some of my co-workers found out most were supportive, some were supportive but threw their jabs in comments every now and then....my response to them is I laugh, I dont get annoyed by them, because if the tables were turned I probably be alittle "j" too.... But I tell everyone who has a negative or "hater" comment about my WLS....if you can go through what I went through at 339 pounds, and be successful then I will listen to you, until then what you say doesnt matter to me..... -
Well, you asked, called people names, and I responded, period. I proved the point that you need to ask your doctor more questions and do more research on your OWN before making a decision on having this surgery....as good as people feel losing the weight, this surgery, as any, is serious.... SO instead of name calling, go back and ASK your DOCTOR more questions....the RIGHT questions, about HIM or HER....
-
I know off topic, but I cant believe how ignorant some people can be when it comes to their own body!
-
The question you should ask your surgeon is what is his or her success rate, not if anyone have died from the surgery.....there is always a chance of death even with the most routine procedures, what you need to know is what is his or her's success rate... And as far as people being smart asses, you need to ask the right questions for the correct answers....people were answering what you asked...

Any ladies out there have PCOS put your hands up!
PEvette replied to Red_lips_and_confidence's topic in The Gals' Room
I was told I had PCOS when I was 18....I've gained and lost weight over the years, and was also told that I would not be able to have kids without medical help, but I was over 300 pounds and it was unsafe for me to have kids anyway....I've had 2 knee surgeries because of my osteoarthitsis in them.... I had revision surgery to VSG in June 2012, and it has changed my life....my ob/gyn told me that I needed to lose 100 pounds before even considering children....I'm 0.3 pounds away from 100 pounds lost!!! Knee pain is nearly non-existant....but the PCOS is still there....she told me that it would not go away, but losing weight helps manage the side effects, which it has....I still suffer from PMS symtopms every month like clock work.... -
I know I know....another person complaining... but I'm having a major issue breaking through to the 230s...I've been in the 240s for 3 weeks now....bouncing back and forth 4 pounds.... I need some direction, positive thoughts right now... I'll be 9 months post op March 11th.....and I feel like if I just go on protien drinks and yogurt I can breakthrough, but I really dont want to manipulate my body like that because, well I know I will regret it later.... any thoughts or suggestions
-
Its been almost a week now and I think I've gained some control over it....I've managed to keep my eating to around 1200 calories a day, sometimes I go a little over sometimes a little under.... I've lost the 7 pounds I had gained...and now I am 0.3 pounds away from being 100 pounds lost!! Even though I haven't hit 100+ pounds lost yet, I'm still celebrating
-
yes, unless you make sure you really mash it you should be fine
-
yes it helped me....I'm currently in ym stress mode, testing season for my kiddos and my eating has been out of wack for 3 weeks now and my weight has basically stalled and increased some.... I am praying to get on track this spring break so I can make it the last 11 weeks of the school year....I think I will take some of the suggestions you wrote, thank you!
-
I love margaritas....frozen....or a glass of wine....although tonight I had a lemon drop martini.... hey, its a special occasion...spring break! lol

Hi, I had someone suggest to me before, but its difficult for me to eat small meals during the day, because I'm a teacher and my planning period isnt until 11:45am....so I have to go from 7:45am to 11:45am just drinking.....and drinking just goes straight through me....I'm now trying to keep turkey Jerky at my desk, but now I think I will keep nuts now.....I need things easy to get to, sneak and munch on without refrigeration.... life of a teacher
-
thanks I will take you suggestions to the store and up my fat intake some...back in Oct I had issues (kinda similar to now) and my NUT increased my intake from 800 calories to 1200 calories because I workout 4-5 days a week....so I've been at 1200 calories since october, I'll be 9 months post op next week...

usually my eating is good, but I do sometimes go too long in between meals and I end up picking up anything I can get my hands on to eat.... But most days I will eat my balanced meal or snack like yogurt with fresh fruit or my meat and veggies then I'll go grab a bunch of wheat crackers with Peanut Butter and just start grazing on that...even though I just finished eating my meal At work I will work until someone frustrates me and I start looking for change to hit the vending machine, nevermind I have planned Snacks and a balanced lunch, at that moment I want chips and I'm going to the vending machine to get chips.... I'm working on it, telling myself I screwed up today but tomorrow is a new day....I'm tired of having new days, ugh!

yeah, I'm in Houston

PEvette replied to adoptmom2_3's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I lost 40 pounds intially with the band...then gain that plus 20 pounds back over the 8 years I had it in me.... He probably estimating that to be on the conservative side...my doc scheduled for 7am on a Mon because he didnt want to be rushed....he told me about an hour and it turned to be 2 to 2.5 hours, so he's probably telling you that more for him than you.... -
Revision surgery time/weight loss goals
PEvette replied to adoptmom2_3's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My revision was around 2 to 2.5 hours....I was just thankful that it was done in one procedure....my doctor's goal is for me to get under 200 pounds, my personal goal is 170....I believe that 170 is a reasonable goal for me....I am really hoping to reach it!
