    Camera Shy

Well....next week I will be 8 weeks out....so far I've lost a total of 46 pounds since my surgery date, June 11th, 2012...my family suggested that I take a picture, but I am not a picture taking person.... I know one suggestion is to take pictures along the journey so you can see the difference....but I've been big my whole life, well since age 6, and I just never liked taking pics....others usually take a pic of me and catches me by surprise.... Well let me get to the question...when was it that you were no longer running away from the camera??
  3. Dang! you went from a size 24 to a 14 and you only dropped 60 pounds...WOW

    -Sniff- Double Rejected!

The difference between now and when you are 18 is probably right now you are a minor and when you turn 18 an adult... Do you have your parents support??
  5. OH yeah you can...my pre-op diet was 4-5 protien shakes a day....I used Matrix, EAS, and some other protien powders during that time.... After surgery the only shake I can stomach is EAS and unjury, oh and nectar....Matrix makes me nausous...
  6. I've lost 31 pounds since I was sleeved....add the 15 pounds from the pre-op diet, that's 46 pounds lost...
  7. Are you pre-op or post op....and if you are post op, how far along are you??? I'm 7 weeks post op, and I honestly use protien powder maybe 3 times a week now....I prefer to eat my protien....and my doctor agrees...when you eat your protien it makes getting in 800-1000 calories a day more bareable...plus you get burned out on them after a while.... Plus after you have the procedure, your tastes will change....
  8. NO, because I had reflux with the lapband...my doc took the fluid out of my band, it went away....revised to sleeve and still do not have acid reflux
  9. My doctor wasnt even concerned about me meeting my protien numbers until I was onto soft foods...and that was at 4 weeks out... during mushies I ate alot of yogurt, cream of wheat, Beans (pinto, black, lentils) from Amy's Organic Soups, and grits....I refused to use the blender....oh and cheese on my beans...
  10. Today I cooked, it felt great to get back in the kitchen....I'm cooking so much so that sept I will be eatting on freezer leftovers...the perils of being single and sleeved...

    Hellllp!

I think I just answered this (what happened to my post?) anyway....there's nothing to be nervous about...be candid and open, answer your doctor's questions honestly and ask him or her questions that you have on your mind.... People come on here and ask all kinds of questions, when the person they should be asking really is their doctor...anything you would think to come on here and ask, ask your doctor that question....
  12. COngrats! You will have a great surgery and a stressfree recovery.... *positive thoughts*

    African American Sleevers

Just ask him or her any questions you have....nothing to be nervous about...I dont know how much research you have done on your own, but just ask questions on things you would like to know....

    Oatmeal With A Sleeve

I just had oatmeal on monday....I'm 7 weeks out, and I did fine...at 2 weeks out I was approved to have thin oatmeal, cream of wheat, or grits....the most I can eat is 1/2C...I'm burned out on cream of wheat and grits (lived on it during pureeds) and I only eat the steel cut oatmeal, its tastes better to me...

    Net Carbs

    Thank you so much!
  18. Yeah, I would wait until a month post-op to start birth control if you aren't already on it... Your surgoen should be recommending you get on some kind of birth control after surgery to decrease the chances of getting pregno...

    Anyone Regret It?

    No regrets here...
  20. No, I didn't have that either, that is very different
  21. I'm not going to get into a debate about whether or not we have pouches...so I'm going to remove myself from this board... We have pouches, not a stomach....

    My First Fifty!

MAN! I'm 5 away....so itchin' to hit the 50 pounds lost mark....Congrats to you!!
  23. My auntie took care of my things while I was in surgery...when they moved me to my room, she only left me my cell phone, a book and my clothes for when I get discharged....she took my purse home with her
  24. On a positive note, I went out today for breakfast (ok brunch) with a friend, it was my first sit down meal in public since surgery, so I was scared....I was able to eat 1 fried egg, 1 breakfast sausage, and about 1/4 cup of grits....my friend kept staring at my plate, like I left all my meat on it....I was proud...I feel confident in eating out now...

  25. Well the surgeries are the same, but at the same time they are different....both of the surgeries changes the stomach...we do have a pouch, its just not cut the same as a RNY person... our body goes through metabotic changes the same as a RNY patient, but RNY patients go through more because of the re-routing of their intestines.... We are not suppose to dump which is different from RNY people (but I've heard that some of them don't dump either) VSG changes the body, just like RNY....its just that RNY goes one step further..... You can desire to want people to aknowledge that VSG is different than RNY, but to be honest....they are similar, but not the same....
