Hi, I'm scheduled for June 11th.....finished with everything pre-op, except for my dr. appt....my family asks me am I scared, I tell them I'm more scared about what will happen if I dont get control of my weight than this.... you will be ok, and if you need any questions answered, just ask!

I agree with Annie....call your surgoen and Gyn...she may need to give you a depo shot to get your hormones in check....that happened to me years ago, and I had to get checked out... -
Try to stay calm and remind him of what he needs to do.....try your best not to flip because he will only see you yelling at him and not hear what you are telling him what you need him to do... Most times men have to be told things 2 and 3 times before they do it...and you have to tell him exactly what you want him to do....or else you will be upset because he did something wrong... I have lots of men in my family and you have to remind them....multiple times to do something or else it will go in one ear and out the other...

My therapist said that chewing gum or eating peppermints help curb the need to munch....also brushing your teeth after each meal helps too... -

I am in a similar situation....my doctor wants me to lose 10 pounds by my surgery date of June 11th....I too have been stuggling since Feburary trying to lose, but I've gained 15 pounds....now with the procedure being 6 weeks away, I'm incorporating more protien drinks into my diet....I drink I protien drink in the morning instead of coffee...and drink 3 more throughout the day, and eating something sensible for dinner.....this is my first day, so I am hopful... Maybe its something you can do as well.... -

I say do what you like, its the only way you will be able to stick with it....you can get great exercise dancing, swimming, or playing sports, you probably worked more muscles than if you walked a treadmill.....

had my first therapy session today....I was completely honest with her....she told me that if I was her patient when I was going through the process for the lapband, she would not have approved me for the surgery....she also told me that since I am a revision patient I have to police myself harder...I told her I am ready for the work, and even though I should not have had the band, I've learned alot from its failure....the sleeve will work!!

People usually dont start losing their hair until arounf 3 months out....due to the fast weightloss and sedation medicine from the procedure....The Biotin will not prevent hair loss, it helps it grow back faster....getting your protein in helps with hair loss....this information came from a colleague/friend who is post-op RNY.... I've been natural for 5 years now, I plan to get twists in May because I do not want to deal with my hair for the first 3 months....
